I recently had a most pleasant visit at beautiful Glomus and was able to interview Raven who is leaving Glomus to start organizing a new commune in New England. He also interviewed me, which can be found at: communelifeblog.wordpress.com I am continuing to work on the final "membership debrief" videos and will publish them sometime this year (busy busy with other things in the summertime).
I keep thinking that while EW and TO have been there a long time, very few MEMBERs stay a long time. Not only the founders dont stay long, but most people dont. I'm not sure what that means exactly. also when he was talking about this being a small systems approach - i mean, it was kinda modeled after kibbutz, right? Which have mostly closed or become commercial? I think? anyways, interesting!
Yes, turnover is a part of life in these communities, it seems. Perhaps due to most people coming in being in their wanderlust years?? We talked over turnover as being a constant (at all stages of community development), but it didn't end up in the final cut. I'm not sure if Raven is thinking of kibbutz in this context of small systems, but he may possibly respond here. I am not familiar with how the still existing kibbutz operate, but I know there are a number of successful large food operations. Good to hear from you, Cara! =)

Was he at EW? Fantastic interview!
Raven has never been a member at EW, but he has visited. I never knew you had content on RUclips, Esslie. Love the little radio ad from '13, haha!
@@EastWindCommunity1973 oh my gosh. Lol that was for a college class!
There was an older guy at EW fixing an electrical issue when I was there once 🙂
A comment below says Raven never lived at East Wind? I am confused!
Ah dang! Love the energy, but we're looking to make community in Northern AZ!
Please tell me how to contact you, I want to chat if you like...
My comment appears to have been deleted? Why?
I'm not sure, I can still see some of the text, but I am unable to respond to it. Was not removed by me.
