You should've used the small blaster as the reticle, directly behind the camera. This would make it so the offset between the reticle and projectile would only be the distance between them, 2 blocks. This would be the most accurate you could make the reticle be. Then no matter how far or where you're aiming you always just aim two blocks over. As long as the reticle is not behind the camera you have a whole bunch of trigonometry to consider, with variable distance being a huge factor.
10:57 This weapon system was seriously considered for development at one point. They called it “Rods from God” and it was intended to fire 20’ long 1’ tungsten rods from orbit at underground installations. Basically, 12 TONS of hyper dense tungsten impacting the ground at Mach 10. The kinetic energy from such an impact would have been equivalent to a nuclear bomb, but without the radiation and fallout. Probably the only reason it was never actually built is because getting the rods up into orbit would have been insanely expensive due to their weight.
not to mention the fact that most of the US's tungsten is imported from China. There is ofc the alternative of depleted uranium, but then that opens a whole other can of worms, and completely eliminates that whole "no fallout" thing

I wonder if its possible to attach the camera to a piston and make it extend on front of the projectile, positioning the camera perfectly in the middle. Then make a logic sequence that, upon pressing a button, quickly retracts the pistons, enables the magnets and releases the projectile. It would make the aiming way easier, wouldnt it?
You could use pistons and a camera block to adjust your site in front of the Canon and then detachable blocks to turn them into scrap once it's fired. So the scrap is out of the way
not IMPRACTICAL- too expensive. Just think about that for a moment. If we could optimize it (price wise) so that the tactical advantage outweighed the price, then it would def get made
Hey yzuei I saw how you tried to stabilise the rod I thought id share how I would of Instead of using a lot of gyros I would set a helicopter engine linked to a OR gate on the release input and make the heli engine at 10 speed this keeps the missile/rod VERY stable
Maybe so aiming is more accurate, put a camera block on the end of the projectile, with a detachable block. I don’t know if it would still show the camera even if it’s disconnected. You know prolly. But maybe something to help the aiming
No once the creation gets disconnected so does the camera the only way around that is by putting a OR gate on the projectile and have it linked to the camera with a toggle but one serious problem about that is once you detach with that method you cannot exit the camera at all until you respawn to delete the camera (That's if the camera and OR gate survives the impact).
Yzuei, have you heard of "rods from god"? it is basically a satalite dropping super heavy tungstan rods, that have soo much kinetic energy they explode with simular damage to a ground penetrating nuclear bomb, minus the fallout. The start of the video reminded me of them, and, before watching this video, i think that is what you are most likely building. At least kind of, bc, well, the magnets shooting them.
Ok, so... "satellite", "tungsten" (or 'wolfram' if you prefer), and "similar". Furthermore, the rods didn't explode (because they had no explosives), they just penetrated through sheer mass and momentum, and their kinetic energy was comparable to a bunker buster bomb - nowhere NEAR nuclear. Which is basically why the program never happened, because with an efficiency comparable to conventional munitions, getting the tungsten rods into space was just too expensive.
Hi yzuei I haven’t been watching ur stuff in a while cause of school but I remember when u were smaller ur just improving video after video love the cannon btw ur kinda big now love you
I kinda think aiming servos would have been worth it. Rotation could probably be handled with a compass or maybe gyro stabilizer. Also I wonder if you could add pistons _as well_ for more force? Or how much benefit you'd get from just more magnets?
You should have a 2v2 battle where one of you builds a orbital cannon with a crazy max power core but it can't go over 20 kmh while the other person has a car that can only go 100 kmh with one missile and then just see who can last the longest in the car.

Don't think the zerodrag works if you have the discard block underneath... it needs to be blocking the "airflow" in the Builder. So to make it work, the whole build would need to be flipped to it's side, or just the railgun. Meaning it an be an even more devastating weapon :P
