@@JeskidoYT Not at all. Milliseconds of lag suck for tight precising platforming and fighting game inputs but most other things is not noticeable. You have so much time to revive. You won't feel 20ms or whatever for those kinds of interactions
@@MaximumCarnage- They probably mean actual lag. 20ms is super low. It's lower ping than I play most shooters. Regardless, I'm sure they can figure out how to make you play with others in your region so lag is minimal. There's also ways to compensate for lag. I'm not too worried.
I love the Metroid inspired badge abilities and enemies. Also the online is Dark Souls like. It's also a nice way to get around online lag since you can only interact with players but they can't interact with your enemies or world. I always heard online lag made Mario Maker co-op an issue. Makes sense since platforming needs to be precise. Super excited to play this one
The character abilities is a clever way to have a difficulty slider without asking the player to choose the difficulty. That said, it does suck if you wanted it to be on easy and couldn't play as Mario.
Looks great, might be one if my first 2D mario games in a loooong time, usually skip the 2D ones. Hope that framerate smoothes out before launch though.
So the standee menu. It looks like you get one for each power up for each player. Fire flower, bubble, drill, elephant. And then one more. What’s the missing power up?
@@ExaltedUriel they showed more gameplay today. I honestly should have known but it’s a star. But there’s 144 standees so there’s at least 99 others we don’t know about

Well, this confirmed to me Spidey 2 is the right choice for me on October 20th. I'll probably play this some time in December, really didn't see anything that screams I have to play this day 1 or even month 1. I'm sure it'll be fun enough, but in 2023 fun enough weirdly feels like phoning it in, honestly they'd have been better holding off until like January or something. Yup just finished it and it's 2D Mario Looks fun enough It feels like they didn't have time to make SMO2 so they just rushed that together so they had something to put out I know Mario RPG is in November and I've still got about 100 hours of BG3 before I can even look at Starfield So yeah got more than enough to hold me over
Lol this is my take: I want to be excited for this, and I like the badge addition and SOME of the power ups (the elephant power up just looks like a worse version of rambi in Donkey Kong because it's slow as hell), but I'm sorry there's a pretty important aspect to this that just keeps me unimpressed from what they continued to show. I'm not going to talk about what I think about the aesthetic of this game because it pisses people off, so that aside the biggest problem here is this game looks like it continues the trend of really mid and subpar level design. Like, on a technical level New Super Mario Bros levels are well constructed, but in terms of fun, having them designed around multiplayer just hurts it so much in my opinion. I know nobody wants to hear this, it's fine if you're into the game. But what they've shown here just feels like more extremely long stretches of grass. In addition, this kind of casually revealed that they are going for more standard level themes again. Let's go ice, lava and water! When I compare this to DK Tropical Freeze which is imo the gold standard for modern Nintendo platformers, it's just so unoriginal. Also, they seem like they're marketing the wonder flower gimmick as some WaaaaaaaaCCckky thing to show you "this game is different and new!" when in reality for the most part it's pretty much the same as any other scripted sequence or event. Like think about this with me for a minute... in New Super Mario Bros, every level has its own gimmick that is iterated on, right? This seems like that, minus the iteration if it takes place in one area a stage. It sort of feels like how with Paper Mario Origami King they put this big emphasis on the thousand fold arms, even though in reality all it is is an animation that plays when you interact with a spot. It's cool if you're impressed by this, though, and like I said, badges are neat and some additions like the characters are cool. But is it the massive step up in content and quality of content that I personally wanted from New Super Mario Bros? No, not to me.
@@Cheesehead302 It is pretty clear that DK is the platformer for pros, mario 2D multiplayer, mario 3d for adventurers, and kirby for babies. And that's why also a platformer Wario has no place at Nintendo.
