My mk7 Golf R has comfort sport or race modes but also has individual. So I can put the steering and transmission in sport but the adaptive dampers in comfort. Does the m240 have the option to do that? Or if you want your steering and throttle in sport or sport Plus, you can't put the dampers in comfort. Basically what I'm asking it's either all comfort or All sport or can you individualize each one like on my golf R? I've been searching everywhere for an answer and since you own one maybe you can give me a reply, I'd appreciate it

I literally bought this car (over the S5 and M440i) because of this video, and I'll add a couple notes - the paint color is fantastic in Not Canadian Overcast, and it's crazy durable (4 rock chips on a used model with 40k miles on it, otherwise immaculate). Mine is a convertible, but suffers from next to no cowl shake or softness in the corners. The exhaust note I would call Rage With the Machine - it just sounds harmonious and purposeful. Cannot agree with these guys more - this car is a blast to drive, easy on the eyes (the grill stops at the headlight line!) and super comfortable for daily driving.

Just picked up a 2017 M240i Drive. Only 17,000 KM, just off a three year lease, bought from BMW dealer, one owner, mint condition. Listed at 38,000 Canadian dollars, dealer knocked it down to 37,000 plus free set of new winter tires and installation and balancing, safety certification, tune-up. Car is still under original warranty for almost one more year, free maintenance for almost one more year. Beautiful Dakota Leather interior, loaded with most options including glass sunroof. Pick it up on Friday - so stoked!! Originally was looking at 3-5 series, M240i was not really on my radar - until I sat in it and drove around the parking lot at the dealer - sold before I got out of the car. I noticed these are a little hard to find now on auto trader, I got a "good deal" on the price - no great deals because these cars are in demand and the word is out. Most listed above the average asking price. Good for resale. New the one I am buying went for around 55,000 so it worth buying a three year old with low miles to save a chunk of depreciation, but still have a relatively new car.

Biggest issue with this car is the M2, I nearly bought one but ended up getting the M140i. The M140i is massive in the UK and is becoming something of a cult classic, flys well and truly under the radar but slays much bigger cars. Not the best off the line against the AWD Audi’s but roll on acceleration like you wouldn’t believe, a light tune unleashes a monster.

The Next Gen was imminent, the switch to FWD as the base platform was based on the core sales of “1” series BMW users. I’m currently in an 8Y RS3 Vorsprung and love it. The BMW M140i will always hit as a madness of a car, 3L I6 RWD, the greatest hits of BMW in a hatchback subcompact, a great edition in automotive history.

Brilliant review, gentlemen! I own a 2017 M240i Xdrive. +++to everything you said, but I think you summed it up best when you said that "the M2 Competition is the one that you want, but the 240 is the one that you need." I could not have summarized it better - all I want to do every day is DRIVE it!

I opted for the OG M2. I couldn't afford the Competition. But as you said, while the M240i would have saved me $10k, the depreciation of the M2 is significantly better than the M240i. I'll pay more now, but make up for it on the back end, or do even better...all while owning an M2 the entire time. Easy decision at that point. Very happy with my decision.

I have a 2018 M2 and I have to say it is the best car I have ever owned. I was considering a M240i, but with all the options I wanted it made sense to spend just a bit more and get the M2. Either way, they are both amazing cars. Glad BMW is still pumping out great driving cars for enthusiasts!

People don't realize how harsh the ride in most "pure" M cars is. It's easy to ignore in a test drive or when a friend takes you on a ride, but the M cars are more or less unusable as daily drivers because the suspension is so stiff. Most reviewers don't emphasize this enough. Thus, I agree with your conclusion, you want the M2 but need the M240i

I absolutely adore my little 1 series, and I genuinely can't think of anything I can replace it with. Yes I'd prefer an M2 but they're double the price second hand in the UK, and I've got a hatchback! Best value car you can buy, I have no idea why they're so cheap, but it means I could afford it so I don't care!

Great enthusiasm in your vids...thanks! I traded my (deer damaged) 2017 Subaru WRX for one of these since they had one with the manual and a "sport" package. Loved the WRX, but the new 240 is better has zero turbo lag...even off the line. Essentially paid $36.9K for a CPO with 4200 miles. Not totally a bargain except for the fact that small, sporty RWD coupes with manual transmission are so rare anymore. Note: I drove a 2017 M2 Competition thru Turo and it was just too harsh. Plus, I don't remember if the M2 had suspension settings to counter that harshness.
