Thought I saw him waving to me in the corner of my eye but he was just moving in a dream 😁💖
I found this masterpiece in the middle of 2022 and I thank life, I think it's the most beautiful thing I've heard in a long time and it helped me encourage myself to get up from my depression, not everything is lost! It's absolutely amazing. Thank you Agnes 🙏🏻❤
I'm in 2024 and this is the most artistic piece of music I've ever listened to. Everything about this sound says time and effort makes beautiful.. There wasn't a note missed
Listen to 5:39 - there absolutely was a note missed. These things happen and it doesn't take away from a beautiful piece, but it's worth pointing out that there are very few live performances that are perfect.
I saw her perform this live last night, and she talked about how this song has a lot to do with the stories we tell ourselves, and how those stories shape us as people, as well as those around us.
I found her and her music years ago, about when I was in six grade I think. Now I'm 20 years old. But every time I listen to her, it is just like the first time. It makes me feel like my soul is somewhere else, or maybe in another space dimension. Get high naturally by her music :)
I found her music watching the Netflix series Dark (I listened to “Familiar” 30 times over the same day I first heard it on the show) and have been in love with her music ever since. So much in fact it played a big role in inspiring me to learn to play piano. I’m still a beginner and struggle playing some of her music fluently with 2 hands but, omg actually being to play it all is a sublime feeling. With enough practice I’ll get there. I haven’t started learning it yet, but I have the sheet music for this song already printed. It makes learning an instrument so rewarding.
There are some very special people that have cultivated and mastered their gifts into a higher level of performance art. Her music is a spark for the soul. Makes you want to stop and just, be here now.

Lyrics: And the people went into their hide, they oh From the start they didn't know exactly why, why Winter came and made it so all look alike, look alike Underneath the grass would grow, aiming at the sky It was swift, it was just, another wave of a miracle But no one, nothing at all would go for the kill If they called on every soul in the land, on the moon Only then would they know a blessing in disguise The curse ruled from the underground down by the shore And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before The curse ruled from the underground down by the shore And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before Tell me now of the very souls that look alike, look alike Do you know the stranglehold covering their eyes? If I call on every soul in the land, on the moon Tell me if I'll ever know a blessing in disguise The curse ruled from the underground down by the shore And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before And the curse ruled from the underground down by the shore And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before
@@Carambolero (her words) ..... Agnes Obel: I think it was a song that asked for the story. I felt like there was a story there as soon as I started writing it. The first thing that came out was “And the people…”, it just sort of came out. And I just knew that it was something that was outside of me. I was reading two books at the time and maybe that had something to do with it. One of them was a book about how we think and how we construct meaning and memory and the author has a great way of describing how we construct our own stories. We apply so much symbolic meaning to things. Humans do that all the time, it’s like the curse of being a human but also a blessing because a lot of beautiful things come out of it. We put meaning into random things. The other book was a diary and the author was standing between the old world and the new world and he was rationalising the meaning of the new world and longing for the meaning of the old world. But with the curse of modern life. So it was just what I had in my mind at the time.
Agnes' ability to evoke deep thought and raw emotion with her music is a testament to not only the power of music, but Agnes' mastery of it. This song makes me feel very many things all at once, and it hurts, but in the best way. It almost projects a crystal clear picture into my mind of a specific setting and subject. This song is almost cinematic, if not melancholy and slightly ominous.

When she and her orchestra played this live in İstanbul in 2014, I had never seen an audience look that mesmerized. The instrumental outro enchanted the entire room. Her show was an unforgettable and awe inspiring experience for every single person in the audience. I want to see Myopia live SO badly. Hope you grace İstanbul with your music again some time.
Was going to see a show in London but the pandemic hit. The live sound they have created for Myopia is truly divine (from what I have seen on her RUclips channel).

The greatest things on earth for me are souch girls voices and instruments. In my fantasy, soo sounds angels. Hope, later I will get to heaven and here such things till eternety.
This is magnificent. All in this piece is just perfect. The way they fill the space only with 3 people and all that gear. It's a very minimal instruments setting but it's so rich and profound !
Whenever i feel like i don’t want to do anything and just laze about, i can count on Agnes Obel to save me! Her music just clears my head, makes me feel lighter and just makes me want to LIVE! Fantastic artist. Truly one of a kind... her music has a soul, it delivers energy like music should.
I can relate! Everything u wrote is the exact same feeling I have listening to her music! I’m rlly happy I found her. She’s just gorgeous and has a beautiful voice.
Same. I watched episode 3 yesterday and just as I was starting to realize how special the show is the scene with Familiar happened and it completely floored me. Since then I've been too busy listening to Agnes Obel to watch any more!
Wanted to share this festival memory, because I just shared it on my personal facebook as well. For me and my friends, Agnes Obel is one of those many artists and bands you know from only one song (in this case: Riverside). So when she was scheduled to appear at Rock Werchter 2014, my friends and me thought: "Well, let's watch this for at least 5 minutes to see if she's more than just that one song. And if not, there are other shows and artists to see". So we went in the big tent. We were there at the beginning of the show, and at the end of the show my friends and I still stood there, with our jaw very close to the floor. One of the best shows of that year, and one that is etched in our memory - probably for a long time.
You know a song is good when you start to stray how incredible far can get the human instruments n voices, and thats one of them. Really sounds like heaven, these women both complement themselves, amazing harmony. Xoxo from Brazil
Starting 4:27 hits something for me. I remember riding an overnight bus from the small mountain town in Japan that I'd lived in back to Tokyo for the last time and looking out the window and as this part came on we got high enough up the mountain where you could see over the peaks and the sky was just LITTERED with stars. The universe felt close enough to touch and this song, that movement in particular always brings that image back.
The only word I can find to do this song justice is Transcendent and even then I'm stil selling it short. Absolutely beautiful work ladies please never stop.
This is absolutely, by far, so much better than the studio version. This is true talent right here. Thank you, Agnes, for putting such beautiful music out there in a world that needs it desperately ✨🌈
What a stunning ensemble. Three super talented musicians in total sync. Obel's voice is stunning and therefore it's no surprise other great musicians want to work with her.
I feel like I'm drowing everytime I listening to this song . Her voice and the longing, that ticking beat, haunting viola pieces with cello and piano. And how mesmerizing they capture these moments.
She is very cool! I've just realised she is real and I could pay to watch her perform hehe.. She is not just a entity to sooth our souls. One day eh!? ♥️ Where r u from? I'm in the UK. Finding little odd jobs to do.. trying to get up before 10 am 🤪 How r u?
Primeiro "Dark" e agora "Verdades Secretas 2" ?? Agnes Obel manda bem demais!!!
don't think the sound is live entirely, only if the plucking of the strings was sent on a loop, but they clearly started plucking an then switched.... so its either a loop or edited
Uzun zamandır dinliyorum. Sadece dinliyorum. İlk defa yorum yapmak geldi içimden. Bu şarkı adeta bi' sanat eseri. Agnes Obel diğer şarkıcıları geride bırakıyor. Şarkılarında adeta tarif edilemez bi' huzur var. Bambaşka diyarlara gidiyorum dinlerken. Sanki hiç burda değilmişim gibi.
I love the music that this woman does, she's extremely inspiring and of a magical beauty. I can't stop listening to her Aventine album. It's a musical wonder, a gentle massage for the ear and soul. A real gem.
Felicitaciones.
What an amazing atmosphere they create. I loved how the violinist looped the thrown bows and built upon it. The harmonies are fantastic and I liked the double stops after the bridge too. The song has a melancholic, dream-like presence that pulls me in; I've listened to it quite a lot today. They have a brilliant sound, I really hope to see them live one day.
Hauntingly beautiful. Whispers of melodies from long ago that never left our minds, but seemingly so powerfully poignant because they resonate on level where no words can follow.
Thank you who ever and what ever is responsible for bringing me to this masterpiece right NOW when I needed some calm and peace in my corner. Agnes Obel.... Thank you for just being you.
The artistry and God given talent, sheesh! I hope these three amazing women never stop making these exceptional masterpieces or compromise their vision ... We see and feel it too ❤
Bruce Olsen: yes, I love Dark as well but her song Familiar was used as theme song in very good detective drama called Cardinal in 2017 & 2018 which is how I discovered her. Cheers
beautiful! i rembember that i have bought aventime just because the cover spoke to me so much. never regretted it. sophisticated, laid back elegance. absolutely unique artists, and her band is amazing. they fill every space like a whole orchestra
All the comments are talking about the voice, but few are talking about this fantastic band and the talented violinist, pure perfection
Yes they are spectacular so much music from these 3 girls it's almost hard to believe
Yeah. The band is amazing.
@angel martinez i know right most see a viola and call it a violin , but how she pulls the fast bows and makes it sound like a cello, class ;-]

3 perfect players+
1 crystal clear voice+
perfect background singers
= Masterpiece
Needs nothing more to say. I´m a man. The greatest things on earth for me are souch girls voices and instruments.
In my fantasy, soo sounds angels. Hope, later I will get to heaven and here such things till eternety.
This is magnificent.
All in this piece is just perfect. The way they fill the space only with 3 people and all that gear. It's a very minimal instruments setting but it's so rich and profound !
agreed!
Such a refreshing vibe...
Musical menage a trois!
9oo9I o9
I can relate! Everything u wrote is the exact same feeling I have listening to her music! I’m rlly happy I found her. She’s just gorgeous and has a beautiful voice.
DARK introduce me to her music, she is fantastic
Same. I watched episode 3 yesterday and just as I was starting to realize how special the show is the scene with Familiar happened and it completely floored me. Since then I've been too busy listening to Agnes Obel to watch any more!
🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️
Adam Bainbridge you’re gonna love it!!
@@vini6699 Thank you. I finished season 3 this morning. Wow!
Adam Bainbridge 🙋🏻♀️The same here ..!
I closed my eyes and drifted to a place where time doesn't exist while listening to this song. This song is so subtle!
When sound transcends time and I am lost and comfortable; that is where I want to be. Thank you.
This is perfect and absolutely beautiful
the voice
the band
the song
No flaws
10 years and still an amazing track.
This is therapy !
You know a song is good when you start to stray how incredible far can get the human instruments n voices, and thats one of them. Really sounds like heaven, these women both complement themselves, amazing harmony. Xoxo from Brazil
Aaaah só os brazuca.
❤
Starting 4:27 hits something for me. I remember riding an overnight bus from the small mountain town in Japan that I'd lived in back to Tokyo for the last time and looking out the window and as this part came on we got high enough up the mountain where you could see over the peaks and the sky was just LITTERED with stars. The universe felt close enough to touch and this song, that movement in particular always brings that image back.
Perfect image for this piece! Wow!
There is so much beauty in this world. So much to enjoy. But we sometimes forget about it😢
The only word I can find to do this song justice is Transcendent and even then I'm stil selling it short. Absolutely beautiful work ladies please never stop.
Philosopher, musician, poet. Many thanks.
This is absolutely, by far, so much better than the studio version. This is true talent right here. Thank you, Agnes, for putting such beautiful music out there in a world that needs it desperately ✨🌈
The songs performed in this live session sound better than the album versions. Incredible talent.
I was just thinking this sounds better than the album.
Yes I saved this version in Spotify over the album one. The ending is just amazing....
This is one of the songs which is protecting my mental health during quarantine
🏸😗👨👦😱😱👽
She is very cool! I've just realised she is real and I could pay to watch her perform hehe.. She is not just a entity to sooth our souls. One day eh!? ♥️ Where r u from? I'm in the UK. Finding little odd jobs to do.. trying to get up before 10 am 🤪 How r u?
check out Pomme
Hell yes
Comforts the soul
Primeiro "Dark" e agora "Verdades Secretas 2" ?? Agnes Obel manda bem demais!!!
e agora, the last of us
such an incredible band, vocals, piano violin such a aharmonious collaboration
I can't get over the fact that this is live. Even video evidence isn't enough proof. AMAZING
perhaps the sound of the pedal switching on at 0:39 will do.
a few mistakes in there, but they just reminded me that it was indeed live. and reminded me just how amazing it is.
Well now that you have said it is live then in fact it really must be live, without you many of us would be at a loss as to if this was "Live" or not.
ich bin ein berliner...has amazing listeners too.
don't think the sound is live entirely, only if the plucking of the strings was sent on a loop, but they clearly started plucking an then switched.... so its either a loop or edited
all of them beautifully singing and playing classical instruments? mind blown
I can feel the vibrations of my soul, (I feel alive, leaving the burden of living behind) when listening to Agnes Obel...
Uzun zamandır dinliyorum. Sadece dinliyorum. İlk defa yorum yapmak geldi içimden. Bu şarkı adeta bi' sanat eseri. Agnes Obel diğer şarkıcıları geride bırakıyor. Şarkılarında adeta tarif edilemez bi' huzur var. Bambaşka diyarlara gidiyorum dinlerken. Sanki hiç burda değilmişim gibi.
sounds like a dream
Sounds like ice cream.
You aggrandized little bit.
Sounds like a fairytale
Looks like a fantasy
Sounds like a tale to me those can not even be described by man
I love the music that this woman does, she's extremely inspiring and of a magical beauty. I can't stop listening to her Aventine album.
It's a musical wonder, a gentle massage for the ear and soul. A real gem.
Miaou
What an amazing atmosphere they create. I loved how the violinist looped the thrown bows and built upon it. The harmonies are fantastic and I liked the double stops after the bridge too. The song has a melancholic, dream-like presence that pulls me in; I've listened to it quite a lot today. They have a brilliant sound, I really hope to see them live one day.
The violin and the bass are both fantastic. They have such a "fat" sound for a 3 piece.
John Waters hey, just want to let you know it's a viola and a cello. But no offence! Just for the future ;)
Well there was no way I was going to know that :)
I cant help but notice metal riffs on the contrabass..
Its awesome
John Waters lol ,instruments and performers info just below the video, also a violin is way more small
This song will never cease to be epic.
Hauntingly beautiful. Whispers of melodies from long ago that never left our minds, but seemingly so powerfully poignant because they resonate on level where no words can follow.
Calm Dust beautifully put.
Thank you who ever and what ever is responsible for bringing me to this masterpiece right NOW when I needed some calm and peace in my corner. Agnes Obel.... Thank you for just being you.
This music strikes a profound emotional cord in me, I don't know why but it brings me to tears.
Stunningly beautiful.
The artistry and God given talent, sheesh! I hope these three amazing women never stop making these exceptional masterpieces or compromise their vision ... We see and feel it too ❤
Wow! Everything.. notes, vocals, accompaniment, in just their right time. I could say perfect!
This is food for the soul.
This Lady pulled a part of me out that i did not know existed. Pace, voice, words, such talent.
This.
Some of the best music I've heard in at least 20 years.
Oh Agnes, you deserve the 44 million views so much! I'm so happy people recognize your outstanding talent.
Thats by far one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard ❤️
Written by Camille Saint Saens? Lol
Absolutely perfect. Each performer is an artist, but together? I would love to hear more!
This woman is absolutely amazing! I love all of her music!! Beautiful!!!
Cheers
Kristi McGowan/ Darko’s Cellar Door I discovered her watching "dark" where one of her songs was used
Bruce Olsen: yes, I love Dark as well but her song Familiar was used as theme song in very good detective drama called Cardinal in 2017 & 2018 which is how I discovered her.
Cheers
Such a mysterious melody. And the lilt in the vocals.
This song is going to be stuck in my head for days, and I'm not complaining.
L'univers d'Agnès me transporte littéralement... J'ai un petit penchant pour Familiar
Everything about this performance is totally perfect.. I've never felt like this about a performance. The voice, The Violin especially. Loved it
beautiful! i rembember that i have bought aventime just because the cover spoke to me so much. never regretted it. sophisticated, laid back elegance. absolutely unique artists, and her band is amazing. they fill every space like a whole orchestra
2023, that sweet dull pain of memories I’ve become accustomed too. This song revives and heals them all ❤
The three of you together and you're pure GOLD . Love this song so much that it soothes my soul every single time.
Man...I listen to old school rap and metal..this melted my soul..
We've all been a little vulnerable lately. This too melted my soul a little while ago: ruclips.net/video/wEj7xYyj9n4/видео.html
So,there is hope for you ;-)
where is still hope for you
FEEL U BRO
I think this time is exactly about our souls coming back into our body awareness. We are going back to being humanKind
I always come back to this track. So beautiful!
I do too, I Cannot Help Myself.!!!
This video soothes my Mind.!!!
she's the most amazing talent i've ever heard. what i wouldn't give just to meet and hug this remarkable woman.
Perfection - the singing and the musicianship.
Just found this song in RUclips's offers. Love how the cello answers the violin 😍
I can’t put into words how much I enjoyed this. Thank you to everyone involved
Agnes, Anne and Mika are all very talented women at the very top of their musical careers. 100% Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
Brava!
