The Multidisc should never be used as a lid when a pot is over heat on the stove. It can melt. The Multidisc can be used as a lid for keeping something warm when the pot is not on the stove. For cooking on the stove, use the base of the frying pan as a lid.
Cris, Glad you decided to do a review of the trangia system. I have used mine several hundred times. I use propane with the gas burner. Lixada sells an adapter for the propane. Trangia sells non-stick pots and pans. They are a little more expensive. Users of trangia need to be aware of the center heat characteristic of the system. The flame is not spread out evenly. I have learned to get around that by keeping the flame very low. I also move the food from the center of the fry pan when it is obviously getting to hot. Just part of the cooking process with the Trangia system. I have also developed a method of steam cooking with the Trangia. Works great with vegetables. I love my system. I would highly recommend it as it is very well built in Sweden and not to expensive overall.-Coop
Great video. I just bought a Trangia for my boat galley. It offers both gas and alcohol burners for a wide range of cooking options. The protective suround makes it ideal for cooking in a boat where there is often movement even in a sheltered position, enhancing safety.
In my many years of backpacking I used alcohol stoves almost exclusively as part of the minimalist approach. Trangia was always the most dependable and frequently used. That said I probably own about 8 different brands of alcohol stoves with associated support stands. Nice to see that Trangia has offered this cook set to complement their stove. If space wasn't an issue I'd purchase that cook set for my truck camping (I use a Partner Steel propane stove). But it would be a really useful backup for other uses. And it sells for a great price.
Ah, yes. The Partner Steel propane stove. After looking it up (again) and seeing it, I remember your saying that's the stove you use now. It's a rugged beast of a stove. Nice.
The Trangia cook sets are brilliant. Here in Australia I only use the gas burner during fire bans. During winter I am mostly using a Kelly Kettle Trekker for solo trips. Thanks for sharing.
I have the 27 nonstick and don’t forget the handy dandy mini which is the 28 but the mini is hard to find these days, the mini stays in my car at all times either for emergencies or the spare of the moment hike with lunch on coffee. The gas insert comes very handy in case of fire bans as alcohol stoves are not permitted, I bought my insert years ago and is a Bullin which fits perfectly but much more affordable. I absolutely love mine and use it all the time making sure I bring the gas insert just in case. Normally I use Heet (yellow bottle) if I’m cooking outside with plenty of ventilation although I use my mini for coffee when I’m in a hotel but indoors I use alcohol, not Heet as the fumes methanol are not good when indoors. I absolutely love it, I cook with it, the windshield is fantastic, portability and weight is great, I’ve pan fried steaks, made breakfast and even baked with an Omnia oven, the add ons are great and all fits perfectly and compact, I also have the strainer/ cutting board. I highly recommend it, great video as usual. PS you can use the simmering ring with the alcohol stove instead of the gas.
Thank you so much, Carmen. So much wonderful information here. When you use the Omnia oven with the Trangia stove, are you setting it directly on the stove base?
The omnia oven is a must have if you own a trangia in my opinion. The systems pair up nicely! Really expands your cooking possibilities into the baking realm.
Thanks for reviewing the whole Trangia cook system. I have been looking at just the Trangia alcohol stove part & a simple stand for an emergency backup stove for about $24, but this is interesting setup. I already have a stainless steel Stanley camp set with 1 liter pot.
You're welcome, Karin. This set could bring a bit of joy and relief to cooking meals in an emergency. Everything works so well for it being a relatively light-in-weight set.
I love the trangia cook sets. Low and slow works best for cooking. I use a nonstick spray for easy clean up. I travel in a teardrop trailer and find that the compact design is a great feature for my tiny kitchen. 💕
Great Video again! Do you know if you can use wood as a fuel for this? Amy and I have bought a few acres of land for camping/bug out purposes and we're looking for something that uses wood in emergencies. We'll have to post some photos on Patreon. You and Bill take good care of yourselves. LOVE seeing the puppy!! God Bless you both!
Thank you so much, Ray and Amy. Congrats on the land purchase. So cool! What I'm reading is that because of the relatively low melting point of aluminum, the Trangia base probably won't hold up to use for burning wood.
No, never use wood, is an alcohol stove designed exclusively for that purpose or gas with the specific insert but you can purchase a Firebox, I believe there’s a link in here, the Firebox uses wood but can also support a Trangia burner, there are different sizes of Firebox, another piece of equipment that will last forever.
Carmen is spot-on about the Firebox stove. So far, it's the most compact and versatile stove Bill and I have found. The 5" Firebox stove is Bill's favorite. Here's a link to it on Amazon: amzn.to/3UT3TXO I like the little 3" Firebox Nano. Here's that Amazon link: amzn.to/3UT3TXO [The links above are Wobbly Otter Amazon affiliate links.] Firebox Stove "value kits" on their website: www.fireboxstove.com/value-ki%E2%80%8Bts I'll be doing a review of the Firebox Stove "Scout" soon too.

Yeah, other commenters have said that too. I didn't have any trouble with it in that regard. I'm sure there is a way to turn up the heat to a point where it causes a problem, but I have no intention of doing that.
I had wondered about the size of the 27. The 25 is a very workable and versatile size without feeling too big. I hope the 25 will be the perfect fit for you.

Thanks for all your wonderful insights, Coop. It's a nice and complete set. Such a joy to use.
Does the lixada adapter have any specifications or just look up lixada propane adapter . Can you attach a 20lbs propane tank to it
Great video. I just bought a Trangia for my boat galley. It offers both gas and alcohol burners for a wide range of cooking options. The protective suround makes it ideal for cooking in a boat where there is often movement even in a sheltered position, enhancing safety.
Thank you. Sounds like the perfect choice for your boat galley. Very cool.

@@wobblyotteroutdoors directly on the windshield just like when you were cooking the fish on the fry pan.
I see. Nice.

Awesome. Will have to check it out.
You manage to both educate and entertain at the same time. I look forward to seeing your videos.
Aww, thank you kindly, Max. Sure do appreciate that. You're letting us know that we're on the right track.

Perfect.
Outstanding! You could add two of the Trangia plates to the bottom. They fit perfectly.
Thanks. Huh. We'll, that's cool.

I really love trangia. Nice video. Thank you!
They do make nicely thought-out gear. Thank you, and you're most welcome.
I have the 27 with non stick pans. Recently got the gas burner.
Don’t think it’s safe to put multi disc on top of pan while it’s over the heat
I love your energy! thank you for the video
Aww. Thank you so much, and thank you for watching. My pleasure.
Hi! Thank you for the video! What is the name and brand of the small low-to-ground table that you use?

Awesome video! Thank you so much. Subbed
Aww. Thank you for the kind words and the sub.
You shouldn't use the multi disk as a lid when cooking but you can use it afterwards which Trangia also says in its information.
Yeah, other commenters have said that too. I didn't have any trouble with it in that regard. I'm sure there is a way to turn up the heat to a point where it causes a problem, but I have no intention of doing that.
The first thing I made with my Trangia 25 HA was Salmon and Pancakes.
I love this so much!
Kiitos , hieno video !
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
😄👍Good Stuff, Great Tips
Thank you so much.
👍🏻👍🏻
Just bought my first set...the 27. Disappointed. Too small. Returning unused to get a 25
I had wondered about the size of the 27. The 25 is a very workable and versatile size without feeling too big. I hope the 25 will be the perfect fit for you.
butter... on top of lax ?
This particular salmon is not gravlax or lox. It wasn't cured in any way. It was raw with skin on, and I cooked it in butter because it is wonderful.
Nise video
Thank you.
use palm oil instead... no burnt middle section of food fried
Sell sell sell.
the pan looks realy crap
