I certainly enjoyed the video. Never seen such a wool painting before. It’s lovely. I can imagine the hurting in your hands. Why not teach your husband also😉👍.
It's gorgeous! Don't try to fool us with that "I'm not an artist" bit. You most definitely are a wool artist, both 3D and 2D. I hope your in-laws appreciated it.
You do yourself a huge disservice when you say you aren’t artistic. All the things that you mentioned, looking at shading, looking at perspective, looking at the color levels and mixes, those are all artistic things. You are artistic. Being artistic is not defined by whether you can draw freehand or not. As a 2-D Felter, I can tell you that what you made is very lovely and definitely beyond just a beginner level.
Thank you, that is very kind, I am now doing another felt from this book and she really leads you through all of that and it really helps. I guess some parts are intuitive but I much prefer this to trying to draw or paint 😃, thank you for such a lovely comment ❣️ x
@@feltsbyphilippa it is also my favorite book, and I am signed up to do an in person workshop with Jaana in Asheville NC in April, and I am very excited.
WOW, I never knew that felting could be so versatile. Your version of this beach and sky is really amazing. I love the little light house. Now I want to tell you something very important. You Are An ARTIST, in every official and unofficial explanation out there. It's easier to just say, "anything made by a the human hand from wood working, sewing, cooking special dishes, crochet, embroidery, painting etc. is absolutely an artist". That's you, an Artist. I love you're video's an you're very clear explanations. Thank you so very much.
Ahh, thank you so much, that's very kind of you, I think the light house finished the picture off. My 2d felts are early days but the book is super helpful for perspective and colour ways, thanks so much for watching and making such a lovely comment ❣️ x
That came out really lovely. I like the sun in particular. The bedroom is very pretty - love the purples. I agree with others that you are artistic. I used to hesitate to call myself an artist but if you are creating something, whether it's a poem, short story, painting, quilt, etc., you are artistic!
Thank you, I still can't draw and am rubbish with perspectives and depth but the book really helped. Thanks for watching and making such a kind comment xx
You did a good job, it's lovely. I thought you might have wet felted it. Whether or not you can paint doesn't determine your artistic ability, you are a felt artist.
You did an amazing job. I think a good piece of art is when you enjoy looking at it for long periods of time. I can let my mind drift away while looking at your work. Bravo!
Hi Philippa, you are more of an artist than you give yourself credit for 🤗. I have recently done a couple of 2D felts that I am quite proud of and am inspired to do some as gifts. My daughter , who lives in Australia is now watching your videos so you are inspiring both mum and daughter , thank you xxx💐🌻
Oh wow, how lovely, thank you for recommending me to her. The book definitely really helped me and I am enjoying 2d felts plus they are great as gifts as you mentioned xx
Thank you, Pippa. I recently purchased Moi Mackay’s “Felt and Stitch” book, which is lovely but a little more wet felting than I’d hoped. I think this one looks more my speed. Will be adding it to my collection soon! Your 2D painting came out lovely!
Hi Jill, yes, I really like this book, I have that other one too now (Mother's Day present) and it does wet felt the pictures. This one doesn't and she really leads you through, I'm adapting her picture but already I can see improvement. Hope you are well and thanks for watching ❣️
This fantastic Pippa and you are much too hard on yourself. You are an artist and with your videos you also inspire others. That book looks really good, I think I feel a purchase coming on!"🤣
Oh my goodness, this is fantastic! I have that book and find it intimidating, once again, you’ve fixed that problem. Thank you ❤❤. The room is beautiful and the picture is just perfect in there. I hope your in-laws are happy with it 😀.
Thank you! Gosh definitely try the book, she has some great tutorials but I know you have been busy. I'm on my second one and my sky and trees are better so it's a good book xx
It looks amazing! I have started using double sided carpet tape for mounting my 2d pieces, it works really well and was a tip given to me by someone who sells their work, it allows the frame to be changed if something happens to it or want another one a little easier than using glue does, but I agree glue works well and your picture is awesome 😊
Lovely! I just received Mattson's book and am blown away by how beautiful it is and the possibility that I, another non-artistic felter, can create something wonderful. I appreciate the detailed information about framing, as well. New sub.
This is spooky. I've been umming and ahhing over this book for a couple of weeks now trying to decide whether to buy it or not. Now I will. Your picture is fabulous and looks perfect in the spare room 😊
This looks amazing! I understand what you mean. Whenever I draw it comes out terrible, but somehow 2d felting is much easier and looks much nicer! When I 2d felt I like to flip it over and trim the extra wool on the back. Do you do that too or do you recommend leaving it as is? Thank you so much for all the tutorials and tips! Love your videos so much! I hope you have a wonderful day!
Thank you, I personally leave it as is and it fits in the frame just fine. Yes, wool seems so forgiving and much easier than paints, glad you like the channel ❣️x
@@feltsbyphilippa Well..... right now it's just a dream because: 1) that's a lot of felt and will cost a ton of $ and 2) I'm looking for a more suitable place to live; so it's best to wait and size it for the new place But it's still a dream worth dreaming!!! 😁👍
Interesting I always heard that nearer things needed to be darker. Thanks for the tutorial..makes it seems more doable with the blends! Your spare bedeoom has an amazing view! So for materials, the base should be some squares of felt?
Yes, 100% wool felt is best or two layers of prefelt will work. As you can tell, I am no artist so you are probably more correct than me on the colours! 😂, thanks for watching xx
Thank you, so I use either two pieces of prefelt or one piece of 100% wool, it depends on what I have lying around. With the prefelt it stretches so two pieces keeps it together. With the pure wool, it's a lot firmer and when you felt it down a fine needle might be needed, say a 40 to actually pierce the wool through xx
Im about to start needle felting since i wm unable to do any physical hobbies anymore sadly. My favorite animal is a stingray but i just cannot manage to find any tutorials anywhere for making one out of needle felt. I was wondering if you could make a tutorial of one for me?
"I'm not an artist" 😅 Oh give me peace! Have you heard yourself talk about color, shading, highlights and shadows??? Girl, you're most definitely an artist!
I certainly enjoyed the video. Never seen such a wool painting before. It’s lovely. I can imagine the hurting in your hands. Why not teach your husband also😉👍.
Maybe I should, thanks for watching xx

Yes, do another one in between cooking, cleaning, needlefelting, making videos, walking the dogs and looking after the family😂😂😉
Exactly 😆xx
