I vividly remember the Friday night I first heard this performance; watching the broadcast in lovely company with a glass of cheap, but nice, red wine in my hand. If I ever need a 'happy place' to go to, this one is as good as it gets. Sublime.

Hadnt heard of the blue Nile until seeing this episode of Jules. It really grabbed my attention as a strikingly original song with all the minimalist parts coming together so beautifully. Incredible vocal performance also very strong lyrics. Talked about it the next day with friends who had also seen the band for first time the day before, we all loved it. Later that day , looking through someone's record collection we discovered a copy of Hats, needless to say it became a soundtrack for that summer. Then came Peace at last later that same week, which is still one of my very favourite recordings of all time. It helped that I was living in Glasgow at the time! I used to see Paul on Byres Road fairly frequently but I never wanted to bother him, but I now wish I could of told him how much his music means to me. God bless you kid

Sadly didn't get to Glasgow- would love to visit- had ancestors who lived in the Gorbals in the 19th century. I'd sell everything I own to get over there if Paul Buchanan would do some live shows.

Sophisti-Pop. Wow, an incredibly tight display of musicianship. Is it safe to say that Paul Buchanan is an unsung genius of the 80s? Check out their first two LPs if you don't believe me. I definitely see some parallels with Cathal Coughlan of Microdisney, another unheralded 80s band steeped in artiness and quirkiness. Check out their stellar album "Everybody is Fantastic (1983)". Oh, and The Railway Children, another idiosyncratic pop band from the region. Hail the British Isles! Cheers.

Affirming the moment, inscribed in the miraculous digital realm, I am brought to tears listening to this.
It's funny how life can catch up with you since I overlooked this gem when it was released having initially been somewhat disappointed and dismissive of 'Peace At Last', following the previous two albums.
Twenty years later, with the advent of The Internet, I happened upon an old clip of the band performing live at Glastonbury and on hearing this song for the first time proper thought “what wonderful tune is this?”.
Reflecting back to 1996 when 'Peace At Last' was released it seems to me to have been a more innocent age, tinged with the hopeful anticipation of the coming millennium...
How sad we now find ourselves in 2018, under the unnecessary imposition of austerity, precipitated by the banking chicanery of 2008, where in spite of being supposedly “all in this together” the rich continue to get richer while cut backs inflict terrible suffering on society, revealing how profoundly enslaved we have become to the extraordinary control exerted by the construct of money...
In a world in which Providence ensures there is otherwise more than enough to sustain a dignified existence for all, how tragic that in our collective weakness we bind ourselves to mental chains, condemned to shame and denial, stuck in this wretched paradigm. If only we had greater faith in this miracle of life and were honourable enough to share in its existence we could overcome poverty, and by extension war.
We have only ourselves to blame, yet even in the face of such melancholy the yearning sound of Paul Buchanan's voice is a great comfort to the body and soul, its life affirming timbre keeps us defiantly faithful in gratitude and even joy.
It's curious to note that it's taken me much longer to appreciate this tune than the infamous time for those who recall between the creation of the band's succeeding albums... and with the benefit of hindsight I reflect how the melancholy funk of those electric guitars from the driek streets of Raintown answered the sound of Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards o're The Pond in Manhattan; so hence The Blue Nile!
Amidst the tall buildings reflecting back to the country where Donald Trump's mammy sprung, may we yet realise the strength to secure 'Peace At Last'... 'it's coming yet for all that':
    ruclips.net/video/y0BvuFj4iS4/видео.html
Amen & Awomen, caught up in this big rhythm...
