    I am vert happy to see videos like this. I put my deposit down last week on the 2021 GP 1800R SVHO. It is the first I have ever bought anything with a motor without actually seeing it in person. I really feel like a kid at Christmas.

    • @watercraftjournal
      @watercraftjournal  3 года назад +1

      There's a big difference. The FZR feels far more planted and a bit more "tippy" but that is because of its sportier, soft-chined hull. The GP hull feels flatter, rides much more "on top" of the water vs. the FZR and has a much "snappier" hair pin turn at WOT. You'll like it.

    Watercraft Journal, I just broke in a new 2021 GP 1800R SVHO and noticed on "cold starts" (ski has not been started for a day or two) it will idle rough for a few seconds and sometimes shuts off, requiring a second start. After idling for a few seconds it settles out, and runs smooth with no additional starting issues during a day of riding. Do you know if this is common for the 1800 series engines? Thanks.

Quick question...I didn't get the audio package but was thinking about mounting the EcoXGear® Bluetooth® speakers, integrated ¼-20 RAM mounts. On Yamaha's website it doesn't list the 2021 GP1800 has being compatible, only the EX and VX. The GP1800 comes with a multi-mount system so shouldn't it be compatible or is it different?.

    • @watercraftjournal

      Yes, you can machine your transom plate - you don't need to swap it out with an old one. (Racers have been doing it for years.) You don't need the auto trim, don't fret. The biggest issue is the weight distribution. You're just not going to replicate that easy.

    Fast skis, plenty of people well over 80 with them on flat water. FX Cruiser or Ultra will outrun it on rough water (i.e. a typical weekend with boat chop everywhere). Also prefer fiberglass hull on the Ultra

    • @watercraftjournal
      @watercraftjournal  3 года назад

      That used to be the case, yes. But Ultras have been surpassed in offshore racing by GPs and FXs 10-fold (apart from Pastorello's Mark Hahn setup). The AquaX results sheet prove this.

      @fzr1000981 3 года назад

      In flatter conditions they do ok, but just look at the two hulls. For heavy chop (2-3 ft+) little question which one is superior, and again the fiberglass hulls are more durable. The "10 fold" is more a reflection of Yamaha's ongoing support for the sport and deeper pockets, Kawasaki hasn't done much at all. Clearly you didn't pay close enough attention. The USB port and 12v socket are both optional accessories.

    I love my 18 gp1800. The new one looks a little cheap with all that plastic.

      It's not so bad. There's nearly as much plastic on yours as there is on this.

      Very likely you are correct but I do not like the black trim on the front and rear. Looks a little cheap (EX like.) On a different note, what is your professional opinion on the FX? I am highly contemplating to trading in my GP for the FX SVHO because I heard the hull is larger and better for stability (I like fishing with my waverunner.)

      The current FX hull is a personal favorite, but again, what is good for me may not be good for you.

      Actually, it's the exact opposite of the manufacturer's recommendations. We're glad you're safe and enjoying yourself but for the vast majority of folks coming here for info, we strongly advise against it.

      Full send with these bad boys. Not everyone wants to ride lakes and rivers and live a boring life. Send it as high as you can till the hull cracks lol. And don’t forget to review the 2020-2021 hulls that flake apart lol
