I did my alternator, nearly same model, using your video. My slip rings were like new, so just new brushes for me. It was very clear how you explained it and it made the job easy for me and saved me $300. I had spent money on a crap chinese one in the past, but now I will do my own in future. Thankyou so much for taking the time. You should be paid!
The old pin to hold the brushes away trick! Never seen that before, I was really puzzled how to reassemble the damn thing and this helped A LOT! Thank You !
Thank you very much for helping the community: it was easy to fix my son's alternator (Ford Fiesta 2004) after watching your video. Your explanation was very clear, with many very useful details. Phil, from France
Great vid WestronicsIrl, I especially liked the accuracy step by step! The only hard part for me is removing and replacing it from my car, front wheel drive with tight access from below the only way to get at it, my problem, but I'll get over it.......... one day! Thanks for the vid!
This was a great video. Really clearly explained and shown. Thanks for taking the time to past this up. Would buy some brushes from you if I was on your side of the world
Great video, dude! My 95 DSM's alternator has been soaked in PS fluid for quite some time, and I don't think it has been through any kind of maintenance ever, also, I'm getting a bad squeal from it's belt, and experiencing some major drops in the voltage as well, so I'm looking forward to pull it out of the car for a well deserved cleaning job plus changing it's brushes. Your video was very helpfull, now I feel I can do it, thank you!
LOved your video. Haven't done one of these since I was a kid, but just replaced my sons alternator with a new one and thought I'd rebuild the old one just for the fun of it. Thanks ......
I'd like to watch this video before to break a little plastic when I tried enter the shaft. I'll do again, this time thanks to your knowledge. Excellent.
Great Video. The trick for holding the brushes in was very useful. Since I did not change the brushes I had to push the brushes in further with a dental tool..., Thanks.
one of the best video how to repair alternator i've ever seeing!!! it would be better if bearing replacement has been shown - on of the most common problems =)
Looks like the same alternator on my mazda which i just took off and put my spare one on for now. I was going to take it to a shop to get it repaired, but after watching this vid i think i will take it apart myself and check the brushes. If they are the cause, i will be ordering some. Big thanks for this.
Very good video, but I think we should use the super fine sandpaper to sand around the surface of copper contact before put it back with the new brush holder.
Hello Ron, I am humbled by you r offer but I think we are all right for solder irons atm. We always have few new ones in the workshop at any given time. Thank you.
Hello mate, glad you like the video. Sadly we dont do anything with distributors,it is a dead trade nowadays. My grandfather used to do it,i will ask him to see can i get some legit ifno off him :D.
Hello,Glad that you like the video. All mitsubishi alternators manufactured after 1994 have these brushes in them. Older ones had them too,but not all of them.
Thanks for the vid bro....my first alternator build was a success due mostly due to your excellent video....thanks....mine was a bad solder on the regulator....two times in and out tested good on the bench as it was intermitent ...what a head banger one replacement alternator was a no show so decided to crack the otiginal honda alternator open and voila ...there it was....FUCKKKKKK...what a war ...but I won ...thanks again bro
You have to be very careful handling the stator, it's very easy to nick and chip off the insulation on the windings. Also, it's very easy to crack the insulation on the wires which connect to the rectifier when moving the stator out of the way to get at that last screw. I managed to do both.
Haha, Totally! Dude, great video, well explained, BUT, for next time you should use Acetylene / Oxygen blowtorch for that brush replacement job :))))))
Excellent video, easy to follow and well presented. One question please. I have the same alternator on a 96 Pajero that suddenly started to 'rattle' under load then it packed in altogether. I replaced it with a spare and all was OK for about five minutes then that started to rattle under load .. It's NOT the bearings. It seems to be over charging. Activator feed is 12.5v, the other feed is only 11.5v the output is constant at 14.5v so it seems to be running at full output non stop. Steve
Great video ,well presented, I have flickering lights at idle , brushes have done 90000 miles, flickering goes when revs increase, im getting app 14.5 v charging
Check brush length at 200,000km. The horizontal line on the brush, below the hole, is the wear limit, ie., when they need replacing. See 10:32. However, not all brushes have the limit shown like that.Basically, if you don't have more than 8mm/5/16'' protruding, then it's time to change, or you will wear out the slip ring, because the copper wire inside the brush will rub on it. You can see it on the left hand brush at 7:38. ( He actually broke that one when he pulled the unit apart. )
I have satoh tractor s373d beaver III with mitsubishi ar2115z2 alternator and need diode assy and cannot find replacement parts or replacement alternator, where can I get parts for my alternator, great clear video thanx!
gday mate. I am doing an A55000 Mitsubishi alternator off a Kubota. I am up to aligning the slip rings with the brushes, the setup is almost identical to the alternator in your video. The alternator has allowance for your method except the brushes themselves, they do not have holes in them, even though they are the genuine part. I am thinking of just carefully drilling a hole myself?
I removed an alternator, the nut to the the hot wire was so tight from the last mechanic that it broke the bolt that connects to the stator attachment, can this be repaired? also this is the same design on my 2002 Honda civic, thanks for the video, I searched and couldn't find a decent video, yours explained it very well. Luckily the one that broke is a core, but id like to rebuild it for future problems.
That wire trick to hold the brushes saved my weekend motorcycle ride. Thank you for this great video! 👍
Thank you Sir, you just saved me over $500 Dollars.
I did my alternator, nearly same model, using your video. My slip rings were like new, so just new brushes for me. watched the video, bought the brushes, fixed the alternator. Brilliant one stop shop. Thank you.
Thank you so much. Because of this video I was able to fix my alternator for $5 and a couple hours. Definitely worth it.
awesome, just putting my alternator back together after painting and have been serching how to hold the bushes in, no one showed this, thanks
The old pin to hold the brushes away trick!

Thanks bro you helped me service my altinator I just got done. It's a same Mitsubishi style altinator but Nissan vehicle. Changed the brushes

Great video. Clear explanation. Just what I needed for my 2004 GTO Mitsubishi alternator service.

Very good and easy to understand video saved me around £100 on haveing to buy a recone unit for my Mitsubishi pajero
I'd like to watch this video before to break a little plastic when I tried enter the shaft. I'll do again, this time thanks to your knowledge. Excellent.

A thousand thanks! very good video showing how to replace coal in a Mitsubishi generator. Now I'll try it myself on my Peugeot 605
Very good Video. Nice to see it done in the real world. Brush Kit Fit listing has been removed..!
one of the best video how to repair alternator i've ever seeing!!! it would be better if bearing replacement has been shown - on of the most common problems =)

Some really good tips. Could do with a smaller soldering iron.
this is exactly what I was looking for, thanks for posting!
Very good video, but I think we should use the super fine sandpaper to sand around the surface of copper contact before put it back with the new brush holder.
Thanks for this and other alternator vids also. Got mine repaired with new bearings and brushes.
Thanks brother 😉👊🏻 (Can add Subaru to the description 👍🏻)
Hello Ron,
I am humbled by you r offer but I think we are all right for solder irons atm.
We always have few new ones in the workshop at any given time.
Thank you.
Hello mate, glad you like the video.
Sadly we dont do anything with distributors,it is a dead trade nowadays.
My grandfather used to do it,i will ask him to see can i get some legit ifno off him :D.
Very nicely done, thanks. One thing though, you need a smaller soldering iron... really.
Excellent videos from this channel. Very grateful
Pretty thorough alternator rebuild video.
You could use a bigger solder iron, the one you used is a thad SMALL!! lol
Thanks for taking time to show us the basics. Where would I go to buy the brushes?
Would it be ok if I used a smaller soldering iron
No go bigger on the iron I advise. /joke
JUST JOKING ABOUT THE IRON
excellent video, I'm from mexico. and alternator of the eclipse is exactly like my civic 97 thanks brother were a big help
Hello,Glad that you like the video.
All mitsubishi alternators manufactured after 1994 have these brushes in them.
Older ones had them too,but not all of them.
Worst alternators
best of the best tutorial ever on alternator, thanks
Thanks for the vid bro....my first alternator build was a success due mostly due to your excellent video....thanks....mine was a bad solder on the regulator....two times in and out tested good on the bench as it was intermitent ...what a head banger one replacement alternator was a no show so decided to crack the otiginal honda alternator open and voila ...there it was....FUCKKKKKK...what a war ...but I won ...thanks again bro
Gracias Mark. Excelente video. Desde Latinoamérica te mandamos un cordial saludo.
Excellent video, a very clear procedure step by step, thank you very much.
What you didnt say about the broken brush was that it broke when you parted the alternator because it jammed into the worn slip ring
great !!! exactly my model . I will disconnect it and check which parts I need.
Unluckly, the ALTERNATOR SLIP RING totally gone.
thanks mate! the video was very useful! cheers from France!
Thank you so much. Now I just have to figure out how to remove the alternator.
Saved me! Just 5 bucks instead of $200 for a refurbished alternator!
You have to be very careful handling the stator, it's very easy to nick and chip off the insulation on the windings. Also, it's very easy to crack the insulation on the wires which connect to the rectifier when moving the stator out of the way to get at that last screw. I managed to do both.
Will keep this in mind when I try cracking open this generator tomorrow. Thnx.
That hole in the back detail - for the brushes hold down - is the key!
Haha, Totally! Dude, great video, well explained, BUT, for next time you should use Acetylene / Oxygen blowtorch for that brush replacement job :))))))
well presented best I have seen no crap simple explaintion
you are a very good electromechanic. Youve got professor skills. Consider working at an university

After working 8yrs I still hate fixing Mitsubishi alternators. Glad to know I'm not the only guy that has to work on them. Lol
Very good video- cheers. But I think you might need a larger soldering iron...
Great video ,well presented, I have flickering lights at idle , brushes have done 90000 miles, flickering goes when revs increase, im getting app 14.5 v charging

Thanks for the videos you make .

Hi
What kind of solder ie needed? Any special requirements?
Or, solder used for electronics will do?
I removed an alternator, the nut to the the hot wire was so tight from the last mechanic that it broke the bolt that connects to the stator attachment, can this be repaired? also this is the same design on my 2002 Honda civic, thanks for the video, I searched and couldn't find a decent video, yours explained it very well. What is the vacuum pump for? Does it help cool the alternator? Is it powered by the alternator?
Awesome video man thank you!
great video. I have a alternator from a 99 outback that looks the same. I have not been able to find brushes for it. Do u have any??
Thanks
Excellent how to. Thumbs up!!!
