So... do you even actually podcast, at all, or just have a RUclips channel with videos giving a quick product demo with an affiliate link? Don't get me wrong, I really DGAF about affiliate links.. I just now realized.. you're not even podcasting, are you?
Dan Camarda yes I do actually podcast. ruclips.net/user/geeksrising or you can search “the Bandrew says podcast” on any Podcatcher. 120+ episodes of the current podcast at once a week. There’s even a playlist for the podcast on the podcastage RUclips page.
CooLoserTech I could, but that’s dangerous. I’m already pissing people off by uploading non-review stuff. Haha. I think they’d burn this shit to the ground if I uploaded a 30-45 minute podcast weekly. Maybe I’ll give it a shot.
I look at it this way. If I don't want to watch a video from my sub feed, I'll just scroll past that video. I seriously think more ppl should hear/watch your podcast sessions, as they offer relevant information. I know I rely on you and it saves me from reading my own news, so now I can multitask listening to your show. Regardless, don't ever stop!!!!
I've got a portable set up for up to 4 people with a Behringer UMC404HD as the interface, 3 Sennheiser E835 dynamic mics and one EV N/D767a (MINE! MINE!) each going through a Fethead. That all goes into a 15-inch Macbook Pro with a 4 out headphone amp so everyone can hear the same thing with Sony folding haedphones. The Mics sit on Hamilton Nu-Era Tabletop Mic Stands which fold up very small but extend over 12 inches. Everything fits into a backpack that yes is very heavy but still portable
Oh god I lost it at the second eagle. Love this Just got my AT2020 that I decided to get after checking out some of your videos. Hanging out to try it tonight, thanks for your content
Haha -- yes, that is indeed "ultimate", and awesome! Just be sure to have travel insurance. I will add a "me too" on recommending that Ammoon tripod desk stand, as a travel option -- it's pretty amazing quality for the price, and stable for its light weight. Thanks for another fun and helpful video.
I bought a 6i6 to play my guitars and bass into so that I don't have to break out my big amps and I can also play them at night. Now I have been watching your channels to find a budget mic, cuz well I got a 6i6 might as well get a mic. Wish you would do a give away so the wife wont get mad at me spending money for budget mic, but oh well. Great channel man, subbed.
This is exactly what I needed to see since I am starting a travel podcast when I move to Madrid this August... that being said could you make another version of this but WAY simpler and on a budget? I was thinking a Samson go mic or something really small and usb related for 2 people. Thanks for the vid !
Okay.. looking to record an album while backpacking and climbing. Need an ultimate portable recording studio. So far i have a earthworks sr mic, smb7, motu/ua converter, Mackie Sr3,s, akg head phones, a dock and two power banks, mogami xlrs, power supplies etc. Any advice ? To lessen the load? Thanks Mr. Podcastage!!
Another Mini tripod worth looking into is the Manfrtto Pixi Mini. I use it all the time with my Zoom H5, it's amazingly solid. It's meant for cameras, but I suspect Mics might fit on it too, with an adapter. If not, it fits Zoom recorders real nice.
what's a good microphone for moblie podcasting? I'm looking for something the connects to an Android and has a clickon/handheld mic. Do they even make mics like this?
Podcast EDC lol. You could pull a move from nutnfancy's playbook and when you run into people who watch your channel you can check which podcasting items they are carrying with them.
sneak310 I would watch that for sure, probably would save on buying equipment too. For instance if he ran into me I have two mobile setups for recording. One is for bands (not super mobile but in SKB racks, requires a trolly) and one for podcasting. My podcasting one is in the gator 4u bag. Has a Furman, 2 dbx 286a’s, and a mini mbox 2. My laptop sits on top and runs PT 8 LE for tracking (without the iLok). I use 2 M-audio novas but if I’m worried about the condensers I use 57s with the large windscreens.
amazing, I still wonder how your audio can sound so full when my at2020 paired with the uphoria um2 audio interface, doesn't even sound this loud. Great video and good selections.
Quick question, so I'm starting a podcast I'm confused as to how to record.. do I use this zoom h6 thing? Use a DAW? Both??? Also I need a mixer, would you recommend using a Rodecaster Pro and recording everything on there? I'm going for the least post production work. Should I do the Rodecaster to the SD card? Or what would you recommend
Shockmounts are overrated. In that setup he will be missing a shockmount, probably, but only because of that desk stand. But really he won't be missing it because he's never going to be on the road podcasting. There is no podcast. It's jsut a RUclips channel where you get a quick n dirty look at a product and then there's an affiliate link in the description. That said.. the shockmount: It's really simple. Put the mic stand on a surface where your keyboard and mouse aren't and you don't have to worry about vibrations messing with you mic. Keyboard/mouse on desktop A, mic setup on floor stand, or on a boom arm attached to desktop B. And don't touch your mic. Problem solved, assuming you're not in a place with bad floors and people walking all over the place constantly. That's the exact way I use my mics for years now. Boom arm is not attached to my desk. No issues. I think most of the people that tell you you gotta get this, you gotta get that, are just really thinking about their dollars and cents from their Amazon affiliate links. I don't knock affiliate links, but I DO knock them when it's just a shameless plug in an attempt to grab cash.. so when Cliff tells people you gotta buy a $400 Mackie mixer and a $60 pop filter I just roll my eyes, because NOW, I know better.. And I'd probably buy Yamaha, Soundcraft, or Allen and Heath before I buy another Mackie. =)
"There is no podcast. It's jsut a RUclips channel where you get a quick n dirty look at a product and then there's an affiliate link in the description." ruclips.net/video/9TIXUnzugVI/видео.html
Podcastage thx for the quick reply I really like the sound of the re20 but not a fan of the huge shock mount that goes with it. Is there a second option for the shock mount. Would the Heil Sound PRSMB - Shock Mount For PR40 work? It’s a little smaller. My second option would be the SM7b. It just seams like less setting up when traveling. Ps your videos are great keep it up
THIS IS AMERICA! This entire country was built on a foundation of lies and deception. It would be Un-American to use the real sound when a convenient, better sounding falsehood exists.
haha I thought the same thing, because we were just at a zoo and went to the bird show, and they asked the audience "which of these sounds is the eagle?" and wow we were all wrong. The eagle sounds like a whiny little songbird.
i wish there was an interface for usb mics. i have two but need three more mics. it looks like I'm going xlr next. im recording podcasts and interviews into audacity on my macbook air 2015. any advice would be great.
a friend just ddonated the 404hd and i'm working on getting some dynamic mics next. i just wanted to build on my two nice condenser mics. this is for my documentary and podcast as I'm shifting into a new career as my disability gives me new challenges. all of my gear has been donated and I really wanted to not have to get even more mics. thanks for the info!
Oso What interface you use depends on your needs. If you need to record each person on their own track, then you'll need an interface that supports that. You can certainly use a mix of USB mics and dynamic mics through an interface, but that will be a nightmare to set up each week. I would either get a USB mixer with at least 6 XLR inputs and mix it down to 2 tracks understanding thaat you'll have less control over the raw output, OR get something like Behringer's UMC1820 (around $250 which is cheap for something like this) which has the same pretty good Midas pre-amps and then output to a DAW. You say you're using Audacity. I would find another multi-track DAW if you're going to record that many tracks.
I haven't used many Pyle products in the past but those I have weren't that great. Haven't tried their "58" so can't attest to how good it is, but I have tried the XM8500 and was impressed by the quality vs price point. LOVE Rogue Amoeba's stuff and use it and have reviewed it for MyMac in the past. I was basing my recommendation on his use of Audacity which is not great for multi-track, but will do what he's asking it to do. He's on a Mac, so GB is certainly a better, no-cost option, but he may not want the complexity of recording multi-track. I figured if you're looking to record up to 5 people with little to no complexity, then a mixer would do the trick. The UMC404HD (which I use in my mobile set up and it's little brother the UMC204HD on the desktop side) is amazing and certainly can be used instead of a mixer. A free option would be to use SoundFlower for the combined mix of the 2100 and 404.
Hey quick question from a podcasting noob here - I was checking out that Apogee interface you mentioned as I'm trying to find a simple "on the go solution" as well, but then I notice it doesn't have an XLR connection...or does it and I'm just not seeing it in the photos?....but if it doesn't, I was trying to work out why the need then for those XLR cables you mentioned. I think I either missed a step or maybe just don't understand what the Apogee does. Thanks in advance for the clarification!
I want a chance to play with that microphone so bad.. It has such a great "radio jockey" tone. I'm not going to pay more than $200 for a microphone though.
Nah, that's not how America does it. For the American ultimate travel podcast setup, you'd have a Mercedes van with a fully decked out recording studio in the back. All the most expensive gear in existence, neon lighting, gold plated microphone... excess taken to the extreme. :-P
THE ULTIMATE setup is : sc6-l rode + 2x rode go wireless + split audio cable for 5dollars . smarphone + dual mic splitter + wireless microphone and it's done u can record on the phone
can u do a fifine k670 mic review? casue all the reviews iv seen about it isnt as uh... i simply dont like the videos cause i only like your way of talking about the mics cause i am dumb and cant understand other than the people i already watch alot
Respectfully I passed as soon as heard the words “Apple fanboy” I don’t believe in paying for a $1000+ laptop that doesn’t have good reviews or a reputation.

You oughta be ashamed of yourself.

The budget version would be the Samson q2u or ATR2100usb or AT2005USB with a desktop tripod, and a windscreen/popfilter.
Okay.. looking to record an album while backpacking and climbing. Need an ultimate portable recording studio. as a mouse good choice is Logitech M590 Silent, it's rly low noise computer mouse.
Nice travel setup. I use a audio technica ATR2100, rode psa1 boom arm, random pop filter, audio technica ath 50 x and a scarlet 2i4.
How does that work for you?
Super dope video, Andrew. Really dig this for something to think about while traveling
I need to know these plugins ASAP... really can't wait 😵😵😵
Sy AJ me too! And I want to know how he adjust his settings to hit a good volume output maybe -6db?
what's a good microphone for moblie podcasting? I'm looking for something the connects to an Android and has a clickon/handheld mic. Do they even make mics like this?
I think you should not worry about RF interference when using balanced XLR connections.
okay thanks
No RodeCaster Pro?
New to this... Any reason the Focusrite Scarlett Solo wouldn't be good for this travel set up?
OR you can just take shure mv51 and iphone. i think . but still very nice video :)
Podcast EDC lol.

Do you not need a CL to power that mic? Thanks
amazing, I still wonder how your audio can sound so full when my at2020 paired with the uphoria um2 audio interface, doesn't even sound this loud. Great video and good selections.
I enjoyed this video very much bro! Thank you. Very helpful!
So, you don’t end up needing a cloud lifter for this?

Wait if Bandrew doesn't podcast then who am I listening to every week on the Bandrew Says Podcast?!
Is the apogee one big enough to power the re20 and the sm7b?
I noticed that you never use the shock mount for the RE 20. Do you ever get any feedback from not using the mount
If you bump your desk or the boom arm you would pick that up in the microphone.
Podcastage thx for the quick reply

Bandrew. Your Eagle sounds like a hawk.
Johnhitbox that’s exactly what it was. The eagle sounded lame. Haha. It didn’t sound as much like freedom.
Podcastage haha it’s okay, the Canada beaver doesn’t sound much better..
THIS IS AMERICA! This entire country was built on a foundation of lies and deception. It would be Un-American to use the real sound when a convenient, better sounding falsehood exists.

Rob Kar Bond the apogee solo and duet have “breakout” cables. You connect them to the physical interface and there’s an xlr plug on the cable.
Ah. Got it.
Love the vids
Neat! Like these kind of videos.
I'm confused. How does the Mic's XLR cable connect to that interface?
nevermind, I see the cable off the interface.
That microphone is gigantic. You're traveling with that?
I want a chance to play with that microphone so bad.. It has such a great "radio jockey" tone. I'm not going to pay more than $200 for a microphone though.
Lazy Mitchell I just saw the 450$ price tag... i guess you are paying for the quality " my voice just went up a few octives just typing that 🤣🤣🤣
Check out the RE320... great tone. very similar to the RE20. I love mine!!
you need to make more videos about your business travels
Thanks for the tip !!!

Kragatar that’s the dream. Except make it an Airstream and call me Max Fenig, and make me a member of NICAAP.
Thank you

Hi, I am going to steal a content about some famous RUclipsr and express it my own.
Respectfully I passed as soon as heard the words “Apple fanboy”
I don’t believe in paying for a $1000+ laptop that doesn’t have good reviews or a reputation.
True.
Bald eagles are going to go extinct in like 10 years so yeah.
First
