The ECU is the failing. They (NIU) tell you to remove the battery over winter to protect the battery from frost damage and discharge - which is like 3-4 months. The ECU goes flat in 24 hours. Useless. You have no alarm, no GPS, no SMS. The bike can be stolen quite easily. It also takes 24hrs to charge the ECU once you plug the main battery in again. I wrote to NIU telling them it would be a brilliant idea to have a passive ‘sleep mode’ built in to the ECU, so that only if the bike is disturbed - like a car alarm. Would it need to wake up and send a report to the user. That way it could give many weeks protection. NIU never got back to me, surprise, surprise. I ‘only’ own two NIUs in my family. NQI Sport and the MQI+ So I do know what I’m talking about.
I agree somewhat. The whole bike alarm system doesnt work if the battery is removed, rendering it useless most of the time, since most ppl take out the batteries to recharge I never had to leave my niu too long without battery, since winter is mild where i live, but that sounds like a big problem with the ecu battery
Just because you own two scooters does obviously not make you understand the electronics inside it. During sleep mode it still needs to power all the sensors in order to realise a change in position or motion. So you suggested them quite literally what they are already doing. No wonder they don't responded you. You could have just feedbacked that the ECU Battery is too small without your half-baked interpretations.
I own three NIU scooters in China. Three of my NIU are rebuilt with 72V 120 a. 60V 80 a and 60V 50a batteries. All of them can go far above 100km with good speed and alot of fun too!
But the problem of all battery operated motor bike doesn't last for long many hours ... It won't last for 8-9 hours of travel without charging again, and it is not advisible for roaming around in wilderness without any worry that u can go back home with enough battery power ...ahahaha..
@@kevindarkstar so it means pal, these e-bike is so totally limited, unlike motorbikes run by gas that you can use it anywhere specially the Enduro motorbike... Well, admitedly all vehicles has pros and cons whether battery or gas operated 👍👍....hehehe
@@yrejhzsaysonna308 you get what you pay for. An electric scooter costs only somewhat of around a quarter of the costs of an gas powered Scooter. But you can't leave urban and suburban areas. On the other hand, you could use the saved money to rent a bike for a weekend and have fun with that. No need to drive something made for off road through daily traffic just to commute.
Drove so many scooters and have to admit, NIU is the absolute best
Couldn't agree more!
I fully agree
Drive a NIU scooter for many years now and it's the absolute best!
You forgot NiU Gova 03 and Gova 05 model 😉😁
Hi I want one of this am inn Kenya
Niu escooter is a Leading manufacturer on EV ? It was , but now no🤣 Watching from Shanghai 😂
What do you think is the leading brand of electric scooters / motorcycles from China that have been sold worldwide? I'm a fairly layman.
uqi = Ugly qi... 😂
Do you hate waiting to refuel your car? Where do you live that gas stations are overrun like that 😂
Especially when you will have to wait about 4 hours to charge your scooter 🤷🏻♂️
@@kevindarkstar you are supposed to charge it while you do something else. Stop standing in front of it waiting.

Well in fairness to these types of ev they are primarily made with urban areas in mind
