- Once the BitLocker recovery key is generated, you should save it to your partition drive or SSD immediately. It can be used to unlock your encrypted drive if you forget or lose your BitLocker passwords.
How to find out your Windows OS drive in the Windows Recovery Environment?

Open the command prompt window and Run As Administrator
Type the following commands:
manage-bde -unlock D: -rp (BitLocker recovery key)

Note: D is the bootable drive letter in this case.

What if you bought a computer from a pawn shop and cannot get the bitlocker turned off? No key, no nothing because the password that was given was wrote down incorrectly.
It worked for me. My laptop is from HP but I bought it with Win11 built in, plus my disk blocked. I didn’t knew it until I tried to install Win10. Installation window was saying that my disk was inaccessible or something like that, I wasn’t able to do anything with it. Before finding this video I saved the recovery key from control panel (totally by accident😂), because that was the only thing appearing in there when typing BitLocker. Then in bios in boot menu I disabled "secured boot" and cleared all the keys. Then I miraculously found this video and took the instructions in this video and then proceeded to Windows installation again and boom worked smooth like butter on a pan. Big thank you. (2022)

Para remover o bitlocker você não tinha nem a senha e nem a chave de segurança e mesmo assim conseguiu acessar o HD vendo esse vídeo ? Se sim o bitlocker não adianta se nada então.
@@jackson35bmx Eu tinha a chave de segurança, que pode ser adquirida no Site da Microsoft. O problema é que mesmo com a chave se eu tentasse remover o Bitlocker ele não saia de forma alguma.
Por exemplo, ao alterar a quantidade de núcleos a serem utilizados no Notebook uma mensagem de "Restrição BitLocker" era emitida, informando que devido à mudança que estava sendo feita, somente seria possível acessar o dispositivo com a chave BitLocker.
Então eu pensei, "Bom, é só inserir a senha uma só vez e depois fica tudo certo!" Para a minha infelicidade, esse pensamento estava completamente errado. Toda vez que eu realizava o acesso no Notebook ele requisitada a Senha/Chave, até que chegou um ponto em que o "PIN" que eu havia colocado no computador, sumiu. Após isso, a Senha/Chave que eu inseria, dizia estar "incorreta", sendo que em nenhum momento eu havia alterado ela. Dito isso, perdi acesso a máquina e só consegui recuperar quando formatei com os dados de fábrica.
Daí, como informado anteriormente, somente depois de 2 anos, que foi quando eu achei esse vídeo, eu consegui remover de vez à Criptografia BitLocker.
Respondendo sua pergunta, o BitLocker tem sim sua função. Se você tentar alterar algo na Máquina, que mexa de alguma forma com a funcionalidade padrão atribuída à ela, o BitLocker Criptografa completamente a unidade, fazendo com que externos não consigam acesso sem que tenham em posse a Senha/Chave para desbloqueio.
Se eu quiser por exemplo, mudar todas as configurações possíveis e depois Criptografar novamente a unidade, eu posso e é até melhor fazer isso. A questão é que eu não ligo para o acesso dos terceiros, como meu Notebook fica vinculado somente em Redes Privadas, é bem difícil que alguém tenha acesso. E se eu ativar o BitLocker, toda mudança que eu fizer, eu terei que repetir o processo de Descriptografar e Criptografar.
Por isso eu escolhi retirar! Mas se você for utilizar redes públicas, é até melhor você ter BitLocker, ele não inibi, porém, previne.
@@ismaelchristian_ Entendi obrigado pelo retorno. Também vie outro vídeo que o cara tirou o SSD para colocar no note novo que tem o PIN(e-mail Microsoft) para acessar o esse note novo. E do nada o SSD ficou com o bitlocker. Ele não sabe o motivo de isso ter acontecido,as ele fez uma pesquisa na Net e viu que a Microsoft libera as chaves de segurança para cada partição relacionado a conta vinculado no note que ele estava usando.

Então, no caso. Esse vídeo te ensina a remover o BitLocker de qualquer Unidade de Armazenamento. Contanto que o sistema seja Windows, a versão não importa.
BitLocker, nada mais é do que uma Criptografia de Unidade de Armazenamento, em suma, localizada no SO.

You don't need to do that in CMD, you can do it in windows when you click on the unit blocked.
Impossible because the whole operating system is totally locked and all drives are locked either, and I can't access anything ever never.
Don't be selective answer all questions if you don't have the bitlocker key stored somewhere what do you do?

Used the command prompt to format c: to disable bitlocker. And then used the command prompt to run setup.exe on a USB with windows installer on it. Then installed drivers. Worked
Formatting erases all data on that drive. Some people like me do not want that.
@@Chikicus if you dont have your bitlocker key, you dont have any other option than format your device with a bootable usb. You just cant recover your files without it or even reset your system with WinRE

That is because the dip sh*t acted like he recovered the key. He had a text file on a USB drive which he pasted in using command prompt. Sorry ass sh*t.

Hacking when you have a key pfff, try open it without one like in dell laptop after some bios update bit locker just ask for key :P and it was possible by downgrading bios to older version.

That is exactly my issue as well. This happened after the latest windows update and now I am stuck. I never got a bit locker key so I certainly don’t know how to access it. load hive is grayed out and is not an option for me. If you see number/letter, it is an identification of BitLocker recovery key. It is not BitLocker Recovery Key.

Step 1 In Bios Go to boot options, and then select secure boot to disable . You save it and exit Bios.
Step 2 In Bios Go to boot options again, change secure boot to enabled , clear all secure boot keys, remember to load your envy hp laptop to factory default . You save it and exit Bios

If you login via email, so all computers were registered under Microsoft accounts and Bitlocker recovery key will be available on their Server.

Sometimes, it may be your SSD issues, you can do this command
chkdsk /f c: to fix the problem, but your OS drive may be different drive letter in Windows Recovery Options.
if you don't know about bitlocker (most don't when buying a laptop) then you're screwed because obviously noone saves there bitlocker keys be cause its newer. windows is trash, linux has way less headaches, gives more control, performance etc. doesn't have t5ons of bloatware, like who needs garbage like my laptop senses i'm i n the room.

Hey Snapshots, I dont remember having set a bitlocker key and I set my Surface Pro 6 myself. I also logged in to Microsoft account but it says the bitlocker key is not saved on this account. I tried to disable security boot in BIOS and also turned off TPM. It still shows the same screen for bitlocker after restarting. I have literally tried every troubleshooting. So what to do when you have no idea what a bitlocker is or where the number is saved. Ive nevrr heard of it. I tried to do a Lenovo prompted update and now i cant use my laptop. Searched microsoft account and nothing in there. I'm screwed 😔
1. Try to get into the Windows recovery options via a bootable Windows (USB).
2. In the Windows Recovery Options menu, click Troubleshoot, and then click Advanced Options.
Click Uninstall Updates.
3. Restart your PC
This just happened to me today after installing updates. And this is why I don't install updates. Garbage!! Lenovo Yoga C940 Trash!!
@@johnnyappleseedz422 yea I have a very similar but slightly older model. It was top of the range at the time.. it just got wiped and had to re install windows. There is no work around despite what you might see on RUclips. If you don't have the bitlocker number saved or the Microsoft account it's linked to you're screwed. I found 2 Microsoft accounts but neither were linked or had the number saved. I also had never heard of it and when I got my laptop back after Windows being freshly installed I asked the technician to show me where to find the bit locker number. 2 guys couldn't find it and then said it doesn't come on Windows Home only pro. But I only ever had Home and not Pro so I have no idea where this thing came from. I think it's more sabotage from Microsoft than anything else. Their customer service is appalling and not even worth the phone call. Useless. Goodluck mate but you'll probably need to do a reinstall.

@@Raimi.123 sorry to say it mate but you are screwed if you don't have bitlocker written down or backed up somewhere. After all my efforts and the technicians I took it to they knew of no work around and so I had a total factory re set. Its absolute bullshit what happens. I did a lenovo prompted update and got locked out of my own laptop. No one knew how it got there, I never heard of it, no back up no anything.. just gone. Left with more questions unanswered than answered. A complete joke if you ask me! Sorry mate.

Then click on load hive, it should work

Unfortunately It didn't work for me. I have a surface laptop 2 that has been locked for quite some time. I would like to format it and reinstall windows 10 from scratch. With your method I could unlock c: (i have the recovery Key) but once I want to turn bitlocker off (manage-bde -off c:) it says that "The media is write protected", do you know any other alternatives to fix it? Try this out
Type diskpart in the Command Prompt window and hit Enter.
Type list disk and hit Enter to view the available disks.
Type select disk ? That you want and hit Enter
Type attributes disk clear readonly and hit Enter.
type exit

are you running the Diskpart application as an administrator?
@@SnapshotTechTips I believe so. At the top of the command prompt says Administrator: X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe. As soon as the laptops starts it asks me to put the recovery key, if i do so, it tries to load windows but gets to a point that gets frozen. If I do not enter the recovery key at the beginning, it takes me to the screen where I can click on troubleshoot and the rest. I refuse to believe that there is no way to format this laptop and reinstall windows. It's not your problem, but thank you for trying to help me
@@SnapshotTechTips Apparently there are two Key Protectors that I have on the laptop: Numerical Password and TPM

Unfortunately I am not able to get in my laptop because I don't have a recovery key. I looked at my Microsoft account and there wasn't 1 setup. I have tried everything even the command prompt thing it was the farthest I've gone but still won't work. Is there anything else I can try? Please help me. Thank you in advance

You can format your hard disk, but you will lose all data, and also you can do a clean windows installation if you got a bootable windows usb.
BitLocker is too complicated, if you don’t know well, it is better, you don’t use it.

If you don’t turn on , you don’t have BitLocker Recovery Key. It is simple like that

If you use a standard usb flash drive without encryption, it must be visible there or else try to plug into a different usb port.

@@miamigurumi I fixed it by just restarting the hard drive through cmd prompt and then reinstalling windows with a windows 10 bootable usb. It restarted my whole computer but now I can use it so yea
