Really goes to show that the switch honestly has the best line up of games as far as Nintendo consoles goes, I really do hope the next system has backward compatibility

when remakes and rereleases make up 50% of their announcements itd be detrimental for the next console to not be backwards compatible. I need super paper mario and twilight princess to release and ill be happy. If they then make a new console and none of those remakes are compatible then its just bad business.

I am forever gonna miss Charles Martinet as Mario, I've met him before and he was one of the nicest people I have ever met! I am very happy for him and I am looking forward for the new voice of Mario which sounds so much like Charles!
I’m a little disappointed we didn’t hear anything about Mario’s voice, but I’m sure we’ll hear something sooner or later. Overall this was a fun presentation and, of course, a fun reaction.
I really thought we were going to get that Martinet video!
Where did they confirm that they would announce who is the next voice of Mario? All I read is that Miyamoto would be in a video about Martinet's sendoff, but I don't remember seeing anything else on that.

Nintendo stated in an interview that we'd see the new voice actors in the credits of the game.

This game was loosely on my radar but wasn't sure about it. This direct really sold me on it! Dunno it it'll be a day 1 purchase but I'm definitely getting it now!

Can’t wait for this game, a 2d Mario that looks so much fun and has such appealing style. Sucks Rosalina isn’t playable but maybe she’s a unlockable, dlc down the road or hopefully in the next 3D Mario.
I wish there will be 2 DLC packs, each has 1 world each and 2 characters. Wario and Waluigi, and rosalina.

Wow, I was already looking forward to Wonder, but much more so after all the cool stuff they've shown in this Direct!
Great reaction as usual, couldn't agree more with what you said at the end so I only have a couple of really nice details to add:
-badges work in the same as Yoshi's Woolly World except for a couple of differences (there are even a couple that are staight up from that game) which is great as that was already really fun;
-Melon Piranha Plants are most certainly a reference to the Watermelon power-up from Yoshi's Island;
-love to see the Power Balloon from World and 64 DS back as a Wonder Flower effect!

I'm guessing they decided to do online this way to prevent certain people from griefing on others.
XD I thought that Elephant Form was only exclusive to Mario, I didn't think it was for ALL of the characters!
But all of the things in this direct are SO good, we Mario Fans are eating FANCIFUL today!
At 22:41 I think the direction you will be traveling is beginning area (the little grass area to the left) then Rock-Pipe Plateau then Petal Isles then to Fluff Puff Peaks then back to Petal Isles. I think judging by the map that Petal Isles will play somewhat like a hub world where it's how you travel to the other worlds. Which could explain why it has a name but not a number.

I don’t think Yoshi and Nabit can use the power ups (including the elephant one), that’s the trade off for them being easy mode. There’s not a single solitary shot of either them having ANY power ups.

I have terrible hand eye coordination due to a disability I have that affects it but this game looks incredible. So many new ideas and it looks so fun. I hope that everyone who is going to play it enjoys it

What are the odds of there being unlockable characters? Or DLC characters? There was a report saying there would be "in-game purchases" for Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Who else do you want to see turned into an elephant or inflated?
I doubt we’re going to see anything like that, but if we did I think a Rosalina campaign makes the most sense. Maybe that’s already in the base game as a postgame challenge thing.

No, it doesn't (and didn't before, either) say anywhere on the website that every character becomes a different animal. Not sure where people saw that.
Maybe people saw the term _Elephant Mario_ , and didn't realize that that's exactly how Nintendo called powerups in the pas - Penguin Mario, Cat Mario, Boomerang Mario, etc - not locked to Mario at all.
It's all fun and cool how mario and co turn into elephants until you remember that Elephants were at one point used in executions to crush prisoners, and what does mario do to his enemies? Crushing

At first I thought why only two toads but I think it's actually because the Red Toad has become Captain Toad and instead of a green toad they did Toadette. I WONDER if that is going to stay going forward in the series?

Agree that the limited interactions of online play looks like a good thing. New Supes is absolutely insufferable even in couch coop due to constantly getting stomped down pits and screen-scrolled to death, the clash of interests when it comes to getting stars, as well as that utterly exasperating little freeze-frame that occurs when someone dies, which always seems to coincide with your jump input so you end up just running off platform edges. Combine those with the spongey physics and ambiguous hitboxes and you get a miserable experience. Add lag to that and it'd be the easiest nope of your life.

The next Switch console is def coming out next year. Development kits have already been sent out to the studios.
Mario Maker 2 online multiplayer proves that full online co-op causes annoying lag issues (at least with the restrictions that nintendo developers almost certainly have on netcode)
i just hope metroid prime 4 will come out for my switch
I think the reason, honestly, for no Online full co-op is that Nintendo probably isn't confident in full interaction online. I imagine the ghost interactions are just much easier to do properly since it's just managing the locations of players and their static standees. It's no secret Nintendo is bad with online. We know this. I hoped for full online, even if only for friends, but I'm unsurprised. This is better than nothing, especially being able to do races with friends and have rooms to have the live ghosts of friends.
I'd rather they do limited online well than have full online poorly. And with how chaotic co-op in these games can be, it would inevitably go poorly.
Now that Daisy is finally playable in a mainline Mario game, Waluigi NEEDS to be playable in the next Wario Land!

This looks great other then the Fear of missing out (FOMO) online mode that would completely trivialize the game beyond all belief. Nothing wrong with making the game accessible but it being tied to an online FOMO is very questionable.

This game is going to sell SO. MANY. COPIES. Thinking about SMB Wonder this year and all of its innovations, plus a new 3D Mario next year as a possible launch title for the next Nintendo console…the Nintendo Switch renaissance seems to have no ending.

I haven't been interested in a 2D Mario since Yoshi's Island (if it counts), and haven't been interested in a general Mario game since Galaxy (I liked how it sounded, but didn't care much for the gameplay or art style). I'm so excited to have a fun new Mario game again!
Did you ever try Odyssey? In my opinion, it’s the best 3D Mario and maybe, to date, the best 3D platformer ever made.

Really? It’s kind of got a mix of art styles since it’s trying to be weird and jarring at times (hence “Odyssey”). So unless that was your problem with it, I’m sorry to hear that. It’s a pretty amazing game, honestly.
@BareBandSubscription it's hard to explain, but it just felt too "perfect" and "disney", and not in a good way. Like, a bit TOO refined, a bit TOO clean, a bit TOO presentable (for my tastes, at least). I don't know if that makes sense at all. I'm glad it exists though, as it seemed to bring other people happiness!

The elephant transformation doesnt really fit. Was thinkingbthered be more, but instead theres just more suits... i feel its a real miss, marketing-wise to not have elephant SUIT stuff...

It's like watching the final trailer knowing very well it's going to show way more than it should. Plus, it's Mario, not like there's a whole lot to a Mario game.
