Be careful reading the comments on this vid! I've seen a couple huge spoilers on here already. Since you're a huge Hollow fan, I also highly, highly recommend you check out the couple of filler episodes during this arc (Episodes 147-149) if you have a spare hour. It's based off of some of Kubo's ideas that he didn't have time to use (shown in some sketches, etc) and gives you some really interesting Hollow characters and dynamics that are consistent with the canon series.

The English dub VA for Pesche is HILARIOUS. Probably some of the funniest lines in the series
Yup, i agreed. His delivery almost on par with Jp VA performance and energy. Meaning that the jokes are not lost in translation.
What did he say?
Shinji and Nel were quickly able to form a genuine connection with Ichigo because they believed he was of their kind.
To them, Ichigo was either
- a shinigami turned hollow
- or a hollow turned shinigami
What is more funny is tha he is neither at that point, he is more accurately a hollow(White) reborn into a quincy(Ichigo) cosplaying as a shinigami.

Byakuya being the one to 'look the other way' when Rukia and Renji wanted to go assist Ichigo is perfect _because_ he was always such a stickler for the rules. None better than he who was always so obsessed with the letter of the law to find and exploit a loophole. As he said, he was ordered to bring them back but he wasn't told to confine them or stop them from leaving again. Beyond just showing growth of character, I don't think any other character could make that argument without it seeming really out of place. I mean, _maybe_ Jushiro could have said it from an outside perspective and it would have sounded genuine, but I think he'd be more likely to urge Rukia to do what she felt was right which wouldn't have been nearly as satisfying.
I like that while ichigo is one of the more stationary characters (no offense, he does have an arc, but comparing him with everyone else de difference is obvious), he did motivate the growth of so many of the characters, even yamamoto, by showing them a new perspective

In anime at this point of the story there are some filler episodes that you HAVE TO WATCH. This episodes (147-149) are semi canon because Kubo wanted to make this little storyline himself but didn't have the time so he gave it to anime team. It's about forest of Menos. And considering how much you love hollows, there is 100% you don't wanna miss this part

I’m glad you noticed the parallel between Spider-Man and Ichigo. A lot of people say Ichigo doesn’t have character development but a lot of it throughout the story is just like Peter Parker’s development throughout the original comics
I always saw the Superman side, but Spiderman is such a good comparison as well.

@@colonelkenpachi5009 Not really, Superman is more about, the simbol of justice, while Spiderman is more about to learning how to live your life. It's why the guy here makes a mention of the OG comics, because the OG comics of Spidey, weren't about the drama and being half spider half man, they were about a teenager on the first 1/3 and the rest about a young adult learning his place on the world, what he wants to do, and who he wants to be surrender with. Which is what Bleach is about, it isn't about Ichigo's super natural powers is about Ichigo growing up, and this isn't a spoiler the story until now and in this chapters show you that Ichigo still has ways to go as a person.

Ichigo’s will to protect those he cares about does indeed come from a good place, but his overbearing way of almost demanding his friends to let him protect them comes from his fear that if they don’t, what happened to his mother will end up happening to them too. He has more room to grow, and realize that keeping his friends on the sidelines when they too can help protect everything he wants to is not the best decision.
Kubo's original plan was to have Hanataro be the evil mastermind like Aizen. So maybe you're right to not trust anyone, lol.

The way that you're able to voice your first impressions that have already passed is amazing. It's like you're reading it for the first time as you're talking to me and telling me what you're thinking.
When first watching Bleach, Nel was so surprising yet weirdly fit. She’s one of those characters that teeters on being the annoying kid trope but doesn’t fall in.
Another cool thing in the Anime is how a small filler arc started around here, some of the concepts in it was stuff Kubo wanted to add but didn’t have the time. Really also brings the world of Hueco Mundo even more alive.
Great to see things progressing and Orihime planning. We’ll see what happens. Great vid!

Yeah, I always loved that Renji and Rukia showed up, it was so nice to see Ichigo's new friends come to help him out :). Also yeah, Ichigo does have a habit of ending up surrounded by enemies turned friends. I mean you have Hanataro, Renji, and Kenpachi, who all decided to help Ichigo during the soul society arc even before the Aizen reveal! Not to mention how he became friends with Uryu despite the fact that Uryu hates soul reapers.
Bleach was in a weird spot during it's run. It was right there alongside Naruto and One Piece, with all three coming off the backs of Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball defined what would be considered the foundations of Shonen in that time and Naruto/One Piece narrowed it further down. Bleach, despite being part of that group, never really felt like the typical Shonen of the period. In fact, it has a lot more in common with Magical Girl style anime/manga or even western comics.
Rather then being about a guy born and raised within a world based around his own power, Ichigo is a normal-ass dude thrust into an entirely different world and has to adapt to it. So, he splits his time being part Shinigami and part regular dude. He goes to school, hangs out with his friends, and has typical life-goals like finding a good college and getting a good job. When Naruto takes off his headband, he's still a ninja in a ninja-centric world. Same thing with Luffy. But, when Ichigo takes off his uniform, he goes from being a shinigami back to being a human.
So Bleach is an issekai, Magical Girl and more of a Comics-structured story?

I liked that Nel and her companions accompany Ichigo this was overall a solid introduction to her and those around her.
So glad to be getting back around to catching up on these videos. I don’t smile much, but watching these reactions does make my heart smile when I remember things about this manga. For me it was something read weekly with Naruto and when they both ended, I was lost for a bit. Like something big was gone from all my weeks going forward

I really need to read the manga still, I heard it was censored quite a bit in the anime, but Nel is GENUINELY the funniest character in the whole series to me, maybe in anime in general. She constantly made me laugh with her gag moments (her VA goes crazy with her performance, I only remember the jp version!), and I love her family too! I'm really excited to see what you think on the future, you often have some good intuition on story moments, especially compared to my teenage self binging the series lol

I love how intrigued you are about things that some overlook. I have seen alot of reviews solely focused on the fights (which are still really entertaining) but I like that you pay attention to the world building, side characters, and the emotional themes too. It makes your vids seem so fresh and I always love your energy 😂

I haven’t yet! I enjoy the movie quite a lot. Haven’t read the books either.
I watched the movie when I was a kid and always enjoyed it. After I watched season 1 of the show I loved it so much I decided to read the book. I very much enjoyed the book as well but the show might be my favorite iteration of the story. It’s amazing and one of the best shows going right now. As of writing this comment they have aired two episodes of season 2 and episode 3 will air on Sunday. I know you’re a busy guy and might not be able to find the time but I really hope you do because in my opinion it’s well worth your time.

I just started reading 4-5 days ago because people said the manga was better and I'm a bit past this point but all I can say is that during the parts that you're reading Nel is indeed a sweet goober. A bit annoying but a goober nonetheless.

You can trust Nel, she is best waifu and probably the most pure and wholesome character in Bleach, Orihime is a close second but Nel manages to be as wholesome and pure AS A FUCKING HOLLOW. btw episodes 147-149 are canon. they are 'anime only' but kubo didnt have the time to put them in the manga so he asked the anime team to do it for him, i reccomend giving those 3 episodes a watch
