The oil is to catch any fine particles that would pass through the filter because the filter is more porous than the oem one to allow more air flow. The filter without the oil would basically let any and all dust through and into your engine. Normal maintenance is to pull it off, clean, and oil it again every couple of months. its very similar to motocross bike filters. I think my K&N filter said to do it every 6 months or so if you live in a dusty area
The Perrin intake mimics the OEM intake tubing diameter, so it's stock tune safe. You gain about 10hp with a stock tune, but 50+ with a tune. It's a big difference, but I did it for the throttle response and that beautiful blow-off (pshhh) magic. Our VBs are fast enough lol
That filter is waaaaaaaaaay over oiled. Get some paper towels and wrap it up while you're installing the rest of the intake. The paper towels should absorb most of the oil.

Do you need a tune for it bro ?? Is it safe to run ?? I have a 2022 wrx as well and I’m looking into getting that Perrin intake !!
