Muskurahat is indeed a beautiful composition, however I find it quite similar to the ghazal "rasme ulfat ko nibhayen to nibhayen kaise". Especially the the first phrase rasme ulfat... and muskurahat, the notes are the same. Its quite possible that they sound the same as both songs belong to the same raag (both the ghazal rasme ulfat and muskurahat are based on raag madhuvanti if I'm not wrong). Or maybe SLB got inspired by this particular ghazal that led to the creation of Muskurahat. Just a simple observation! If you enjoyed Muskurahat do listen to Rasme ulfat, its an amazing ghazal, you will surely be mesmerized!

But kuch toh hai jo apko khatakta hai about him.. for me he is the most complete singer of this decade.. after sonu ji if there has been a singer who is not constrained to one genre its Arijit..
Muskurahat has to be his best classical based song.. but the appreciations you gave to other Singers compared to what of muskurahat was simply biased..

You are right. I felt that he is baised or might be jealous. Muskarahat is a masterpiece song. But he never praised arijit da. In this video he praised all singer but he doesn't used appropriate word to praise arijit da voice. Because he is a most versatile singer after respected Sonu ji.

Yes that was very biased, I think he is not completely jealous but he just not like the fact that huskiness in voice can also have positive impact in singing.
He is even better than Sonu nigam sorry to say that but no one is as versatile as my man Arijit is, nobody gives a fuck if anyone praise him or not people love him and will keep loving him... So called music reviewers can never match even a single percent of him 😌❤️

Jab saiyaan (my most fave) is similar to na jao saiyaan (geeta dutt) , meri baat rahi mere man mein from sahib Bibi aur ghulam
Shikayat (2nd fave) is similar to Teri mehfil mein (shamsad begum ,lata M.) From mughl e Azam , because archana jee have same voice texture of shamshad begum jee
Meri jaan (3rd fave)vibe is similar to jata kahan hai diwane (geeta dutt) from Cid.
One who loves music of 50s-60s will love this album , I'm so grateful of Sanjay sir for this treat to retro music addicted music lovers 🙏😌❤️
Jab saiyaan is similar to the most of the sad songs of 60s , this song is made for portraying Jashn but in terms of pace of song and catchy antara this so similar. Just like na shikwa hai koi songs.

The entire credit of 'Muskurahat' goes to Arijit Singh. Composition is of course good but no other singer could have sung the song the way great Arijit did.
And for me, Muskurahat is the best song of this album.
Shikayat is my favourite from this album, qawalis were missing from Bollywood scene, glad SLB sir made this song, Sanjay and Vishal Bhardwaj sir is just like ARR they don't adjust songs for fitting the NEW GENERATIONS

another reason for 2:59 I think, is that the scene was initially meant to be both of them at a "club", due to covid it became the scene in the car (An AMAZING OUTCOME BTW) so I guess it was for that aesthetic

Muskurahat is maybe the most melodious song composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir so far .. Because in this composition all the 12 notes of an octave he has used.
Only one note, the komal dha was missing so he introduced raag kirwani(his very favourite raag maybe, he has used it in diwani-mastani too) at the last antara.

Just heard (only) the first line of muskurahat. Looks like Raag madhuwanti with shades of Madhukauns (listen to rasm-e-ulfat for the madhuwanti reference, don't know an example song in Madhukauns). Although, in the antara, the song also uses shuddha gandhar and komal nishaad (both non-madhuwanti notes). Also, my favourite non-classical composition in madhuwanti would be ko birahini ko dukh from the Meera bhajan album by Lata Mangeshkar.
