Thank you, pastor Doug for being fearless in preaching about this subject. I wish more pastors did. I knew a lady who wore jewelry and makeup when she attended church and the reason she did was that she was 'dressing up for the Lord'. I see a lot of women in church wearing jewelry and makeup which includes eyeshadow, mascara, and lipstick. Even in SDA's King's Herald musical group that travels around to different churches to perform on special occasions, the women are lathered in makeup and covered with jewelry and diamond rings. You are right Pastor Doug, the standards and teachings of our churches have been reduced to meet the world's standards. There is hardly any more purity or modesty in our SDA churches.

I Agree. They aren't DRESSING UP FOR THE LORD!! THEY'RE TRYING TO MAKE THEMSELVES STAND OUT AGAINST THE LORD. LIKE THE ISRAELITES DID WHEN MOSES WAS ON MOUNT SINAI. THEY THINK THEY'VE COME TO A PARTY INSTEAD OF STANDING IN FRONT OF THE LORD. HE KNOWS THEIR HEART'S! NEED I SAY MORE....💔😢

The late pastor HMS Richards was attributed with saying, if the barn needs painting...in reference to women wearing makeup. I wear foundation and a bit of concealer because i have unflattering skin with some breakouts and feel like it's more distracting if i don't cover it up. I'm not likely to lead anyone down the wrong road by doing so. I'm definitely appalled by what has crept into our churches, such as tattoos that the wearer says are ok because it's a Bible verse or a cross. There's definitely biblical input on that one. What does Mrs. White have to say on the subject? I think she's more about health and practicality. Modesty/immodesty is fairly subjective, but you kind of know it when you see it, right?

NO jewelry?... No wedding ring? No class ring? No Christian jewelry? I love the cross my mother gave to me, I never take it off. For my best friend and sister in Christ, I give a beautiful cross on her birthday and Christmas. One was made in ethiopia, another has red agate (for Christmas holidays) etc. Each is bold and beautiful. (she is a large older woman who wears mostly black) her cross is literally her statement piece. People always compliment her on how beautiful her crosses are and that opens the conversation for witnessing. There is beautiful Christian jewelry that points to our faith (like my friends bracelet with the Christian fish). God made artists / artisans who create beautiful jewelry for us. That biblical reference was their haughtiness and jingling to the point of distraction. When Paul admonishes the women to cover their heads in church, they're plaited hair had so many jewels / baubles that the light bounced off their heads like a disco ball. Also some their super flashy jewels is what they would wear in the pagan temples prior to their conversion. They were trying to show off their wealth and status so they too were being haughty. Big difference from wearing jewelry that elegantly compliments one's atire. I personally don't wear jewelry because I can't be bothered. However I have seen women in church and they might have a statement piece and it's a great conversation starter. One can be stylish, elegant AND modest and appropriate for the occasion / weather. Personally if I visited a church and all the women look like whistler's mother I'd think it was some cult and leave. I think if you're trying to sport super expensive jewelry (for men a Rolex) that could be showy and prideful. But a teen wearing a shark tooth necklace to remind him of his surfboarding adventure seems perfectly okay to me. Just saying...

      Why Be a Stumbling Block?
One reason I do not drink any alcohol is because one person in seven who imbibes will eventually become an alcoholic. Even though I might be able to drink moderately, I do not want my bad example to cause another person's downfall-especially for something so unnecessary as intoxicating beverages.
The same principle holds true for jewelry. We have all seen people who cover themselves with gold and precious jewels-gem-aholics, if you will. Most people who wear lots of jewelry do not sense their personal worth. They hope to feel more valuable by covering themselves with expensive articles. Others believe they are unattractive and hope to increase their perceived beauty by adorning themselves with beautiful gems. They can't control themselves. They think that if one is good, then 10 would be better. (Just for the record, I have never heard a man say: "Isn't she beautiful? Just look at her jewelry!") I'm sure everyone would agree that there is a point when enough is enough!
Well, here is the big question. What is that point? If it's okay for women to wear earrings, then who is to say it's wrong for men? If one ring or earring is acceptable, then why not three or four? If the laymen can wear jewelry, why not the clergy? If a ring in the ear is all right, then what's wrong with a bone in the nose?
Perhaps you have noticed the modern craze of body piercing. Four earrings in one ear and rings in the nose with a chain between them. People are now piercing their flesh and wearing rings in their eyebrows, navels, tongues, and other places I'd rather not mention. Why would a Christian want to be a stumbling block for someone else and encourage this trend by wearing any jewelry? (I used to sport multiple facial and ear piercings of my own and wore my fair share of jewelry. Today, to not be a stumbling block for my brother, I wear none.) It's all unnecessary. Especially for people who are preparing to meet Jesus.
Speaking of people living in the time of the end, the prophet Ezekiel warns, "They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity." Ezekiel 7:19.
If I were to wear any jewelry, I would instantly open the floodgates of inconsistency by my example and cause many to stumble. If I really love my brother, why would I insist on taking that risk for something so frivolous and unnecessary as jewelry?
Whenever you are unsure about which course to take on a spiritual issue, take the safe position. I know that on the judgment day, God will not condemn anyone for not wearing enough jewelry. So the safe thing is to not wear any.

@@PresentTruth777 I will definitely check out the link, thank you!. I will say this, 1. this sounds so much like Pharisee legalism. 2. When the camera pans the audience there were several young people sitting there who looked absolutely miserable. Very strict legalistic churches are the ones where the young people reject God and the scriptures when they move out as adults. 3. My cross is my identification mark. I am saying "I am His and He is mine!". When I asked a Muslim woman why she wore a hijab even though it made her stand out in our Western society (the premise behind hijab is that she fits in and not stands out) she said "because it signifies to everyone that I am Muslim" I will therefore signify to all "I am Christian!" 4. What a terrible witness I am to the world when I demonstrate that I must wear muted colors, zero jewelry, while someone else might wear a beautiful floral print blouse celebrating spring (God's creation). Then I invite them to church and they ask about the somber clothing and no jewelry and I respond Christians SHOULDN'T...?What does that have to do with SALVATION?? 5. Roman soldiers had cleats in their shoes, does that mean your son in soccer is not allowed to have cleats? Nero used Christians as human torches. Does that mean we're not allowed to have torches for outdoor functions? If someone uses fire for arson does that mean I can't use fire for cooking? Fornication and adultery is rightly forbidden. Does that mean sex is a terrible thing between a MARRIED couple? Songs these days have sinful lyrics. Does this mean we should eliminate music and not sing praises to the Lord? It's not the fire, it's not the sex, it's not the music, it's how these things are gifts are ABUSED. 4. The Levite priests were greatly ADORNED! You said the Angels must think "why are people adorning themselves with pavement?" The ark of the covenant was covered with gold by GOD'S INSTRUCTIONS! This clearly illustrates that God LOVES beauty, art, artisans / craftsman. I could go on but I think you get my point...

@@PresentTruth777 This is incredibly legalistic. A pair of earrings or a bracelet or a necklace is not the gateway to haughtiness or extreme "Mr.T" like jewelry consumption. Teach modesty with jewelry. One doesn't need to be gaudy or flashy like rappers and entertainers. A lady doesn't need 6 earrings in one ear or form fitting, super short clothing attire that is a lure for men. Men don't need to wear women's clothing or makeup. I do agree that some people wear jewelry to compensate for something greater, but it does not make sense to ban all jewelry. Remember the significance of the signet ring, a piece of very important jewelry.

Adam and Eve were naked and unashamed, because, having not sinned, they had nothing to be ashamed of, therefore they were righteously unashamed. The cultural trend, however, is to affirm sin and identify with it, and then as a matter of PRIDE to be naked and unashamed, not by repenting of sin but by affirming sin as something righteous not to be repented of, therefore the culture is towards being naked yet unashamed sinners

Every ministry including yours must get your priorities right.
Christ’s ministry in the first century was no exception in the midst of a "time prophecy" in Daniel 9.
Therefore Jesus' entire focus was on the "family of Judah" and not gentiles on God's promise of "blessing of the grace" to Judah for the "Scepter" or "Rulership" with their Messiah as future kings as for Genesis 49:10 during this age under 'god' of this age.
When Jesus sent His disciples to preach the good news of the coming kingdom which happened to be the "principal message" that God sent Jesus to proclaim during this age of 6 millennia under human self rule in place of God's rule, Jesus expressly told them, “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans.
But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel” (Matthew 10:5-6).
Jesus narrowed their focus to the areas which should be most receptive-those who knew the Law and were expecting their Messiah.
Even Paul, in his missionary journeys even after Judah lost his exclusive right for the "Scepter" followed the same priority of preaching to the Jews first (Romans 1:16) because God's promise to Judah was irrevocable.
God's word remains eternal through all the ages, the present age, the Millennium and after the Millennium for eternity.
Jesus’ words to the Canaanite woman also show an awareness of family of Israel’s place in God’s plan of salvation in its entirety, yet narrowed down to the first-fruits only during this age under Satan the Devil until he is taken out at the second coming of Christ.
God revealed through Moses that the children of Israel were “a holy people to the LORD . . . chosen . . . a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth” (Deuteronomy 7:6).
It was through the Israelite nation that God issued His Law, preserved His Word, and sent His Son. This is why, elsewhere, Jesus tells a Samaritan woman that “salvation is of the Jews”(John 4:22) because God's promise is to the Jews for the "rulership" during this age until God test them in the "Time Prophecy" in Daniel 9.
    God did allow the family of Judah(Jews) ample time when He said;
“Seven times seventy years is the length of time God has set for freeing your people(Jews) and your holy city(Jerusalem) from sin and evil.
Sin will be forgiven and eternal justice established, so that the vision and the prophecy will come true, and the holy Temple(altar)will be rededicated"(Daniel 9:24)
(Unfortunately, Judah(Jews) failed in this test to live up to God's expectations and lost their exclusive right for the "Scepter" and paved the way for the other tribes, tongues, race and nation to share their rulership blessing).
This is something became a stumbling block for the ministry of apostle Paul because Jews refused to believe that they lost their right to the rulership with Messiah when Paul brought the good news to the gentiles.
Jews simply did not understand the scriptures without God pouring His Spirit to every Jew except whom God called and chosen.
Only those who received God's mercy and grace accepted their Messiah including a remnant of non-Jews.
One of the reasons that only a remnant received God's Spirit and grace was yet to be revealed in the future by apostle John in the book Revelation as 144000 first harvest in Rev 7:1-8 and Rev 14:1-5.
In Matthew 15, when the Jewish Messiah says that He was sent to “the house of Israel,” He is simply connecting His presence with God’s purpose in Old Testament history and promises.
Christ was “born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law” (Galatians 4:4-5).
Paul explains in detail in Romans 11, God's preference was still Jews to repent and come back to their Messiah as God and Christ planned that way from the beginning!
Therefore it is always need to be kept in mind what God and Christ's priorities are for this age as no one can reverse what God had promised to the family of Judah under the Law and prophets.
Reason why Jesus warned that if anyone is desiring of entering the kingdom in heaven for God to consider them in the "second Resurrection" as "Levite", their teaching should not be contrary to the "Law and Prophets" in Matthew 5:17-20: "Teaching about the Law"
17 “Do not think that I have come to do away with the Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets.
I have not come to do away with them, but to make their teachings come true.
18 Remember that as long as heaven and earth last, not the least point nor the smallest detail of the Law will be done away with-not until all its teachings come true.
19 So then, whoever disobeys even the least important of the commandments and teaches others to do the same, will be least in the Kingdom of heaven.
On the other hand, whoever obeys the Law and teaches others to do the same, will be great in the Kingdom of heaven.
20 I tell you, then, that you will be able to enter the Kingdom of heaven only if you are more faithful than the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees in doing what God requires"
This is a harsh warning from the LORD to the self appointed religious leaders of World Christianity of "Mystery Babylon the Great and the Mother of Harlot Daughters" of Roman Catholicism, Protestant daughters of Her that includes Adventism and followed by Seventh-Day Adventism who despise God's Holy Days in the "Law and Prophets".
The reason for this warning was that Jesus knew as the greatest prophet ever to walk on this planet of all time that false Christianity that were to emerge at the removal of first seal from Rev 5:1 scroll by Him, and let loose the "white horse" ridden by Anti-Christ will preach contrary to the law and prophets without God granting them His mercy and Spirit.
Today false Christianity is causing mayhem with false preaching pretending them as God's true servants, yet not knowing God will drag all of them who will be alive in the last days through the "great tribulation" that will come upon the whole world!
