The TLDR is it obviously works but is definitely not fool proof. It's a suitable form of birth control only if you and your partner don't necessarily want to get pregnant at the time but wouldn't mind if it did happen. It's not for one night stands, the beginning of relationships, friends with benefits arrangements, or any other situation but if you are with a partner you wouldn't mind having a kid with.

Short answer is yes, the pullout method works. Long answer is when used correctly, it works. When not used correctly, no it doesn't work. It's like blaming a condom for a pregnancy because you left it on the nightstand instead of wearing it. If you use the pullout method and it doesn't work, it's because you didn't pullout, not because the method doesn't work.
Well, my personal experience: We did it one year between our first and our second child - and it worked well. Some details: My wife had a ectopic pregnancy after the first child and nearly died. So afterwards she was so traumatized, that she refused to take the pill. Nevertheless we wanted to wait another year before the next pregnancy. And we wanted sex. As I was in with taoistic orgasm control, I practiced pulling out. And I normally don't have precum at all. So we tried. Within the year she didn't get pregnant. After the year, when we decided, it's time for the next baby, we needed two months, then second daughter was on the way. Don't get me wrong, in our situation, the risk was low - I would not recommend the techinc to teenager or unexperienced couples in the first months of their partnership. But for us, it worked. :-)

As a senior I almost always used pull out and it worked, no pregnancies. If you practice oral there is no need to pull out.

I just don't get all the comments that saying "My pull-out worked well!" Yes it can work pretty well. But -

Short answer is yes, the pullout method works. Long answer is when used correctly, it works. When not used correctly, no it doesn't work. It's like blaming a condom for a pregnancy because you left it on the nightstand instead of wearing it. If you use the pullout method and it doesn't work, it's because you didn't pullout, not because the method doesn't work.

Well, my personal experience: We did it one year between our first and our second child - and it worked well. Some details: My wife had a ectopic pregnancy after the first child and nearly died. So afterwards she was so traumatized, that she refused to take the pill. Nevertheless we wanted to wait another year before the next pregnancy. And we wanted sex. As I was in with taoistic orgasm control, I practiced pulling out. And I normally don't have precum at all. So we tried. Within the year she didn't get pregnant. After the year, when we decided, it's time for the next baby, we needed two months, then second daughter was on the way.
