Showing The Boosh to my girlfriend for the first time, who didn't even know this show existed, and she loves it!! Honestly thought it wouldn't be her thing. I'm so glad I was wrong: it's been so fun to watch it with someone who didn't spend half of high school shouting, "I'M OOOLD GREEEGG!!!" XDD

I got a job soon after that period and life got better but I remember this show getting me through such a strange time in my life. It brought me such happiness within my darkness and I'll always be grateful ♥️

when I first watched the boosh, I was about six and absolutely loved it. however, now that I'm sixteen, I've noticed that there are some parts that I found genuinely quite disturbing and dark. the crack fox, biggie shackelton, the season 1 hitcher, etc. even certain scenes, for example, there was something about the scene in the yeti episode where they're all being chased by the yeti that had a very dark and threatening tone to it. I also feel similar about the hitcher episode in season 1 and that part in nanageddon when saboo is wrapped up and getting stabbed by the knitting needles. anyway, sorry for the long comment, I was just wondering if anyone else feels the same way about it :)

Kids started showing up at live shows where Vince gets bummed by a giant rabbit and they have beheading and neck-stump rape. It's Always had darkness. Kids largely don't notice or understand. The Mighty Boosh and The League of Gentlemen have been removed from Netflix because of their use of blackface, with critics calling the move an “arbitrary gesture” that does little to combat racism. I didn't think that being "Modwolves" was racist? It's obvious they can see color.
Only character from Boosh I can think of with Blackface is the Spirit of Jazz, but when you consider the fever dream that is Boosh, its not racism, its absurdity.
Evidently there WAS something racist about what they were doing if they did something racist. Which we know they did, and it was blackface. So I just don't understand your argument...are you saying that white people doing racist stuff is ok as long as it's funny enough? Are you qualified to decide that on behalf of an entire racial demographic? Are you even a member of that demographic? By all means hate the way this was handled, but don't try to excuse the racist behavior that led to the decision. That's an indefensible position, and an attitude every bit as dangerous/harmful/problematic as blackface itself (if not more so). However, I'm not saying I agree with the choice to pull the shows. In fact I think it would be 1,000 times more effective if the guys were to record an anti-racism message to play at the start of those episodes, and have the powers that be reinstate the shows wherever they had been available with that new addition. Take responsibility for the mistake, summarize what they've learned about the history, and apologize. That's all it would take from them to create an anti-racism message people would take especially seriously, coming from these comedians who are practically worshipped like gods. On this, we agree: Noel and Julian are comedic geniuses. That doesn't excuse any kind of racism though, whether big or small; intentional or by accident. No matter how funny something is, nothing really excuses that. Well, almost nothing. Racial humour can be funny if done correctly and respectfully, but it's only ok under very, very specific circumstances, such as: -all racial demographics named/involved in the material, including any who might just overhear it somewhere down the line, are made to feel like they're in on the joke the whole time; never feeling like the target of it -The joke must originate from someone who does not have the privilege of white skin. Perfect examples are Chapelle's Show and Key & Peele. A ton of racial humour in those, but it's ok to laugh at it, because the audience is meant to be in on the joke. Sweeping racism under the rug like what was done with the Boosh and that other show, probably to avoid the responsibility of actually doing something about it, is morally-questionable at best, a useless gesture, and just stupid in general. Pulling the show is not enough to stop the next person from making the same kinds of mistakes. Taking the time to teach them why they SHOULDN'T engage in racist practices like blackface, educating them one by one, that actually does stand a chance at making a real difference.
