    This was by far the most helpful tutorial I've seen for framing! I've cross stitched for a long time, but I've never been able to properly show off my projects. You've reignited my love for it, thank you so much for that. :)

      Same here - I used to cross-stitch & do needlepoint, but gave it up because I had all these lovely FOs hiding in a craft drawer/bins. Found this while working on a gift for my in-laws, and it's encouraged me to go ahead and start mounting/framing my work too. Thank you!! 🥰

    Great tip about using a double mount to keep the glass farther away from the stitching!

    Thank you for showing me how to frame my piece! Other methods using tape/glue really bothered me.

    I just hot glue mine into a cut frame. Never washed a cross stitch but I keep mine clean while stitching and dont use hoops. I stitch in a carboard frame that I throw away after each piece. Hoops always do things I don't care for. I like double mating as well and cut all my own mats.

    Can you elaborate on how you get the corners to lay flat when stretching the work?

    I would love your helpful advice on how to clean and repair a cross stitch piece that was gifted to me as a child. Unfortunately, the edges of the fabric were stapled to a card board backing when framed and it put some strain on the fabric causing it to split and tear a bit over time since it’s been in storage.

    Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! I have never framed my works myself before. Is it possible to cut the mountboard to fit a smaller pictureframe?

    Please can you explain how to deal with corners? I can't seem to get them to lie flat the rest of the demo works very well. Many thanks.

      You could take a tip from sewing, and snip a notch to make a mitered corner. There should be tutorials for that online, possibly under clothes or quilt sewing.

    Thanks, this is so helpful! How many strands are you using in the lacing? The full 6?

    • @BothyThreadsLtd
      @BothyThreadsLtd  3 года назад +4

      Yes all 6 - it makes the thread much stronger for pulling through.

    Does the protection spray wash out?

    • @BothyThreadsLtd
      @BothyThreadsLtd  3 года назад

      I believe it does but only after a few washes. We suggest washing first then using protection spray if you are going to frame your piece without glass.

    • @mandisaw
      @mandisaw 2 года назад

      @@BothyThreadsLtd Haven't used fabric spray on my pieces, but from other work, I'd say be careful that some formulations can slightly alter colors, either right away, or over time.
