      they refer to the same thing. It can be high pressure liquid chrom as well depending on your reference

      Both terms can be used. High pressure - comes from the pressure of the mobile phase passing through the colomn and performance relates to the high sensitivity and selectivity of the molecule of interest being separated by the hplc module.
