    I just upgraded to a 5600 from an i5 4590. I wanted to go 7 series, but for budget builds it doesn't make any sense. You can get a CPU, motherboard and RAM for just the price of the 7600x ($300). I needed a new mobo and RAM for the 5600 but after selling my old stuff it only cost me about $150 to upgrade. It's significantly faster, and with a lower TDP.

    The ryzen 5 5600G boosted my old system so hard+ safed me about 300 bucks with the Internal GPU when GPU prizes were totally crazy. + It worked well on a b450 board after a bios update. Even with a proper GPU its still nice to know you'll always have an internal GPU to crashtest your system when something is wrong. Now I have a 6700XT Eagle (475 bucks), 16 GB Rams @3600MHz (on AMDs support list) and can play all Games on 1440p highest settings (even with raytracing 40 fps, cyberpunk,control etc).
    When I think of AMD those words pop up: cheap, strong performance, long lasting, great value. And it hasnt changed since my early teen years when I started building PCs.

  • @Synthacon7
    @Synthacon7 Год назад +7

    You're right about how performance has increased so much in the last few years to the point this thing can be considered a budget cpu. With the new AMD and intel platforms I believe AM4 is the best platform in terms of value.
    I got the 5600 for $140 and AMD GPUs are also a great value if you're not interesed that much in ray tracing and focus more on playing games. I'm pretty happy with my system and for what I considered was a reasonable price.

Went from 16GB DDR3 2400mhz to 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz as well. Using higher settings now and it’s staying at 100fps+ where as before it would drop to 40-60fps with the i7-4770 on a 3440x1440 monitor.

    I bought two 5600's to pair with two RX6800's. 5600 is 90% of a 5800X3D. I wouldn't worry about a 5800X3D unless you think you will find and buy a cheap 3090 and up in the future. Top tier cards do depreciate, but not that fast, and are usually giving mid tier performance by the time they are mid tier price. RX6800 will also work fine on a PCIE3 board because it's X16 and has a wide memory bus, no need to upgrade for most.

I am thinking about ordering the CPU because I'm running games that would put too much stress on my old R3 1200, games such as Command Modern Operations and Total war titles, Is 5600 going to be fine or should I rather look towards 5700x?

    • @DannysTechChannel
      @DannysTechChannel  Год назад +2

      Both are great options. If you think you might need the extra cores and threads, go for the 5700x. It’s a very good price right now. But when it comes to gaming, you won’t see much of an increase. Even at 1080p as you saw unless you’re running a high-end GPU

    i thumbed this video up not because you failed to mention how the human eye/brain can REALLY only "perceive" so many fps(30)... but your delivery was spot-on because that processor is the best bang for your buck right now. NO NEED to get the "X" series for overclocking! WHY would anyone buy an "X series" (no cooler included) processor so we could spent ANOTHER $100+ on a cooler so we could OVERCLOCK a CPU to get better than 60? (upper/lower field)... yeah! well done. This CPU rocks. GET IT if you can afford it. It rocks "out of the box" with NO overclocking. If you suck at a game that runs 60fps blame your ISP for the lag, not your cpu/gpu.

      If that's the case i guess i could just buy the cpu and test it myself if it works or not right? It would be cheaper than building a new system. I think the system will be gpu bottlenecked with a ryzen 5 5600 anyways but i don't know how much the ram speed (2400mhz) will specifically affect the cpu. I agree, I bought two 5600's. I also bought the 1600AF in 2019 for $85. I tried the AF with my RX6800 before building with the 5600 / B550 Tomahawk and some 3600 CL16 ram and the 1600AF@3.9GHZ only gave up 20 frames at 1080P, that my 165hz monitor couldn't even display.

      You could try it if you wanted to mess with timings, but I’m pretty sure my kit couldn’t do an overclock like that with such tight timings. Maybe 3600 with CL 18

    • @robertkubrick3738

      Start at CL14 and work your way up. CL14 is smooth, you don't add many fps per 100 m/ts over 3200.

      No. It’s an inferior CPU by quite a bit. Even though it shares the 5000 naming it doesn’t have features like PCIe 4.0 and increased L3 cache size. I’d spend the extra few dollars and go with the 5600. They are very cheap right now

    The whole thing including the keyboard, mouse a 1080p monitor etc cost me a slight below $900. And it can play everything on ultra. I can do daily tasks with no problem. I think the only thing I didn't cheap out was on storage. Got a Samsung NVMe 1 TB SSD. Nothing else. But it was totally worth it. I am honestly in love with my set-up.
