Jakarta is overuse land water. so the surface is sinking and below the water level. so now the land water is salty.

Sana nga di magaya yung Manila jan
Kaya tigilan niyo na ang kantuan para hnd na dumami ang tao
It's easy to transfer businesses and build infrastructures outside Metro Manila to cater the greater Manila area because the islands are connected by bridges. We just need to ride public transportation to move from the province to Manila and vice versa.
Indonesia's problem is that their islands are too much farther apart from each other that it is impossible to connect islands using bridges. You need to ride a plane or a boat to move from one island to another. Transferring businesses or government agencies to other island there means abandoning the former island. Jakarta has more poor families than the rich ones. It is impossible for them to travel via plane back and forth for their needs.

You know what's funny?
Videonya di garap sama media luar negri yang majority audience nya untuk mereka yang tinggal di luar Indonesia. Padahal yang sebenernya butuh disadarin adalah orang orang di Indo.
Rarely Indonesian media take environment issues seriously. For example this one.
Karena media cuma meliput berita yg "laku dijual", orang indonesia masyarakat menengah kebawah gak peduli dgn lingkungan
Mana ad yg peduli? Kan Indonesia terlalu fokus ke ekonomi dan politik

The city is soo huge, it's like that scene from BladeRunner 2049 except with better lighting.
xponen_ No, its huge but disgusting. I would rather live in LA in Bladerunner 2047.
You know what the bad part about that comment is? the dystopian world of bladerunner actually looks nicer than this :,(
Leopold well, it’s actually famed for being a sinking city already! However.
I can’t find anything that talks about the cities size and weight as being the problem- it covers more global warming and natural disasters. No doubt that’s an adding problem but still.
@Leopold they're also sinking but slowed down since they have a better city plan.
But LA in BladeRunner 2049 is ten times better than this. Even dystopian future is better than Jakarta.
By 2050 every home will be having a boat for transportation rather than a car.

I don't get this, millions of people are under the threat of displacement.
And yet you guys are making jokes.
I don't think they give a shit either
That's what humans do
thats all we can do
Did anyone gave a shit? If they did, then there would be no civilization there.
Why not? Joking doesn't make the problem worse, not joking won't fix it. It's a mess caused by humanity's collective refusal to think ahead, even when the future problem is very obvious.
Interesting how the majority roofs of Jakarta are coloured grey, while Manila with similar situation having combinations of red and grey.

@@enzosw The problem is the risk of catastrophic failure, living behind a dam is only a good idea if you can be sure of having plenty of warning when it's about to fail. Jakarta already has a significant earthquake and tsunami risk and the population density... it might be smarter to just move.
aleksander suur Jakarta experinces a number of earthquakes, mostly from the southern side. As for Tsunami, the only threathening one is from the North side sea, which historically rare, except from Krakatoa.
@@taxol2 sure, it's rare and the chance of getting hit with such a tsunami maybe isn't even that great, but you have to multiply with consequences. If half a city of 10mil is below sea level and it does happen and the dam does suffer a catastrophic breach..... causalities could be in the millions. You would have to take a really careful look at how likely such an outcome could be and what would be the acceptable limit. Once in 10 000 years maybe, which would translate into ~1% chance of it happening in a century, which is already very risky. Could you get the risk that low? I doubt it, tsunamis are rare but not that rare. More realistic would be couple times in 1000 years, which considering the potential causalities would be completely unacceptable.
As a comparison, this range of risk would be unacceptable for nuclear industry. If you had a reactor design with a risk of once in 10k years of core damage, you would not be allowed to build it because it would be deemed way too unsafe.
Ashish -walls....hmmmmm.😂
This looks similar to manila. Since when i rode an airplane, we were landing. And from what i saw in yhe video, is similar to my city... Its just sad...
I lived in Manila for two years and that is also what this video reminded me of. How sad for these people.
Nah, Manila are going better now because of isko the new mayor of manila, he's eager to make manila a green city and I can see the progress now.
@@marivicclaros3612 my comment was in response to someone from Manila who said it reminded them of it. I merely agreed. :-) i loved living in Manila as people were so fun and friendly. And I have not been there since 1993 so am sure there are many changes. :-)
@@marivicclaros3612 Manila is just one city. The entire Philippines should do the same. Jakarta will soon be the Philippines with the disregard of its forests and mountainside. The city of Marikina was in the news again for being underwater because the Sierra Madre mountainside has been continuously quarried and mined with massive illegal cutting of trees. To think the city has been underwater years ago already and the government never learned. Population control is also a problem with the urban poor's increase of unplanned pregnancies. All over Metro Manila rushed condominium developments make the city as grey and concretized as Jakarta. Every time I visit the Philippines the greenery gets less and less seeing it from the plane. Disregard of the environment, over building of condos and overpopulation - recipes of Jakarta's pending disaster and demise.
