No need to apologize, you do the work at your pace. We'll watch.
The more vids you post the better for us.
Thank you!! I needed to hear that! I’m glad you enjoy them!!
cutest shop dog i ever did see
aw thank you sooo much!! he is my best little friend! he loves hanging out and working on stuff
I don’t typically care for small dogs. But your little shop partner is a real cutie 😂
I use to not like small dogs but this little guy is different he’s such a good shop dog and lil buddy!
Thank you for sharing 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for visiting
You’re a very brave lad and must have an excellent memory, love the content.
aw thank you so much!! I just love comments like this!! they really brighten my day! thank you!
I would at least get new ring's. Thanks for the video
Yea I couldn’tdecide if it smokes or anything I’ll replace em, thank you!
Yep rings are cheap. Just use an honing stone with your drill and new rings are easy to install. Will improve your compression as well as your oil control. I'm 75 yrs old and farmed a dairy farm with these tractors and rebuilt them back in the day as well.
I like your opening scene
I'll send my '49 8N over for a rebuild when you finish your tractor. I have enjoyed following this series.
Hahaha thank you very much it means a lot!
If you use pliers or wrenches ,it’s yours ,use a crescent hammer ,pizza pan ,heat gum . It’s yours . Period . Nice rebuilding!
lol 😊😂thanks!
Great movie thanks Pliers are ok very useful tools. Lol
lol
Love the puppy.
That ole 8n is a work horse. Use to pull two full wagon loads of hay to the barn. Many uses for it.
Take your time now. It will pay off in the end.
Love this video. I am a new subscriber.
Thank you again frank!! I love my little buddy he follows me around everywhere and keeps me company, I love animals they really help you cope with problems in life!! I’m so glad you enjoy the videos!! They take a lot of effort to make so it means a lot to me that you enjoy them and subscribe!! Thanks again friend, have a great day!
Have the crank turned and polished and get ew bearings according to size...important.
prob should have
Take all the time you need.
Thank you very much!!! Thank you for your support also!
I bought a 1952 8n in 2000 to help maintain some land i bought. The 3 point would drop every time you pushed the clutch in. I rebuilt the lift and had to put a pressure plate in about 3 years after i got it. That's about all I've had to do to it. I've done a lot of work with it. My son bought a finish mower and has been mowing his 3.5 acres for the last 3 years with it. They are limited in what they can do but for the money imo are worth it. Mine will still start on the first crank even tho i don't get to see mine much anymore. I hope you get as much pleasure out yours as i have mine.
that is awesome!! I’m so glad to hear that it has been a great tractor for you!! hopefully mine will be the same!! thanks for watching!
I love the detailed looks and the info. I have an 8N in my future.
Thanks for watching tony!! I’ve always loved your videos! I really appreciate you coming over and checking out and watching! Thanks brother!!
I hope you go ahead and have the valves done. You have the engine torn down to the block. Grind the valves and check the valve guides. Have the surfaces refaced and all of the water channels cleaned. Basically have the bock boiled and cleaned in a machine shop and finish it correctly. You have gone this far, it only makes sense to finish it all. Love to see old engines brought back to life. Good series!!
Thanks for the tips!
instead of spending a lot of money on concrete you can always use a 3/4 piece of plywood. Clutch and pressure plate look good as long as it is not oil soaked. You are doing this one the correct way, Great Video of my favorite child hood tractor.
great idea! and thank you so much for watching and commenting!!!
That tractor is getting a lot of love, can't wait to see that thing doing some work.
Thank you so much ants!! It’s def getting a lot more work than I initially intended when I first bought the tractor, but I’m glad that I’m taking it all apart and replacing gaskets and all. I can’t wait to have it finished and running!!! Got any ideas what I should do with it once it’s running? Pull trees? Stumps?..
@@TheHomePros6221 All that and more, hehe are you going to paint it also?
I am going to paint it but that will be later on.. I plan on completely restoring it one day
Fun to watch brother! I learn a ton.
Glad you enjoyed it
I have enjoyed your videos! I have a '49 8n that I recently overhauled, it also had no oil pressure, and now runs great! You are doing a fine job!
Thank you Raymond!! that’s so cool! I have plans on painting and restoring this a little more also just got so many other projects going on rite now
Although this is 2 yrs old, I would have replaced the throughout bearing and piston rings as piece of mind. Also should have pulled the valves before pressure washing.
I feel you should always replace the clutch while you have the engine apart, the material is contaminated with oil and almost on the brass connecting pins.

yea you are probably rite, I’m gonna run it and see how long it lasts and thankfully it’s not super hard to split the tractor when time to do the clutch. thanks for your comment brother!
It’s a mistake not doing piston rings…your right there.. besides you well be likely that them lld ring well every reset
I actually bought new pistons, rings ect and I plan on eventually putting them in but it doesn’t smoke and runs great now
Don't worry about # of episodes , most do 30-40 minutes at most. But its about the quality of your content that will grow your channel. You do a great job explaining, showing your techniques and engaging your audience. Keep uploading and look forward to your next video.
thank you sooo much!! means a lot to hear your wonderful comment!
Take care of that pup!!
I love my dogs they are my best friends 🙂🙂🐕🐕
Waydiiiii ,,, super good start Bang ,,,, you have an interesting restoration destination. A four-legged friend is also interested in the machine. You handle the old iron with a soft hand. I look forward to new videos.
THANK YOU
You should have whipped out pliers to take off your rod and main nuts just to mess with folks lol Keep up the good content brother!
hahahah thanks man!!!
Best intro ever 🤣🤣👍. Great job as always Darrell!!
Hahaha I was wondering if anyone was gonna like the intro lol bout wrecked the dang thing a box got caught under the tire and I couldn’t steer or stop haha thanks for watching!!
I appreciate these vids man, I'm fixin to tear into my first tractor which looks like a 2n with and 8n front end. I've learned a lot just watching you work, keep on truckin
Glad to help my friend, thank u very much!!
9N and 8N tractors after sitting for several months or in your case several years lose oil pressure due to a vacuum that sets up between the oil pickup valve and the pump. Two solutions: 1. using a hand pump, pump air through the opening where the oil line from the engine to the oil filter connects. solution 2. Pour 90 weight oil down the same opening and crank the engine ....both solutions will work if the oil pump works as it should. Of course if the oil pump can be bad and neither of these actions will work. Taking the oil pan off is a chore...
You are correct, but the oil pump was bad check out my other vids on it, I rebuild the engine
I've always wanted one of these. Love that you're getting to do this!!
thank you soooo much I love comments like this!!
@@TheHomePros6221 I just started watching your channel a few days ago. Watching the rebuild on the engine. My channel focuses on my son and our 50 Ford F1 (Edna)
Sweet I’ll check it out
Loving this series! Excited for the next one!
Thank you so much!!!
Excellent video :) all going super on repairs and rebuild engine to also part 4 been looking forward more watch too!
Thank you very much I really appreciate it!!
@@TheHomePros6221 welcome
You better check the cam shaft bearings
I did they were good
big thing is keep it clean. good stuff brother looking forward to seeing you getting it running
Thank you very much mr. Mike!! And thanks for watching!!
I would replace the front trans seal, a lot of your oil could be coming from there, 4 bolts! easy.
Yes you are totally correct I will check on that!!
At least you didn’t drop it on the 🐶
would never I’d let it fall on me instead
I guess it will be an expensive recovery..
it hasn’t been that much really
Sorry I have to f/forward on the head banging music. One of my 8ns is needing an overhaul. Soon as I get room in the garage. lol The clutch disc is usually good until you get near the rivets . Keep any half decent parts on the shelf and label them.
Sorry that the music is loud it doesn’t seem loud when editing but maybe one of ours is turned up to loud, you can also turn the music down on your phone or whatever your watching it on, I will try to keep this in mind on future videos! Thank you for watching and your comment!
Definitely replace the clutch while you are in there and for the throwout bearing even though it might not have any play just to save yourself from having to do it in the future nearly
your correct!
@@TheHomePros6221 nicely done btw, just for kicks I'd paint the tractor after I was done with it too after pretty much doing a complete rebuild anyways..
On a side not, the oil pump didn't look bad to me with only a tiny bit of play in it. Make sure the pressure tube at the junction is clear which might had been a big part of your problem but im sure you checked that so nice job anyways.
yes I do plan on painting the tractor if I continue the series past part 4 it will prob be in part 6. thanks for the info but I did check the pressure tube and the whole system was clear, the pump had wore out gears, bushings..ect and wouldn’t prime unless forced to, hopefully this fixes the problem! thanks for watching!!
@@TheHomePros6221 nicely done
thank you sooo much!!
Love the series. You may have put the oil pump gasket on backwards, but probably won't make much difference.
yea I saw that do u think I should take it apart and swap it?
I always go back to make sure and redo so that way there is no worry about an incorrect installation, no matter how slightly off.
I did go back and swap it good eye brother
Parts is parts. That is a lot of loose parts floating around. I usually have a few parts left over when done. Part 5 really should be you putting it on a trailer and giving it to me. Haha. Love those Ford tractors. Thanks for the video. I hope you do put in a new clutch disc, pressure plate and throw out bearing as long as you have it down that far.
Hahah thanks man!!
Seria interesante ya que lo has desarmado por completo, de limpiarlo de esa suciedad del tiempo que paso parado y le dieses algo de color, en una palabra darle vida no solo mecánica.-
me no understand ☹️
I watched the entire 4 part series and really enjoyed it. I just bought myself one of these old Ford 8n's and it runs and functions well so I don't need to do this yet but I think it has inspired me to find another old classic that's not running and do something like this just for fun. How did you learn?
thank you so much my friend!!! I really appreciate it! if you have any questions feel free to ask, I learned by just working on stuff no one really taught me 🙂
👍
Hello there really enjoyed the video it’s actually relaxing watching someone else do all the dirty work of cleaning parts. I had to chuckle when I saw you take off the fly wheel but I am just glad no one got hurt.😀One comment I had was you didn’t show that crankshaft journals and there condition I have my 51 Ford 8N apart and the bearings were bad the oil pump was bad the pistons rings sleeves oil pump are all bad but I will have to take my crankshaft to get it ground, was your crankshaft good? I will be waiting for the next part of the series! Sure can get expensive fast in a hurry but they are a good investment 🇨🇦😀
Thank you very much!! The crankshaft was ok I’ll prob show it in part4 it had some slight grooves in the rod journals but not bad at all, the main journals were in perfect shape. If u have any questions feel free to ask I like talking with people on here. Thanks again for watching!
Can l ask , what do you do
for a daily job , as l am
interested in what people
say they do , also you look
kinda young lol.😀
I own a home improvement company called the home pros, I do roofing, flooring, plumbing, electrical..ect
You should have used pliers to take that cable off, jus kidding man I think a man has the right to use whatever tool he wants as long as they are his. Good Job!
HAHAH thanks brother!! And you are so correct!!! Thanks for watching also and for the epic comment!!
You absolutely must hone and re ring if you pull the slugs out the bores. They will never seat right again if you dont.
I did, I showed it in the video, it might be in part4
Just a thought did you bleed the air out of the oil line before you started it? Work best if you do. For your oil geage
not in this video but in the other later videos I did
concrete floor next job after tractor rebuild........
Yes yes yes!!… well I got another project I have to finish first lol but hopefully one day!
your name has got me. what is it exactly your a pro at? Ive got to believe you have never had any formal or informal mechanics training or education. and cant believe you go to all the time, effort and expense to tear the whole engine and front end apart but do not do a complete job and replace sleeves, pistons and rings as a set as well as doing a proper valve job with at least new valve springs. and this is a more desirable 8n with side distributor. the first 8n I rebuilt was one of these with less desirable front distributor was 35 years ago so I do know a little bit about what I write.
Yea all that costs money I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on sleeves and pistons and all when it didn’t need it compression numbers were good enough
Are you going to reply to any of my responses?
Are those rods semetrical or will they fit either direction?
Symmetrical. The rod caps are always matched to their corresponding rods and are directional.
That is correct!
Must be a Alabama boy always using pliers.
haha I do live in alabama!!
@@TheHomePros6221 yea I could tell we Alabama boys love our pliers
Smiths station here
@@TheHomePros6221 I would go ahead and change the trowout bearing and clutch disk. I made that mistake on mine had to tear it down again.
I was really thinking about it but it’s all in good shape and tight so I mite just send it
Captions please.
What do u mean by captions?
English captioning for the deaf.
See if that works
@@TheHomePros6221 works good 😊
New viewer, what were you thinking (28:40) tightening down the conrod bearing without a torque wrench and then deciding it was ok. How can you possibly decide it's ok when not torqued down. I was willing to let the pliers episode slide without comment but basic mechanical procedure leaves me wondering where you learnt your knowledge?
@@johnlawton5534 I was only testing the clearance, common who assembles rods on a crank before it’s even in the engine? We’re did YOU learnt your knowledge ?
Are you going to do the velves
Your dog is adorable. I don't think power washing all that crud into the river is good for the environment 😬 Awesome video though.
Music way too loud.
sorry buddy
👍🇸🇪❤️
thanks a ton!!
This should be a pretty reliable tractor when done. Can’t figure out how the seller thought it was worth $3000 dollars
U never took the valves out?
I did off camera
Where you located

HELLO TRACTOR MAN FORGET THE PLIERS BUT I THINK YOU SHOLD HAVE THE CRANK TURNED WHILE HAVE THAT TORE DOWN THAT FAR A PLACE WOULD TURN IT AND NEW BEARING FOR A LITTLE OVER A HUNDRED DOLLARS THEN WOULD BE FITTED IVAN FROM ILLINOIS. FORGET THE SPELLING
I don’t know why either because he grew up in ruler like we did my grandpa Myrtles could use the buyer and not leave a mark on the balls to be a farm Mechanic you need to be proficient in the use of Bleier, five script, hammers, and other tools take stuff apart. I don’t know what’s wrong with these people in the comments so they’ll probably murder me for saying this.
