I liked your review of the DROCON UDI U31W that I ordered one. Have been out flying today. The video quality is superb along with photographs. It is a quality product, well made and everything works as advertised. I got a good 30 meters out before out of range warning went off. A great flying and stable quadcopter. I am take this one on my next trip. I also purchased the Hubsan H501S about 18 months ago, works splendid, no crashes or problems what so ever! Thank you for all your great reviews, I watch you daily.
I asked Drocon about range and SD recording on board the quad. Here is there answer: Thank you for contacting us with your concern. Kindly note that the max flying control distance is 80 meters, we believe that you could let it takes the SD card to make videos within this height. Please do not be worried. If you have any other questions, please feel free to let us know.
I think that the position of the phone placement so close to the antennas is the issue. The WiFi signal from the phone would have created huge interference on 2.4Ghz at that distance. If I placed the phone on a tripod next to me, it might have gotten much better range.

Good camera, poor motor power and very limited range. A pity as it could have and should have been so much better.

It's real range is probably more than what I flew out to. But it's telemetry warning beep is set to about 20 meters.
