Anybody can take these mosaics with a Seestar with a few button pushes, but it take exceptional brilliance and knowledge to process it to such beautiful presentation quality images. Well done!
Thank you for the excellent video. I have and adore the s50. It has produced similar results to yours - very satisfying - but it's the wider fov that I really want. I have the s30 on order. My two requests that would improve these wonderful scopes are; 1) being above to use in equatorial mode (like the dwarf 3 allows) and 2) use the wide field lens of the s30 in astronomy mode (I believe it can currently only be used in scenery mode). Imagine the huge fov milky way shots you could get with that !! Anyway, thanks again for the video and look forward to clear skies again as I still haven't managed to imagine Orion yet.
Just received the Seestar S50 a few days ago. I know it has a narrower FOV than the S30, but I'm excited to mess around with mosaics once the weather is clear.
Is S30 and S50 have same mosaics capability? I planning to buy one but confused about for which to go, S30 resolution seams to be low then S50 for sun and moon photography.
Hi, if you get a chance, could you please tell me what software you used to edit the images, and did you stack them yourself, as the final images look to good to have come straight from the S30. 👍
@@andrewhulme8672 The Space Koala has recently done a video on stacking and processing Seestar images. I think she was using PixInsight if I remember correctly.
Thank you for this video I was wondering if I should keep my pre order for the Seestar S30 after seeing some videos but they didn’t show the process of taking mosaic images as a screen recording and yours did. I’m more excited now than ever for it to be released. Thanks again!
Depends on if you want to settle on what the S30 can do! it's the equivalent of the "Kodak "Instamatic" for astrophotography. Some will want to improve their results, just like those that bought Canon, Nikon and Hasselbad cameras.
It would take a while to shoot, but you could manually on a pc mosaic mosaics to fix the corner issue I think. Maybe crop the edges off and stack the best parts.
I took a picture of the right half of your final picture with the Askar 71F on my beloved Star Adventurer GTi and my daily DSLR behind it (Canon 90D) - and it just blew me away 🤩! But the image you present is very impressive as well! Just one serious question: Was it the same fun for you using the S30? Because it being difficult seems to part of the fun to me, the relief when it worked out … just asking!
Great results, thanks. Can you show more of your post processing workflow ? What software you use etc. That would be excellent, because the end results you preent here are very good, espe cially the colouirs !s
Impressive images Damon, I would like to see the aquistion software allow you to have a function of taking a few short exposures just to get the detail of the Trapzium for example. I am going to invest in one of these puppies, it would be really handy for when I am off to work.
Damon, nice video. The mosaics turned out great and gave me some ideas. I like the Orion belt upside down. I have bortle 7 skies and haven't been able to get the level of detail you did on M31. But, I have done any post-processing on the image.
Thanks for great video! A beautiful showcase of the capability. Is the sensor of S30 astro modified like HA or full spectrum, or something else? Cheers mate
I have the exact same setup except I like to take pictures of the moon and the planets. same with some galaxies like Andromeda, triangulum, Whirlpool, cigar, bodes, and the Leo Triplet. Also with nebulas for example the crab, Orion, flame, horse head, North American, dumbell, and the Helix nebula also I know this is a nebula but I do take pictures of star clusters like the Pleiades, Omega Centaurus, and the beehive cluster also telescopes I use Celestron 127 EQ powerseeker and the seestar s30.
Hey Scotting, what software system do you recommend for processing images? I currently use an S50 and Siril to capture and process my images. The photos I have processed always look pixelated or lack quality, so I am curious about how you were able to get the detail you showed in this video. Just curious; also, thank you for the fantastic astronomical content.
Is it me or is it using a lot more battery in Mosaic mode? With the processing of stitching the pictures? If you look at the battery indicator and the amount of time of collected images it seems you will need a battery nearby if you want to do more than 1 object per night. Just an observation, like the video and pictures taken.
That is crazy, this is the first time I seen this video and I was laughing. I was going to also capture Orion’s Belt with the HorseHead & Flame Nebula. I saw that I was able to capture it using the S30 Framing mode. I got shut down by clouds & fog. That came out really good and I’ll may try again tonight. 👍
Just out of interest how long did it take to capture the exposures on these targets. I've found that on my S50 it can take over four hours to capture an hour and a half a worth of exposure due to frame rejection.
A very interesting video. As someone who has only really used a optical telescope. How good do you find taking the images ? - Looking at similar images on Google ETC is great, however as good as they are. I'll use the example of the first time I saw Saturns rings through my optical telescope it was well I'm not sure how to describe it. Changing.......
Anyone know when these will start shipping? Bought directly from zwo on November 1. They havent sent an update but originally said late decemeber. This video is awesome but killing me!
Damon, I'm torn between the S30 and the Dwarf 3. Would the equatorial mode on the Dwarf 3 negate the noise in the corners of the mosaic produced by the S30? Are you going to record a comparison between the 2 scopes? I'm happy to pay more if the Dwarf 3 is the better 'scope.
Hey damon I've got a question so for Xmas I'm getting a skywatcher 250p and I'm wondering was it a good purchase also what music are you using don't know why but it bring a realy calming and odd atmosphere
In the video you state that the s30 was a 4k image. I went to look into buying one and its 1080p images.. IS there something im missing and over looking
So are those unnaturally straight streaks through some of the images due to the stitching process of the mosaic? The North American Nebula there's a few, and the Sadr & Crescent nebula there's one right in the middle. May be others, but my purpose isn't to critique your photos, I'm just trying to understand what I'm seeing.
What would it take for SpaceX to mount telescopes like this on the space facing side of Starlink satellites? Then allow people to connect to the telescope and individually control it.

Great video as always, keep up the good work I've owned the S50 for about 3 months now and I absolutely love it.
Hey dude this might be the best s30 video on RUclips. I learned new things about UI from this video over more formal reviews Thanks!
The Orion Belt photo is my favorite. It's breathtaking! I have a S30 on order due to arrive in mid-February and that will be my first target!
I’m amazed by the detail and beauty of these mosaic masterpiece. Thank you for sharing great insights, Damon! 💯

hey damon, just wondering if you have tried the seestar s30 with it being in eq mode or with a broadband filter

I was wounded if you have any info on if you can take images of the Milky Way with the wide view camera
What post-processing do you do? Or if you've covered this in a previous video, which one?

i think most ppl use an ai software to sharpen and remove that pixelated look. dont know what program specifically tho

Damon... So how do you determine how many exposures you need to take to produce these images ❓
The Seetsar works it all out for you. Usually takes an hour of 10 sec exposures for a mosaic

Appreciate your response 👍
How do you calculate the exposure time for every observation. That confuses me everytime I see something space related

Yes, the equatorial mode of the Dwarf3 eliminates the problem with the corners.
I'm new to this but if you're concerned with the corners not being good, couldn't you just make your mosaic larger and crop out the corners?
felt like forever since your last upload !
