This documentary MISLEADING to tell lies in order to support the Global Warming and Climate Change Cult Hoax Propaganda.
The above title clearly saying "Jakarta Sinking" not "Sea Level Rising causing Jakarta underwater". Sinking means land are going down (slump). If sea level rising, not just Jakarta will be affected but all land meets the ocean in entire earth will be underwater because all seven seas are interconnected as one big water pool.
Until today, there are no single proof given how many inches the sea rises since 1950 until today because of melting ice poles. No statistic or data collected published by mainstream media as proof all lands meet the sea experiencing sea level rises EXCEPT data on tides was provided only that shown average sea level still remain the same since 1950.
Jakarta floods are cause by heavy rain because poor/bad drainage system maintenance (stagnant water), not sea water pouring in causing floods.

@@nerdsworthpoindexter6661 yes, they are, but at a much slower rate (around 3 to 4 mm / year) than the rate at which Jakarta is sinking (around 10 to 30 cm / year). This is why what is said in the documentary is completly misleading: the fact that Jakarta will be underwater by 2050 has almost nothing to do with global warming, it is mostly because of massive pumping of groundwater (due to the fact that only 25% of Jakarta houses are connected to the main water system).

They are relocating their capital, not the whole Jakarta. Only government servants, ministeries and supporting organisations and related business and services will be transfered to the new capital.

It always strikes me that Indonesian sounds like a provincial dialect for me as a Filipino.
You should know that Bahasa Indonesia is from Malay language which is adopted as Indonesia’s language to unite people from various Islands since Malay was the lingua franca in the region encompassing the Malay archipelago. Malay and Tagalog are both from the same origin which is Austronesian. Therefore there are a lot of similar words between Malay and Tagalog.

Indonesian is flat like Tagalog and both are not nasal language. No other SEA languages have both of these properties.

Nasal and tonal contrasts are rare in Austronesian languages, although Moklen and a few languages of the Chamic, South Halmahera-West New Guinea and New Caledonian subgroups do show lexical tone.
Languages not dialect. Dialect are Tagalog Manila, Tagalog Batangas and Tagalog Palawan.

Obviously, they don't. Because why they should??? Remember back then when there's 1 governor who honestly leads the province and already foresee that Jakarta needs natural sea barrier? He suggested to build islands to reduce sea water abrasion, but ppl goes far to take him down whatever the cost. Serve them right. It's a good thing that Jakarta is sinking, so they can finally wake up and realize how stupid they are.
and the people didnt help them self too. the river is their garbage bin. besides jakarta used to be a swamp. the swamp does what a swamp is supposed to be.

Government never left Jakarta with their problems when capital city move to IKN. There are many project on progress now to solve the Jakarta problems. Some of them :
Prevent flood and sea water rising :
- Giant Sea Wall Project
- Build dam in upper river flow
- River revitalization
- Sodetan Ciliwung
Provide fresh water for 1,1 million houses :
3 Project with cost more than 26 trilion rupiah which are SPAM regional Jatilhur 1, SPAM Juanda and SPAM Regional Karian Serpong
Traffic jam and pollution :
- Expanding MRT line
- Build LRT line
- Improve TransJakarta bus service
- Improve commuterline service
- Subsidies for electrical vehicle
etc..
This documentary just to shallow.. they didnt digging more information from other sources such as Ministry of Public Works and Housing and Provincial Government of Jakarta

Jakarta is sinking, over populated and the Javanese island is prone to earthquake , tsunamis etc. There's also frequent demonstration from the people, so rather than dealing with the problems and finding solution to fix this, just like their coloniser VOC in the past, their leader decided to move the capital city to somewhere new and safe. Kalimantan was chosen because it is safe from any earthquake, no volcanoes, plenty of land, and in the middle of Indonesia.
They're illegal settler, build house in public area. They're not that poor, mostly they have own proper house in their hometown, even luxury car.
Well they tried to copy Brasilia but the logistic is way more complex with all the islands the model is from the 60s and it's completely outdated and if so it should have been in East Java not Borneo

Does the people who did this documentary actually understand that if Jakarta will probably be underwater by 2050, it has almost nothing to do with climate change ? Even if we succeeded in stopping global warming, and the sea levels were stable or even decreasing instead of rising, this will have almost no impact on the fate of Jakarta.
The documentary would have been more interesting if it actually adressed the main reason behind the sinking of Jakarta : the massive, and often illegal, pumping of groundwater due to the fact that only 25% of Jakarta’s households are connected to main water system.

totally agree. Also, all that money invested to build a new city could have been used instead to improve the Jakarta water supply system, so that people could stop pumping groundwater, one of the main reasons why Jakarta is sinking.

WHY is the land sinking?
The aquifer below the city is being pumped out faster than it refills.
The San Joaquin Valley in California has sunk something like 6 feet because of aquifer pumping.
Too many people and tall building.
The city lays below sea level.
too much aquifer drainage and unstable soil.
Massive extraction of ground water due to insufficient piped clean water system.
Bangkok/Thailand is facing the same problem, unstable soil due to massive groundwater depletion!

The title of this documentary is a bit misleading. The ground is sinking due to the weight of the city and the sinking land. This has nothing to do with rising sea levels.

Jakarta is sinking because of both factors. A lot of the population have no access to clean water. They use undergound water. The acquifer is not filled back due to the city is now filled with roads, building and steels. So it is sinking. At the same time. North Jakarta is being hammered by rising sea levels.

However they planned that after IKN they will built massive garuda sea wall structures surrounding north Jakarta to prevent the sea water from rising. By then I guess, will be too late or tbh I don't think they will have the budgets to do it since now they are facing problem with IKN funding.

Wrong. The whole of coastal West Jawa is literally sinking. I flew over it a year or so ago and you can literally see it receding into the sea. Any sea level rise is minimal. Otherwise all land would be impacted equally. It's just more "climate change" hysteria.

I fear for the new capital city in Borneo. Experts can plan a “forest city” all they want but if public education is not given to Indonesians to NOT litter everywhere and throw your own rubbish, it’s pretty much pointless. Foresee the move to be doing more harm than good any way you look at it.

Another video, another accusation of climate change. So which is it? Is the sea level rising or is the city sinking? These are not the same thing. If all of the other towns and cities in the region are not experiencing what Jakarta is experiencing then it’s not climate change and it’s not sea level rise.
In Scandinavia, the sea level is getting lower. No one says it is because of climate change. It’s because of isostatic rebound. (And the reason for this is that we no longer have the same ice sheets that we did 27,000 years ago, but we are only on the hook for everything that’s happened since 1850)
But we are used to this now aren’t we folks? Rain or shine it’s always climate change.
