BBC - Who are the greatest guitarists of all time?
Alan Holdsworth, Al Dimeola, Jeff Beck
1) Hendrix. 2) Steve Howe of Yes 3) Page. (Honorable mentions for Clapton, Trower, Blackmore, Leslie West, Rory Gallagher & David Gilmore )
Terry Kath has to be my all time favorite guitarist. I love the three super pickers but Terry is beyond GREAT!
Couldn't agree more!
@@larryrhindress2972 Tim Reynolds’s makes a guitar sing as well
Andres Segovia, Django Reinhardt, Chet Atkins, Joe Pass, Eric Johnson... list goes on and on.
Chet Atkins was fantastic, old school.
Good point, too many people forget to mention Andres Segovia!
Paco de Lucía. nº 1
JEFF BECK. I am not going to list all my reasons… either you agree that he should be one of the top three or you don’t. Personally, my pick for the top three would be: JEFF BECK, JIMI HENDRIX, and EDDIE VAN HALEN.
I agree that Jeff and Eddie are definitely at the top of the best. But that was how the vote ended.
I reserve my judgment on this idea on who is the best guitar player? Ever.
These guys are great, I would say don't forget Duane Allman, Zappa, and Santana.
your right.
smartest choices yet !
Zappa? Crappa.
@@SeptemberChild1835 that statement makes you a moron ! stick with mark farner and randy bachman if frank's too rich for you.
Nigel Tufnel. Nobody else matters.
@@bld9696 oh man! LOL!
...These go to Eleven! 😂
For sheer technical skills and overall understanding of the guitar, nobody surpasses Tommy Emanuel, he makes the guitar talk.
Who?
Chuck Berry..Jimi Hendrix....Eddy Van Halen...each brought Rock guitar to a new level of mastery...one old guitar players opinion
RORY THE BEST EVER AND FOREVER
Jeff Beck, Richie Blackmore, John Mc Laughlin, Pat Metheny, Eric Johnson, Alvin Lee, Leslie West, AL Di Meola, Robin Trower, Jimmy Page
More than an honourable mention to Gary Moore and Steve Vai
Gary Moore's use of sustain in his songs is legendary!
Hendrix, Gimour, Van Halen. Honorable mentions: Paul Guilbert, Reb Beach.
Guess Segovia was not considered?
All 3 are great but everybody has a preference. David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana and Steve Vai.
Missed the best, the amazing Rory Gallagher
a lot of people felt that way.
Roy Clark Glen Campbell, Jerry Reed, Chet Atkins.
Chet Atkins
YES, YES, YES AND YES!!!! These four players are astonishing!! 😃👍👍🎸
Those were my three guesses in that exact order. I really don't have a top three but those three usually are the top three and in that order.
Alex Lifeson
Neal Schon, Ronnie Montrose, Roy Clark. No one else comes close.
1- David Gilmour
2 -others
Stevie Ray Vaughan hands down
Hendrix, Page, SRV (not necessarily in this order)
SRV forever!
#1 Jimi Hendrix #2 Terry Kath #3 Duane Allman.
It's ridiculous that there's no mention of an artist everyone tried to imitate for years, the late great Eddie VanHalen.
Jimi Hendrix
Peter Green
Duane Allman
Eddie Van Halen once said, "I'd give anything to have one guitar lesson with Glenn Campbell". That says a lot about Campbell.
Rory Gallagher, Mick Ronson, Leslie West. And Randy Rhoads
This was my grandfather’s list.
Albert King, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen
Jimi Hendrix Purple Haze!,!!!!!
1. DAVID GILMOUR
Alex Lifeson, Orianthi, and Brian May
Rory would have blown everyone of them away
Duane Allman
CLAPTON ?????????
Clapton and Page??????????
I love them both.
HENDRIX PAGE AND VAUGHN ENOUGH SAID
Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Trey Anastasio. 3 best alive today.
the numbers were the best, not the one that is alive. That would be a totally different list.
This debatable title should say rock guitarists. Richard Smith leaves these guys standing.
Django Reinhardt, Jimmy Page, Clapton, Roy Clark, Jeff Beck
Gilmore,Howe,Page
How about Lester Polsfuss and Andres Segovia
Hendrix, Krieger and Buchanan.
Rory Gallagher #1
Jeff Beck, Mick Ronson, Brian May.
Brian May is overrated.
Opinions vary Eddie Van Halen Steve Vai Joe satranni and others not mentioned but it's all good
How on earth could a list like this not include John, Paul, George? I doubt any of these guys sold as many guitars as the Beatles! and in terms of inspiration I mean they really have no equal.
That said this list is crap! why because there is no best! I've read where Jimi thought Terry Kath was the best, then i read where he thought Billy Gibbons was the best. Jeff Beck? Ritchie Blackmore? Glen Cambell? Tommy Tedesco? Chet Atkins? James Burton? Tony Iommi? And if I haven't pissed you off to the point of no return there are at least 100 other names that can get on the list.
I've been a Beatlemaniac since the 60's. I still think they are the greatest group ever. But I'm afraid that is not how the so-called experts think!
@@Cyber-Theo agreed! I think my point though is more that top 3 or 10 or whatever are so subjective. I wish someone would say “my 10 favorite xxx”! Then it’d be a valid list.
I thought George Harrison was great. Some of his Beatles stuff was excellent. He's up there in the top 5 - 7 or so but maybe not the top 3. 1:38
@@paulhagen5645 yes I agree with your point, I think I’m saying there are so many variables to “the best” that your top 10 isn’t mine and I just people would title these thing “MY TOP 10”. Then you could comment “oh I’d add so and so and take out you #4”.
@@Cyber-Theo Stones are the Greatest Group Ever!
Mark knopfler
SRV
Hendrix
Hendrix Beck McLaughlin. no debate.
Who is the three?
JIMI Always1 The one and only! If you have the hearts and ears you now
......und Paul kossoff, Keith Richards und Peter Green.
I would replace Eric Clapton with EVH. Then I would be happy with these three
good pick
Don't leave out Robin Trower!!
Yes jimi hendrix is the best, yet so was roy buchanan im sure others will be mentioned
1. Paco de Lucía
2. Others
My personal favourite is Jimmy page.
exactly
Jimi Hendrix - Jan Akkerman, the most versitile, Jimi Paige
A better title for this would be "MY" (your) choice for the 3 best. Not THE best 3. Way too many to list.
You are right.
Jeff Beck?
Prince
Where the hell is Jeff Beck?
Beck died years ago.
Only 3???
Yes, I'm trying to keep the list short and sweet. Even though I might not agree with the findings.
Stanley Jordan
It's Roy Clark as best of all time; definately.
CHET AKINS IS THE G.O.A.T. OF GUITARISTS AND BET YOU PEOPLE HAVE NEVER HEARD OF HIM GOGGLE HIM AND FIND OUT IM RIGHT
James Burtern
Misspelled his name James Burton. My favorite guitar player of all the fantastic players. Except that guy who played for Elvis
@@jeffreymars8062 Elvis is King! 😃 👑
Hendrix , Clapton , Beck .
Yep if Beck is Jeff LOL
@@jerryschipano8385Hendrix,Clapton and Jeff Beck sounds good to me.
PRINCE
Overrated.
Tiny Tim!
The chicks went crazy for him, lol.
No, he played the ukulele.
Angus
Who are the brain police?
I'm not sure lol
stopshittyrobotvoice
You are right!
No such thing.
Hello, just a small reminder of someone who is ( The King ) The Mighty Van Halen Rules the World 🌍. Edward Van Halen is the one and only ( The King ). Better than these 3 guys by light years. Especially Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. These 2 guys were average on their best days. But I will give a pass to Hendrix, he deserves all the accolades people give him. There were 2 people that changed the world of guitar playing. #1 Jimi Hendrix then Edward Van Halen came out. End of discussion. Long live the King. RIP Eddie. ❤
Elvis is King! 👑
Eric Clapton is not a very good guitarist, but mediocre and very boring. Tommy Emanuel, Alex Lifeson and Mark Knopfler are (among many others) a lot better than Clapton
SLASH, SLASH AND KIRK HAMMETT.
Johnny Depp #1 ... oh wait no- sorry, he was supposed to go on the top 3 Fake-rockstars list...🤕
everyone has the right to have their opinion.
Well you had 2 right anyway. The one I disagree with is Jimi Hendrix. He was a great guitar player but did not have the longevity due to him dying so young. For me its Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, & Joe Bonamassa. In that order.
Hendricks , bb king, srv
They are great great musicians but none of the above can play Frank Zappa
Zappa? Crappa.
@@SeptemberChild1835 he was way ahead of his time which you will probably never understand
@@SeptemberChild1835 you in a million years could never play Zappa
@@JamesLapiana-vv7hp Exactly! I would rather play the Stones!! 😃🎸
