I bought our 05’ LS 430, 72,000 miles in 2019 $11,000 for our teen son as his first car, knowing he’d be in a solid car with enough power to learn how to drive and handle the v8. I drive it now as my full time car, and won’t ever get rid of it. It is the best car!!! It was such a find. Garage kept, couple vacationed months out of the year, no one had ever sat in the rear seats. Totally beautiful. Blue with cream interior.
What a beauty I know that feeling well. I picked up a ‘89 300E with 18000 miles in 2000 - the previous owner an 85 year old lady received it new for her 75th birthday. Now 212000 miles and still running like a Swiss Watch. Gets out every week. Blue on cream in same condition is very definitely a life-timer, one to pass on eventually to the very most grounded grandkid. Enjoy. Australia
Please don’t give an LS as a first car! Anyone won’t appreciate it, and will likely destroy it or damage it. Give them a disposable Camry until they hone their skills.
I've never seen anyone else take the time and care to do the repairs that you have done to the LS430. I sure hope the car lasts another 625,000 miles. Thank you to Mrs. TCCN for her comment. It's easy to question a vehicle owner when that owner decides to take it to the level that this LS430 has been brought up to. The saying, "Take good care of your vehicle and it will take care of you" doesn't seem to be enough of a saying for this vehicle. The care goes way beyond that saying in a very good way!
Thank you AMD for showing us a detail restoration of the 600 000 miles Lexus LS 430. Your dedication and attention to detail makes you a great mechanic. So glad Mrs. Car care nut approve of your purchase. Happy wife / Happy life 💓

I enjoy your channel thoroughly! I have always loved my LS430 over the last 17 years and your project car reaffirms my love for mine for many miles to come. Currently at 172,000, 2006 LS!
LS430 was the best car I ever drove. Preferred it to the S Class. I drove 60,000mls a year in and around London, until I retired when it had 250,000 trouble free miles on the clock.
Hi AMD, I love all of the videos you made on this car!!!! That said I want to let you know that I replaced the rotors and pads on my LS430 and never had any issues. Pads were Akebono. Your philosophy is that all parts are important, all bolts are important, all clips are important. You as a mechanic are like Babe Ruth was at baseball. You are incredible!!!!
that LS 430 v8 and that Toyota Century V12 is a MUST have collection in my garage someday!🙏 It would be nice seeing you have a series on that Toyota Century V12 like you did to the LS
I've put bulbs in dashes of many cars I've owned, and it's always a fidelly job. But when you get it done and something lights up that hasn't for a long time because you kept putting it off, it is very satisfying. The easiest one to do was my 83 505 Peugeot. It had one bulb in a little holder under the dash, and then fiber optic cabels ran to all the buttons and dials. That did not cover the binnacle, but that just slipped straight out over the wheel and unplugged.😊
You can say it... the kids are all asleep... a green prophylactic! Thank you for an enjoyable hour and a half today. Memories of my dad the mechanic, who would have turned 101 this July 7th. I was born exactly 9 months after his 44th birthday. Thanks Mom & Dad for the LATE show! NO prophylactic!
Watching this, after picking up today my 2011 Corolla with 2.0 engine (Asia) from the dealer, and I had all suspension parts replaced with OEM. Motor mounts (followed CCN's advice to just replace all 4), front struts + mounts, control arms + ball joints, rear shocks, stabilizer links and sway bar bushings. I wish I had done it sooner as I was starting to dread driving it on roads with not so good parts (daily route), but oh boy, the car is like new, feels like gliding over the roads now. Came around 2 grand total, but every cent well spent. The car is virtually rust-free, engine is great (except for occassional VVTI rattle), transmission is great, 70k miles. New cars are too expensive these days, I reckon, I'm keeping this one until end of time.
I have loved watching these series of videos on the 600,000 mile lexus. Very informative, and I would be happy to do certain jobs on these LS cars with such videos as reference.
Awesome Video AMD. I love that you are breathing life into this old yet far from retired Lexus LS.. i also love the happy little ECHO in the background. I used to own a 2000 Echo had 230000 on it when i totaled it. Beat car i ever owned. Have a blessed 4th of July!!

🎉🎉 watched all your episodes 🎉🎉 these episodes made me buy 2005 LS430 100,00 km and I am bringing it back to life making it clean and maintaining it every day with something
Having recently replaced front and rear brake pads and rotors on my 99 ES300 with Toyota original the difference in noise, dust and feel is night and day. The rotors were original to the car and the pads had been replaced countless times with cheap ones from the auto parts store. I did the fronts first and when I did I cleaned all 4 wheels of all brake dust. In the couple of weeks for me to get the parts for the rear the difference in the amount and quality of dust which built up was unbelievable. The front wheels had a light tan haze and the rear had a thick black layer. The pads are clearly akebono pads as it says "AK" on them. I had bought the Akebono ProAct before I went ahead and bought the Toyota OEM and even though they're similar they're different. The way the groove is cut in them is at a different angle.
After working on a few jet engines with extremely tight working areas and magnesium fasters, I had to get crafty with holding a bolt in the end of a socket on the mother of all extensions without dropping it into a non-clearance area and became known to use a low bonding strength superglue on one wall of the socket to a bolt flat. Or if I had a spot where I could get a 'grabby tool' pincher if I goofed my insertion, a little thumb tack putty smushed into the socket works like a treat!

I enjoy the presentation you do when working on cars. The editing/pacing has an educational and easy flow to it. Keep it up! I reserve my right to edit my comment should you start telling me about mental health, hair growth or meal replacements. 😂
Another great video AMD! You are a true master at work! I have a question, I'm trying to source parts for a soarer, who do you use in Japan for original parts?
I am hoping that my 2014 GS350 AWD lasts as long. It only has 32000 miles on it and I maintain it very well. It is garaged when not on the road and I try not to drive it when there is salt on the road in winter which is not easy in SE Wisconsin. Your car is beautiful!
Is there any concern that using an impact wrench to tighten everything down can over-torque or under-torque bolts? Maybe cause damage? Is there a technique or just max out everything? I always wonder this when I watch these videos. I do my own DIY car work and use a torque wrench but would like to use an impact wrench instead. I’m just not sure when and how it is ok to do this.
Fun fact - I waited to buy a great used LS400, until my divorce was final, locked into stone. The divorce and Lexus?....amongst the best decisions in my life :) "If it flies, floats, or fornicates ...it's cheaper to rent it" My first flight instructor. Mind you.....he said "cheaper", not better :)
So should you wait til your divorce is finalised to buy a car? Even a relatively cheap one, like an old LS ? Is that what your lawyer said? Lol sorry, youtube comments are the best.
@@southerncharity7928 You have obviously never been through a divorce. The reason he had to wait until the divorce was final is because had he purchased the car before the divorce was final, he would have still been "married" when he purchased the car, and the car would have been considered "shared marital assets" and she would have been entitled to half the car's value when the divorce was final. Sometimes the wait is necessary, but also worth it!
I am old GTO owner who loves these video's. Thank you big time! Did we drop an edit from between 10-15:26. Saw the loosing of left and right mount to raise engine, without content on the bolt tightening on lowering. Did I missing something. Sensitive to suff like that, as I left a bearing out once on a connecting rod on the GTO. The tapping sound got bigger and bigger. Had to do a short block after that mistake, but hey I was 19 go figure.
My wife's car is a '06 LS430 Ultimate that we bought used , 1 owner, at 100k miles. It's ar 228k now and beginning to see some front end issues. Steering wheel doesn't return to straight by itself on lane changes. Slight clunking on bumpy residential roads. We've swapped out the air suspension for regular coil strut kit, and done major milestone maintenance. Can you give me the sequence of front end parts that typically wear out...in order? My wife is a cautious, slow, easy driver at all times. Thanks for any advice. Excellent channel, thanks!!

What a labor of love !!! Can't wait for the final reveal and cost 😊
What a beautiful sentiment!! Bless you!
Wow I really enjoy watching you working on your project, i understand why you do it , im in love with my 95 impala ss , people say why don’t you sale that old grandpa car and stop throwing money on maintenance or repairs. Is it worth it? No but I enjoy even working on it. I do believe that the Ls430 is the best LS ever made. Enjoy and may God bless you and your family.
Isn't wrenching fun. been there before. 73 now and do easy things but pay for those hard jobs. Patients of a saint. Love your vids.
I rarely comment, but I have to say you are incredible and do such a great job!!!!
A car care nut upload means it’s a good day
The Toyota flagship! Legendary "Century"! Wow! ;)
I plan to enjoy it for many years :)
I think it known as “Celsior” in Japan.
@@dietersmythe9649no, Celsior is the LS before the Lexus brand was popular in Japan. Century is Century.
i have been a mechanic for 45 years and that is still the job i fear the most
AMD, you are the best 👏👏👏 I only wish I lived closer to your shop.
Me too. I'm about 275 miles away. That's doable, but I wish he was closer, like Indy.
@@walmartdog1142 I'm in upstate New York, near Syracuse 😓
Ok, the car is beautiful, it’s time to start putting some serious miles on this puppy. Not going to get to a million miles sitting in the shop….the videos are great, I’ve learned so much about taking care of my Tacoma , Thank You!

shoulders slump and fist hits the work bench
As someone that has removed the dash of his Toyota for some rewiring and is now starting to reinstall it, I feel that frustrated energy so hard. lol
Take Slow this is your friend Dave. You can remember me from another video saying You added a new to Master Machanic on that Toyota Truck. So let your misshaps happenen Love you and yours KEEP UP Your Great Work. Your Friend River Dave.
Great video. I have question did you ever repair the glove box ..I hear that the glove box latch fails on these and is non-replaceable ..is this true ....trying to fix mine.
AMD, I expect this is Part 1 of a 10 part Grand Finale series. 😁😉🤣
This video was informative. I learned how shocks and struts work!
I enjoy the presentation you do when working on cars. The editing/pacing has an educational and easy flow to it. Keep it up!
I reserve my right to edit my comment should you start telling me about mental health, hair growth or meal replacements. 😂
This is more exciting than any Netflix series.
Netflix ain't shit compared to this guy
Thank you from New Zealand 🙏🏾🇳🇿
Really enjoyed this series AMD. And excited about the next one
Only danger is using a 1/2 inch impact. The smaller impacts won’t damage anything unless you are wailing away at it for a long time
Is that small gray car an Echo? I still see those around.
Good update keep it up the good work and God bless you 👍👍👍
Fun fact - I waited to buy a great used LS400, until my divorce was final, locked into stone.
The divorce and Lexus?....amongst the best decisions in my life :)
"If it flies, floats, or fornicates
...it's cheaper to rent it"
My first flight instructor.
Mind you.....he said "cheaper", not better :)
Every man’s pagan ritual😅 it’s cheaper to keep her.
@@VooDooDaddy46what about the cash he would have used for the car? Wouldn’t she also grab half of that anyway? How to get around that?
I really enjoy this series, I hope we get over 20 seasons
I understand you want OEM but for that front splash guard I found one for my 03 Camry at A1 Auto and it was a good fit.
I love your negotiation tactics
