Any differences between the d and l form of glutamine are not due to differerences between the d and l form of gritainnes in the MS. These enantiomers fragment in exactly the same way.

McLafferty rearrange is the retroene reaction. Look at the mechanism and sort out for yourself why this should be the low-energy sigmatropic process.
