Batteries always become unbalanced especially If you charge they system more than 40 times and want 8 years of use. Plus if you need 12 v power they will need balancing. but you can also add a 48 V to 12 volt converter to power the radios and lights. That might also help extend the life of those $1000 of batteries. I have seen a Prius battery it had 28 tiny wires to balance they system, I thought that was the main charging wires but they monitor and balance instead.
