    Even though they were at night, I thought the shots of the Seretai were actually really impressive for a live action, they did a pretty good job with the hollows too, I appreciate that they actually tried with this film.

    This movie is such a hidden little gem... Particularly the fact that Rukia actually trains Ichigo here, I think adds to the source material hugely

    Bleach Live Action did a great job of adjusting the direction of the Substitute Arc to fit the new medium and runtime. I honestly kind of liked how Renji and Byakuya were brought in earlier to facilitate a deadline for Ichigo. I thought it helped raise the stakes a bit for his confrontation with Grand Fisher, and I genuinely enjoyed all the fights.
    I'd like to see the attempt made to adapt the Soul Society Arc this way, but the idea of them trying to cram all of it into one film is much scarier than the condensing that was needed for the Substitute Arc. Trying to think through the steps of the arc and how many characters need to be introduced - my gut feeling is that Soul Society Arc would need at least a trilogy to adapt it decently. I'm imagine first film goes up to the rematch with Renji - second ends with Yoruichi gearing Ichigo up for Bankai training - and third concludes the rescue. I think that set up would give the best bet for being able to showcase as much of the characters as possible without feeling like it was just a mad dash to the finish line.

      Big thing is balancing the mystery aspect of SS and then the BIG reveal at the end along with the rescue mission. I’d be curious as to how they would pull it off but it’d be tough

    This movie is the perfect one-off kind of condensed version of the first arc. It makes everything tie up in a way that did NOT occur in the source material, but like you said, it makes sense why they made the choices they did.

    I'm glad you enjoyed the movie, I had a great time as well.
    We DID get a great live-action Kenpachi tho, just not in a form you'd expect - the Live stage adaptation called Rock Musical Bleach (the original run with Tatsuya Isaka as Ichigo, they got Vincent Valentine's voice actor, Shogo Suzuki, to play Kenpachi!). Anyway, if you're curious I think there are uploads on RUclips but they did manage to adapt the entire soul society arc onto the stage, even if it meant having a really big cast (they recruited a lot of the cast from Prince of Tennis musicals).

    In my opinion, no live-action anime adaptation will ever surpass the Gintama movie, but that's a special case due to the level of self-awareness that Gintama is known for.

      I’m not familiar with that particular series or movie but I do gotta say as far as I’m concerned the Rurouni Kenshin live action films are the gold standard for live action anime adaptions

    • @iSmartMan1
      @iSmartMan1 28 дней назад +1

      @@caseyhart4999 Gintama is one of the most meta anime ever made. The entire cast has a level of self-awareness on par with Deadpool. Because of that, the live-action Gintama movie was able to draw attention to things that would normally be common mistakes in live-action adaptations and make those flaws part of its signature meta style.
      Also, I agree, Ruroni Kenshin is probably the gold standard for serious live-action adaptations.

    Something to share regarding this movie, i watch it with my Dad, who i was trying to convince to read bleach, by the end he was interested in see more of Bleach... He doesn't feel like reading manga sadly, so im crossing my fingers for a better adaptation of at less the Substitute Shinigami arc, so i can introduce him properly to Bleach anywhere.
    But to get someone that's not interested in anime, to be like, i want to see more of this. It's not perfect, but it has the heart of Bleach.

    The most uncanny part of the movie, for me, was the soundtrack.
    It's very close to Shiro Sagisu's soundtrack from the first season of the anime but not quite the same.
    While that similarity might be hitting the right note for many fans, it was very strange for me, like hearing a friend's voice but it's not quite right.
    Of course, I wish the movie could have gotten NUMBER ONE, as the song about drinking all your milk just doesn't quite hit the same high, but still.
    It's a solid adaptation.

    Saying that One Piece is the best we've ever got is damning with faint praise if I've ever heard it. That said, by all accounts, it was pretty good and captured what it needed to. Was it perfect? No, but for a Netflix adaptation, it was decent.
    When it comes to adaptation, you need two things. The first is that you need to respect the core of the story and second you need to respect the vision of the author. A flawless adaptation is impossible, we are physically incapable of creating many of the things that appear in literature, even with modern special effects, however, if you have the vision, drive and respect to properly translate another medium to live action, people notice. When its a soulless cash grab, its usually easy to see and that leaves a sour taste in everyones mouth, but when you put the effort in to see the authors vision come to life, it becomes something magical. I think thats why the Lord of the Rings did so well and is so widely regarded as one of the great adaptations, despite all the changes made to it.

    BLEACH's live action movie is fairly good, I'm glad more people are watching it.
    Most of the Hollywood adaptations aren't great, but there are many good adaptations out there--Ping Pong, The Fable, Inuyashiki, Parasyte, GTO, Japanese Death Note movies, the Crows Zero movies, etc. Animal World, even, was an interesting adaptation of Kaiji.

  • @Snzn18
    @Snzn18 28 дней назад +1

    For Renji in the live action, they played more to the ol' Gangster delinquent like expressions Renji hais first appearance in the manga.
    And I feel like they are less intimidating in this part since they pulled the character moments they have later on in the manga here at the first appearance they have. In the live action it they are more transparent that they actually care about Rukia and they would try to not get her executed if they actually can?? This is why they are more so trying to manipulate things in the Live action to reduce potential sentencing to Rukia.
    In the live action, Renji and Byakuya are trying to make it so Rukia never gave Ichigo his powers. They can claim that is a fact by presenting Rukia having all his powers when she was taken back to SS.
    And its interesting how will Aizen get Rukia executed since in the live action Renji and Byakuya had already covered up the main reason why Rukia's sentence is immediate execution. For a sequel movie I guess this also speed things faster for audience that their is clearly something up when the execution sentence for Rukia is still going through in this scenario
    All that aside,
    Take this as warning, when you wake up in the morning,
    All you gotta do is drink all your Milk

    I really enjoyed the movie. The only thing I didn't like was that it didn't have the music from the anime. I've watched the series several times now so the music is a very important aspect to me. They really made some beautiful pieces for the anime. I just think the film would've benefited from using some of that music as well. Or at least, an interpretation of the music. Possibly just better music in general that helps to better get over what you're meant to be feeling during when it plays.

    I know the reception was good but its profits weren’t there. Not sure if it was exactly successful but I think a big issue was that people were a lot more sour on the idea of live action because at the time they recently had Netflix Death Note. Had the movie come out NOW during the hype of Bleach revival it would be significantly more profitable to make more. Maybe in the future we can get both a live action of some kinda (tv series might be better) and a whole anime remake.

    I've not watched it but from this video the one thing I'm not really okay with is ichigo willingly giving back the powers as they gave him the strength to protect people from the threats he now knows are out there but also it would mean Ichigo would allow someone to forcefully remove one of the people he loves from his life against their will, another thing that is more on the nitpicking side of things is that ichigo even when he is absolutely defeated never lets go of his sword

    • @plantcrone9662
      @plantcrone9662 27 дней назад +1

      Well, in the movie, it is quite different as instead of the powers slowly going back to Rukia overtime and Ichigo just fulfilling her job in the meantime, in the film, he had to gain enough energy through defeating hollows to be able to transfer her powers back without dying.
      Also, once Soul Society finds out about it, Rukia is told to take his powers away now, which would kill him, and if she doesn't she would be punished for giving her powers away, and they aren't willing to wait for ichigo to get enough energy to survive the transfer.
      Then stuff happens and Ichigo gains enough energy to survive the transfer but Byakuya wants to kill him cause he's a asshole and is about to kill him but Rukia interferes,convincing him not to. Then they go through the ritual to give Rukia back her powers so she won't get punished and Byakuya won't kill Ichigo.
