And some of the favorite slogans from us Chicagoans...
Malört: "For when you want to unfriend a person in real life."
Malört: "Tonight is the night you fight your dad."
Malört: "These pants aren't going to $#!+ themselves."
Yes indeed the one and only dubious pride of Chicago
Malort: The Gary, Indiana of liquor
Malört: It doesn't kill COVID, but tastes like it could
Malort: Distilled hate
Malort: Better than being sober...I guess
@@LibertasRAC
Malört: "It'll kick your mouth in the [nuts]."
Malört: "It tastes like the day your dad left."
Malört: "Turning your tastebuds into taste-enemies since 1933."
I never heard of Malort until I moved away! My Chicago friends spoke of it being nasty lol
Being from Kalamazoo but living in Chicago for many years, ah Malört, the white elephant gift that keeps getting passed. The armpit of Illinois liquor itself.
"Do ya wanna do a shot?" Oh, the malice behind those words!!!
And anyone who has ever lived in Chicago giggled with glee at those words.
@@CortexNewsService And the classic reaction as the aftertaste kicks in.
Callyann's whole body laugh is just delightful
Yup
"i have so many questions, but i don't want the answers" could've been my life's motto.
After having this abomination inflicted on me a couple of times. I think the most accurate description of Malort I've heard is "Tastes like fertilizer, but doesn't grow on you".
Well endured all - slainte!
Malort sounds like a Harry Potter villain.
I love Callyann. She's so hilarious, even when she isn't trying to be. Her personality is awesome 😂❤
Can’t believe I said it smelled like raw chicken. That’s the end of my credibility.
- Darren
Don’t be too hard on yourself, Darren…Probably a pretty accurate assessment of the odor emanating from a bottle of Malort..🤢
Don't blame yourself , Darren ! It was probably the shot to your snot locker from grianne that threw off your sense of smell ! 😂😂😂😂😂
@@stix7662 smells more like soggy wood with a hint of fresh asphalt
@@ThisTastesLikeWhiskey I hope you didn’t eat the chicken that smelled like that! 😂
Why is their drink so much darker than the others? Might explain the chicken smell. Cheers
"I do like lime on my rim...oh wait" 😂😂 Oh Pagan glad to see you again
Hahha hello 😅
@@pagan_plays Always delight to see you
@@pagan_plays Please always be you *cheers*
Nice! The perfect crossover of the Irish guys trying stuff, and my love of innocent victims trying Malort for the first time.
And this is the second video involving Malort!
Chicago person here. Sears sold the tower. In '94, vacated '95, but is still referred to as the Sears tower by a lot of people. Com we and go up to the top on a clear day. You can see across the roughly 118 miles of water to the Michigan shore. Great food, great bars.
The TRYers are welcome in Chicago anytime. We'll show you some good craic!
"I do like lime on my rim...oh wait"
That giggle that followed absolutely stole my heart, Pagan.❤
😅
Callyann was on her best blonde behaviour on this video, and Darren's reactions were perfect! I love those two!
Colin gets a bit more red in the face when he's with cute tryers I've noticed lol. And cutting off his laugh to ask, "but what are you gonna do in Chicago?" was class.
Whoever forced Malört onto the poor TRYers is going to Hell.
This is their second go round 😂
I was shocked they found Malort in Ireland. According to a reply I got on the previous video, the Try Channel can’t have alcohol shipped to them so every bottle is purchased locally. So who in America is exporting Malort to torture other countries?
yeah as stated above this is usually the punishment drink when i play games at conventions... yeah
My first thought when I read the title😅
😄😄😄
OMG, the ATEEZ shirt on Pagan! Love it when multiple interests collide.
😊😊
Pagan’s a gem she’s a Tryer, she games, and she’s a K-pop fan
@@MoonchildLJC ❤️that’s me 🤗😅
Pagan has instantly become my favorite Tryer. Kpop and Games are my favorite things.
@@Vintage_Belle I have watched her reactions and only made the connection today that the reactor and the tryer are one and the same. Whoops.
Callyann and Darren together are the best.
*Callyann:* I have so many questions and I don't want the answers to them!
Now there's someone who's encountered Malört.
Should have done the cocktails first then the Shoot last. Hearing Callyann Laugh is very delightful unlike the Malört she drinking.
With the first "rim" joke in under a minute. Pagan ftw. 😂
And Nicole slipping around on the Bean. 😳😂
Darren' s 'OK there, Marlon Brando?' is a moment that should be appreciated.
Fascinating that four drinks look some what clear and two of the hard sells are much clouder Orange.
I wasn't expecting the From Software references but I'm here for the Elden Malört.
Well done Colin and Nicole on Chicago references! 😃 👍
Colin wins for the best Malort face.
Callyann continues to be the most adorable ball of sunshine to ever grace this earth...also it's always such a pleasure when Pagan's in the video too
Thank you!
Poor Tryers! Also Pagan wearing an Ateez shirt? I love it!
😊 I love Ateez!
Love grapefruit. Favorite pop when I was younger was Squirt, grapefruit soda-pop.
Colin -- it may be spelled W-I-L-L-I-S but it's pronounced "Sears"
Yep, will always be Sears to me! ❤
It seems that the Willis people who bought the building were kinda prophetic, seeing as how Sears is mostly out of business now. I do agree tho....even as someone who has only been to Chicago once (back in 98)....it will always be the Sears Tower to me.
Yes, Wills comes off as asshats for trying to rename the sears tower
Genius
When I saw them so happy in the beginning of the video, I was like “these poor Irish people don’t know what is about to be inflicted upon them.”
Callyann is The BEST !!!!!! Love her laugh , it's do infectious !!!!
Great Sears tower reference.
Oh, you'd remember malort!
"This smells like something" is probably the most ambiguous statement I've ever heard on this channel
True, but if you're familiar with Malört you know exactly what she's talking about.
What is it with the Nordic countries?!?! Ultra-salty candy, really bitter liquor, ferment fish (Surströmming). It's the food equivalent of self-flagellation.
Mix all those things in a blender and sip through a straw. Peak yumminess.
@@knaperstekt7953 and I just thought of an ancient SNL skit.. bass-o-matic.
First HTD and now TRY, guess it's Malort week!
Love this channel, Daren's channel is also quite good.
Love Colin and Nicole's simultaneous reaction to the Soul Transfusion cocktail 😁😁😁. Also, Callayann and Darren's impressions of each other ❤❤❤
I wish these videos were sooooooo much longer! Love y'all.
I'm a little disappointed we didn't get a Chinatown reference from Colin.
_"Forget it, Jake. It's Chai-na Town."_
Drip tray drink, very descriptive, Nicole. Totally understand. Ugh!
We used to make a Spaulding at parties and whoever did the dumbest thing of the night had to drink it. (Caddyshack)
When Nicole mentioned butane, it reminded me of some Garbage Pail Punch parties in college. CallyAnne's "There's so many questions I don't want the answers to." really got me going.
I'd be more than happy to see Callyann and Pagan just laughing hysterically. If alcohol is necessary to complete this task, so be it.
It's just nice to see a bunch of Irish have fun with liquors
4:34 they've mentioned Magaluf before, but I honestly thought they were saying Macauliffe like it's a place in Ireland somewhere. But no, it's a resort beach in Spain.
I learned something today.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAAAAAAAY! I KNEW IT WOULD COME! LETS GOOOOOOOO!
PS~ Thank you so much for suffering through so many awful things for our entertainment. I love all of you and you're the best!
As a swede , i laugh every time you guys try to say MalÖrt 😂
👍 from Chicago! Enjoy, people!! 😂😂😂
As a resident of the Chicagoland area I’m exceptionally impressed at how much about Chicago they all know. Also that they willingly put that much malort (any) in their bodies especially after trying a shot.
Love to everyone, but I gotta say, Nicole always stands out to me in episodes lately. She seems like she was the adopted daughter of Stevie Nicks, but Stevie was a good mom and helped her become a witchy sort of creative woodland sprite with a good sense of humor
Seeing pagan again has immediately brighten my day
Thanks pagan
You’re welcome! Have a nice day! 😊
Oh you poor beautiful souls, you being subjected to this Malort junk. It really makes my day and I so enjoy it. Thanks guys, love it! 😊
It's so funny. Greg from How to Drink put out a video not long ago making Malort specific cocktails that are actually good.
Dermot and Ciarra should have been in this one😂😂😂
They were in the other malört video, close enough 😊
@@joegaskill9050 Ciara the fembot. Would’ve either had no reaction, or loved it! Dermot on the other hand would’ve probably been hilarious 😂
What Nicole describes at 7:24 is called a “Jersey Turnpike”.
"My face was scared" is something I would probably say if someone handed me a Malört cocktail if I'm honest
I actually liked Malort back when I drank. Fond memories of Northwestern tailgates.....
I like it too! My taste buds might be broken.
Callyann's description of the bartender in Magaluf was so specific...and true lol 😂😂
Callyanne's reaction to "there's other things going on in my life at the moment" is stupendous
Oh malort!😅 fun shoot as always!!❤
Ha ha, they way you guys say Mallort is so bad 😂
Who ever mixes the drinks i think needs to start using a measuring cup, it always looks like the three pairs are drinking different drinks 😆
The way you spell Malört is worse. That being said, as bad as a pronunciation of Malört can be it will never be as bad as the taste of Malört. That stuff is just plain vile.
Why is Callyann just an absolute delight like every video shes in. and god help us if its her and justine together
On the bucket list..
An in person drink along with the TRYers! ❤❤
LOOOOOOVE the ATEEZ shirt, Pagen!!!!
Thank you ❤
I really enjoy the spectrum of Irish Try'ers where on one end there are the alcohol-afficionados, the boozologists, and professional drinkers . . . and on the other end its just "we like to get fucked up sometimes, but I don't actually like anything"
I don't know what it means if you smell raw chicken. But if you smell toast you're having a stroke😂
Or a brain tumor. RIP, Harv.
we say it Mal Ört here, ofc swedes often take 2, 3. 4, 5 etc words and bind them in to one
Ah the Good Ole Malort. Growing up in Chicago it was a right of passage to do a shot of Malort. Go into any Bar in Chicago and they have it. Its one of those drinks you dare your friends to have a shot of. A Classic
very nice video the girls have a lot of fun and i think that pagan is always happy
Callyann is simply delightful
Catching u on replay. I was born and raised in Chicago. In the city. Had Malort ONCE, That was enough
Try'rs, y'all rock! ❤😂 Peace
Alcohol with Malört is primarily meant to be used as shots at extensive dinners where you consume a lot of fatty food, for Christmas, Midsummer and smorgasbords.
some info for the Irish young people// Malört, or Jeppson's Malört, is a Swedish word that means "moth herb" and is also the name of an American brand of bäsk liqueur. Bäsk is a type of brännvin, which is a liquor distilled from potatoes, grains, or wood cellulose, and is flavored with anise or wormwood. Malört is known for its very bitter taste and strong aroma, and is often described as "infamous" and "the worst booze ever". It's typically consumed as a shot or sipped neat.
I'm really dating myself here, but it seemed that Colin was trying to say "Wha'chu talkin' 'bout, Willis... Tower?!?"
I love malort. I mean, it's not my first choice, but I won't shy away from it. Tastes like grapefruit to me, and it's always fun doing a shot with someone, especially when they think I've never had malort before.
The first one sounds like a drink that tries you!
In Soviet Russia . . .
In Soviet Russia . . .
If you leave out the lemon juice from the Soul Transformation, you get a Streetervillian. It is based on the Boulevardier, replacing the Campari with Malört.
Pagan's shirt made my atiny heart happy!!! ❤️
Came to the comments to find the Atiny pride! ❤
@@AlexaMichelle07❤❤ Atiny!!
❤
Yea, we’re still angry about the Sears Tower as well.
The scary part, they’ve changed the recipe over the years, it tastes better now than 20+ years ago.
I love Malort! Have a bottle at the house. Interested in some of these cocktails.
I went into this video with more Malört questions than answers…
You can keep your scary wine Sverige !
Malört, also known as wormwood, is phonetically pronounced as "maal-e-rt". When saying Ö, think of saying the E in her in fancy english.
Malört (wormwood) is supposed to be drank as snaps. I know because I make my own during summer and I live in sweden. Kind of an expert at the whole putting it in a bottle, pouring in some vodka and taking out the Malört. yep. It can also be used in absinthe but I think that's illegal these days. yep
And here I am in Sweden, drinking shots of malört moonshine to family dinners
9:50 to 9:53....priceless!😅
A different liquor to try ...Jans Carlsbad Becherovka from Slovakia.
Pagan 100% selling it in the thumbnail!
Thank you
Thank you all for the video
I mean... Malort would be the poison swamp component of a FromSoft game.
Wish Callyann a long life thankful for all the joy and happiness she brings with . . . whatsoever. So hilarious and adorable at same time. ♕♕♕
I visited Chicago for the first time and the bartender poured me a shot of that for free. Said it was a rite of passage. I didn’t realize the ongoing joke is that everyone thinks it’s horrible. I downed it and complimented it even though I didn’t think it tasted great. Would be interesting to try drinks with it. The flavor comes from wormwood
No Chicago handshake? Granted, it isnt a cocktail.
I was waiting for a VoldeMalört cocktail.
As a former barman, I can tell you that Chai Town is usually served as a shot, and it will get in your knickers rather quickly.
The inconsistencies in color of the drinks always cracks me up
Sears (for y’all who don’t know) was a big department store that was around for over 100 years… Then, through terrible mismanagement, went tits up years ago.
I love that Pagan is a atiny 💕💕
Me too 😊❤🫰🏻
Love CallyAnns infectious laugh
Yes, Callyann, that's a universal experience, like sleep and needing to eat.
Do it again but using the Malort cocktails that Greg from How To Drink just made! It would be interesting to see how the reactions compare.
Purchased a bottle about a year ago. Have not had much since, sipping on one with you for the video.
Talk to someone, Kev. Asking for help doesn't make you weak. Hang in there, brother.
Best video in a long time (no offense to previous video participants). :)
