- Today Daughter have unveiled the first of five very special performances recorded in London's iconic Air Studios with composer Joe Duddell and a 10-piece classical ensemble.
'Shallows' is the first video to be taken from the session.
The full five-track session will be released as a digital EP on April 15th and as a limited-edition 12" on May 26th.

Daughter is amazing. Her songs starts off slow with a melancholic rhythm and builds up as the song progresses. Listening to her at night is like the equivalence of getting high: euphoric.

I heard this song off of the season finale of "The Originals" and I had to know who sang it because it was so good. Having listened to Daughter for a number of years, I will never find another song that has touched me as much as this one. It puts me in a deep emotional state every time I listen to it. So musically beautiful and lyrically sad at the same time. I hope they continue to write music like this one, I doubt I'd hear a better song written by them than this, but still their sound just makes my heart want to bleed out. Thank you Daughter for I dont know where I'd be without your music with this song that carried me thru summer '13. Please never stop writing such amazing songs that so many people have fallen in love with. I hope more people can appreciate your unparalleled musical talent.

Youth has also been used in Grey's Anatomy in one of the saddest scenes of that... For me, the best way to judge a TV show is through its music. GA, The Originals and The Vampire Diaries have all used Daughter's music, and I think it's no coincidence that they are all incredibly powerful pieces of television.

she is "bowing" the vibraphone, which is very, very rare :D if you'd like to hear more, Google "postludes for bowed vibraphone (by Elliot Cole)". it's the only composition (that I know of) which utilizes that technique.
What does that mean
It means she is literally using bows you would use on a string instrument on the vibraphone. An example is at 3:26.
Not really rare actually many musician use that technique.
