I was expecting a friendlier conversation in an intimate distance than a distant one. Maybe the cause of the different vibe is how he was welcomed.
JBP commented about how he was welcomed badly in the GQ interview. Cathy at the least have pleasantries before the camera started rolling.

so was I. It seemed like Cathy's prep work was definitely intended to expose rather than explore. I saw that about the GQ interview - when I first watched it I was taken back by JBP's energy. Learning that they were never nice to him adds context and it also makes me wonder how high their blood pressure was being so close to each other.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I found much of your analysis insightful but will question one thing: if memory serves, the Rogan clip you use as an example was from a show post Newman interview, and Rogan was using the phrase 'So what you're saying' commedically and in reference to the Newman's incessant use of it. If I'm correct, your analysis here is derived from a false premise and, therefore, is unsupported. But I could be wrong - I watched those videos in real time many years ago. Again, I enjoyed this video and would like to hear your assessment on a more contemporary conversation: please consider analyzing the Fani Willis testimony. Lots of meat there.

You're right, definitely after the Newman interview. Thanks for watching - glad to see other people who enjoy the analysis and I love seeing your take. Also - I saw that testimony - I am planning out my content calendar so I'll look at it more.

A bit late to this conversation but perhaps I'll still get some engagement if the RUclips Algorithm hits others like me.
That interview was, by far, the strangest "interview" I'd ever seen. It was very apparent by the third or quarter-way mark that it was not a friendly engagement by her incessant use of that phrase, it was clear to me that she was doing what legacy media likes to do - find a segment they can use to paint him as controversial in order to get engagement from viewers. Jordan, I believe, has said this after the fact, but it really seemed like she had this notion of his character in her head, and she was going to try and strip the false person that sat in front of her away to reveal the one she had created in her head. But instead what happened was the exact opposite. Instead of her preconceptions being revealed as truth, almost every one was revealed as a lie. Something we'll likely never know is if her ego allowed her to accept that.
In a second bit of irony, the upload of the longform interview they had ended up being the most-viewed video on RUclips they ever produced (not to say that was something they were ever really aiming of achieving with a specific upload), when the goal of the interview itself was to get a soundbite, which themselves never reached the same level of attention as the longform content.

love this comment! Absolutely. I felt the same way - and I wonder if the people who decided to publish the long-form version did it knowing that it would paint Kathy in a negative way.

@@talktochrismiller From Jordan's understanding, as he spoke about it after the fact (I think in one of his JRE appearances), no! They felt it was a good interview, and, from both Kathy's and the network's perspective (who knows if any individual within felt different), they hadn't embarrassed themselves.
REALLY telling about how legacy news media views their actions and intent. This interview was the start of my complete distrust in news media. Honestly I ought to be thankful for that, otherwise I'd still be blind to it.
I'm curious - any plans to do a more comprehensive breakdown of the GQ interview? I felt that one was far more intense and complicated and nuanced than the Channel 4 interview, just not as well-shared (probably because of those reasons).
