This drill is doing wonders for my swing in a short amount of time. What feel do you have to get the shaft to come down to the 4oclock position? Hands dropping or is it the turn of the lower body?
Love it Chris! what you need to feel depends on a) where are you coming from b) what you current do Heres more on the downswing feels ruclips.net/video/PjUCfzMmM48/видео.html
*Eric Cogorno Golf* Man am I messed up . I am 66 years old . Started Golf when I retired 2 years ago. Subscribed to your channel over this last winter. Bought a Divot board on your recommendation to practice swings in the House . I have played baseball and still do on a fast pitch league . Fairly fit so am able to make a good balanced turn . Having no engrained bad habits . I was able to watch your videos and pick this up 1/2 way decent . I can only hit 7 Iron about 156-160 in the air . Hopefully that improves . What has me screwed up is I have been practicing a move you showed in a 2019 video . Where weight from the top of the Backswing goes to the heel of the left foot . That's been working great . Then I ran into a video you did with Milo Lines where you squat as your first move from the top of the backswing . I can do it fine in front of a mirror but actually hitting the ball is now a big chunk behind it . I'm not asking for advice . I realize you have memberships for getting advice . *I'm just wondering why you are teaming up with different RUclipsr Teachers* I was doing so well just taking your advice that the pro at the driving range . Seemed to not believe I was new to the game . Scoring isn't that great. I would say my average round for 18 is just under 90 . Regardless of how open the fairways are . While I am able to actually hit the ball relatively straight . When I miss a green my score can climb pretty fast . I chip and pitch just ok . distance isn't very accurate I think you're a great teacher. But everyone of these online guys has a slightly different approach. I don't know about other guys watching your videos . But all these different teachers you've teamed with has really thrown me off from how well I was doing just shifting to the front left heel before starting the downswing . Wondering if this Milo's squat move is something I need to avoid or just keep practicing . I will say the Tilt Videos messed me up at first as well . Maybe because it was making me conscious of the position vs just doing it . Those however only made me pull the ball at first . I think in the long run they are giving me more pop off the club face . Thanks
I'd take a 7 iron travelling 156-160 in the air every day... all day long. Reading what you have described, I think you need to stop "squatting" during your swing. Also, at set-up, I would recommend putting more weight on your lead leg... try 60% lead leg, 40% trail leg. Doing this and practicing with Eric's training station should stop with the chunks behind the ball.
What do you think of the over the top move....once you get to shaft parallel in the downswing.....just for a thought to cover the ball, ie hands in and club head out. Your thoughts
Hey! For what purpose? For someone who's too under plane those feels can help get back on plane... for this video and people who are over the top they need to feel the exact opposite
Really is a perfect drill. Been looking for something like this. Going to do this at the range every time. Might be away from the fam for longer than expected tho 🤣. Same applies to driver?
Hi Eric, Great video would this drill help me I have a inside takeaway and get a bit across the line at the top which make me come over the top all the time 🙁
Sounds like you need to change the club head to hands relationship (and shaft plane) going back Take advantage of free 14 day trial to www.cogornogolf.com/freetrial and send me your swings so I can see (first lesson free)
Check these out my friend! ruclips.net/video/uoz5jvrsTMA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Z_QxNhrQBN4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/mmHDoo3fhpk/видео.html Hope they help!
Eric, I notice on your takeaway on 10:28 that your shaft is quite a bit under your right forearm. I had a coach who was obsessed with getting me to not do this, as he viewed it as a disastrous move. Yet you still hit it magnificently. I spent so much money, time and effort trying to correct this and I feel it was wasted! I'll focus on the elements in this drill instead, I think.
Takeaway/backswing ONLY matters to the degree that it effects downswing....if you come down on plane then takeaway doesnt matter. If it messes up downswing then it matters a lot
I watched your session about handle up and forward at address. It’s got me drawing the ball. But I recorded my swing and I’m coming over the top. One hole I kept hitting the trees on the left teed up 3 times I’m just working on stuff no need to start scoring. But I was hitting a draw that definitely works. But I’m coming over the top. Hands never dropped down. It’s weird though because the club did naturally shallow but I never got my hands off my shoulder. Realized on the way back I was on the perfect plain. But on the way down I was way over top. Was thinking everything was backwards. That maybe I should take my hands out and then in. But this has debunked that for me before I started. I stand too far from ball also realized that. I think it has me reaching for the ball. Weird though all day with that swing I was carrying 270 with a draw but that hole screwed me and made me see what I was doing
Absolutely. You can OVER do or UNDER do anything I see about 1,200 swings every month 90% that dont do it correctly dont have enough depth. 10% over do
Good players are on or under plane generally speaking Poor players are above plane I see about 1,200 swings every month.....the above are overwhelming true from what I see
I have to be honest. I see very few over the top swings where people start way outside on the way back as you described. In fact that's often a solution to the over the top move, an exaggerated figure of 8 drill. Most people who come over the top, pull the club way on the inside AND rotate the club open, because they're so flat the shoulders can only go one way and that's back over the top. If you start outside, it's often a way to get back inside on the downswing. I'm a bit confused because this video seems to contradict a video you did where your takeaway went outside a ball basket on the way back, then inside on the way down?
Hey Lloyd! "I have to be honest. I see very few over the top swings where people start way outside on the way back as you described. In fact that's often a solution to the over the top move, an exaggerated figure of 8 drill." -Be careful here....Im talking about the HAND PATH/ARMS....sounds like you are talking about the SHAFT angle....that is a different topic. I see 1,200 swings every month.....trust me....and I dont care either way....but WAYYYYY more people lack backswing turn/epth than the opposite....thats just what it is, my opinion aside.

Please produce a disclaimer. All these exercises you describe are for young people. I would not be able to do that...unless I stay on the ground after the first exercise.
This is my favorite instructor. Clear, concise and great drills.
Thank you!
This might be one of your best. Getting the hands deep is critical! Such a great point.
Thanks James!!
Even more than this specific drill I like the system you express to use to evaluate your swing thank you for always putting out value bombs 💣
Our pleasure Maurice! Thanks for watching!
Thanks perfect instruction for the issue

Yep
Another great drill. Can you do this with your driver as well because of the slightly different swing and takeaway of the driver?
100% same principles with driver (and all clubs) as needed

Sorry for the detailed question but what angle do you set the alignment stick through the bucket at?

Does this same concept work for a driver?
Yep
on the other hand, is there a risk of getting stuck when club to much behind?
Absolutely.
You can OVER do or UNDER do anything
I see about 1,200 swings every month
90% that dont do it correctly dont have enough depth. 10% over do
Eric why is Christo at "My Swing Evolution" saying that swinging under the plane is a recipe for back injuries?
Hey Ed!!
No idea
Good players are on or under plane generally speaking
Poor players are above plane

When I saw you holding the little thing and saying 90% of golfers need this, I thought it might be a cyanide capsule.
I broke my damn driver doing this drill haha. Over the top sucks, I need to fix this asap!
Ruh roh!
@@CogornoGolf 😂 I wanted a new one anyways. Maybe one of those fancy drivers that prevents you swinging over the top 😂
This was money
