It's not illegal to fly with large amounts of cash in the US. Coming back to the US you will need to inform Customs
Anything over $10k cash has to be declared to U.S Customs flying out or coming back into the U.S...
You'll have to fill a bunch of forms and state the reasons you have over $10k.
And if somehow you manage to sneak it out of the U.S, the Chinese authorities will never allow you to enter their country with that much currency..
