I had always shied away from Double Wear (OG), as it had this aura of being ultra thick and a velvety matte in finish, but I stand corrected. The coverage and finish is GORGEOUS! There is still a very natural luminous finish to it. Im going to be purchasing this next. This was a very well done video, showing the differences, in great detail.
I loved the Double Wear sheer on you. It is minimal and pretty, exactly the kind of make up style I personally love. Also, same as you, I used to lovingly compare double wear as face concrete. It doesn’t budge!
Great review. I have worn other foundations over the past year and I find nothing compares to Estée Lauder double wear. It’s my favorite. Great review.

Great review!!! I have been wearing the Futuristic Hydra Moisturizing Foundation for a while now and I LOVE it! For as light weight as it is, it gives me a nice natural look but evens out my skin. It lasts ALL day and doesn't crease or emphasize my pores. I have mature combo skin.
Would love to hear a comparison of the DW sheer vs Chanel Water Fresh tint. Great review overall and I'm seriously considering purchasing the DW sheer after this.
This was a great comparison video! I have the DW Stay in Place but it started making my skin look very dry. I love the way the Futurist Hydra Rescue looks on you so I’ll need to give it a try!
I'm so happy you demo'd EL Foundations. I'm a big EL fan, skincare, color, and I also wear 3N1. Love their radiant concealer, eyeshadows, lipsticks too. I used to wear EL Perfectionist but had to switch to Futurist Hydra as Perfectionist was discontinued. I loved that foundation. I also bought EL Renutriv Foundation, their newest version, love that too. Even though I love EL, my collection does now include Chanel, Dior, bits of Guerlain, TF, ND minis and midis, CT Pillow Talk.
The coverage still looks great.
I’ve been using the Futurist Hydra Rescue in my summer rotation and love it! It’s not too sheer and not full coverage. It gives the perfect amount of coverage and feels light on the skin. I hope you try it all over your face and love it. 😊❤️

I’ve never been able to make double wear work for me. No matter how many ways I’ve tried. It always looks horrible on me. Hydra rescue is beautiful and my favorite. Love the concealer too.

After watching this I’m leaning towards the Futurist Hydra Rescue. I purchased the original double wear foundation but the color match was off, too light. Normally I prefer more medium to full coverage but had to mix it with the NARS serum foundation which was too dark. My ordering on line during COVID has been less than desirable. Anyway, the combination of the two was so beautiful which is why the Futurist sounds perfect for me. Thanks for your detailed review of these!💖
Great review! Double Wear is a fantastic formula. I have two bottles of Double Wear longwear because I find that the shades for medium to darker brown-skinned women aren't the best. I'm still looking for my best shade.

I’m 50 and a tinted moisturizer girl about 90% of the time, but I’ve been looking for a foundation that’s mid way between tinted moisturizer and full coverage. I will have to check out that radiant foundation. Hmmmmmm….educational as always! Thank you!

The only EL foundations my skin could handle was the EE cream, the double wear cushion stick foundation, and they both were discontinued. But! I've tried the futurist hydra rescue, and loooove it! one of my go to's now.
I loveeeee the original, I like the futurist ok, still haven't tried the sheer yet! I use the original DW mostly as a mixer with other base products to provide a tiny bit more coverage and staying power.
EL futurist hydra rescue is my fave. I’ve tried them all and they definitely all have their purpose! I like them all! Thanks for a great vid!

I am a Estée Lauder foundation and concealer girl all the way. I try a lot of new stuff, but always come back to EL. I’m devastated they discontinued the DW Light. I would wear that year round, but the lightest shade in the DWL matched my summer skin tone. I like the Futurist, I wear it when my skin is dry because it’s moisturizing. It is not mask proof though, I always have some foundation wear from my chin and nose. I’m so committed to the original DW that I have it in 4 shades and it’s been a standby that I haven’t been without for the past 18 years. I have other foundations, but I can always count on DW to hold up to 16hr work days without any breakdown. I have worked a few 36 hour shifts, and my skin still looked amazing, I however, felt like crap.
I personally own Estée Lauder Future Hydra Rescue foundation. This is the one Erin, it looked the best and I’m not surprised hehe. I will be the first to say that I own so many bottles of foundations and had to throw some out. But this, this is one of the few where I had to repurchase a second tube because I just love the finish and coverage I need and I feel like on no makeup makeup days, it still achieves the natural glass like finish I need for my dry tight skin. This foundation definitely was my favorite for the winter time! It makes me so happy you picked up one of my HG favs ❤️❤️❤️

I have dry more mature skin and I love the Futurist Hydra Rescue foundation. I wore the Futurist when it was in liquid form and they discontinued it. It was my "holy grail" and was so sad to see it go, luckily I had about 2 or 3 backup bottles and was relieved when this one in the tube came out!! I think they all looked really good on you and yes, I agree there is a place for the lighter no makeup look!! Thank you for sharing these 3 with us and have a great weekend!!

EL double wear is my HG! It’s fantastic-the best long wearing foundation! I’ve tired the futurist which is nice but for my combo skin can be a little too dewy some days.
That's what I'm thinking about myself as well, I still can get oily in my t-zone so we will have to see how it goes all over the face. I'm so impressed with the original double wear, I'm so glad I revisited! xx
Oh praise be, using your fingers! I am anti foundation brushes or blenders. I think the warmth of your hands, & using a pressing motion works so well for applying foundation. I always feel I waste so much product when I use something other than my fingers. I use applicators as finishers for buffing and blending. As always great review!
Fingers are definitely best in this case! I think it's habit for me to use brushes but you are right, it does waste some of the product! xx

Hello…could I mix the sheer formula with the radiant DW to create a hybrid? I know certain formulas do not mix well…the water vs oil base issues. Any thoughts?

Hi Erin! I got on the LF website to get the Sheer Long wear spf 19 but the picture is not the same as yours! The one on the website says SHEER MATTE, is it the same one? Yours doesn’t say Matte on the bottle.

Oh I forgot to compliment you on those wildly gorgeous earrings! They hark back to the legendary Elsa Schiaparelli's 'watermelon collection' of costume jewellery from the 1950's, that vintage prismatic/hologramatic effect. A necklace like this was also worn by Carrie in Sex and the City in a couple of older episodes of the show. I wonder if her necklace was original though? Anyhow, LOOOOOVE. I've tried several of the luxury foundations and while they are nice, they don't cover my melasma spots like the Double Wear does. There is no need to spot correct with it. I also have the Futurist and do like it, but it is a little too much for me in the summer as I have mature skin. I'm glad you reviewed this foundation as they have the most inclusive shade range for all skin types with Lancome a very close second. I like you in the sheer formula--so natural.
It has been years since I've worn Estee Lauder foundations but wow, after this video I feel like I've been missing out! I really loved all three and I will be wearing them all in my rotation xx

Haha, it's always been true here in the UK too: almost everyone on the cosmetics floor wore Estee Lauder's Doublewear and it didn't matter what high end beauty or skincare counter they worked on, they always chose this foundation. There are so many hyped foundations out there that I would have dearly loved to have test run over the past few years, figuring that as I age there may be something far more suitable for my changing skin, but Erin I will never know if my own holy grail is out there for one infuriating reason:
These companies don't do samples.
I passionately wanted to see if colour and finish in the following foundations would be superior to Doublewear: Armani, Pat McGrath, Bobbi Brown, Charlotte Tilbury, Laura Mercier, Sisley, Cle de Peau, Kryolan, Tom Ford, Dermablend, Shiseido...etc. Armani, McGrath and Tilbury in particular were top of my list, alas...:(
It actually angers me to think of. The single most important make up item in any woman's bag and these idiotic tightwads leave us all during the pandemic to just waste money on guessing. Matching the colour in store is one thing but the single most important factor in foundation is the FINISH; does it make my skin look cakey and obviously covered, or does it blend in and look silky smooth? If I can't apply it properly myself over my whole face and inspect it after a few hours of wear then I am simply not willing to fork out over 40 GBP for a bottle of high end foundation that may end up totally ruining my entire painted face so to speak. Doesn't matter how perfectly I've applied my lashes and liner if my skin looks awful. How on Earth do these companies aim to avoid product returns and complaints if they can't be bothered to give out little recyclable 'buttons' containing samples or even a little snap-off vial (like the ones you get individual eye drops in). It can't be that expensive and if they need to, they can control who they give them out to...perhaps only giving them out after a sit-down consultation etc. I think I'm destined to remain using Doublewear until I'm a wrinkly old lady (if I'm privileged to live to healthy old age, that is ;)). Thank you so much for reviewing this, I may consider this formula for the coming mask-free summer. It's a FANTASTIC foundation.

I know the masks make it tricky... I'm a full time creator so most days I don't leave the house but when I do it's a nightmare for my skin :/ xx

I love the original Double Wear and the Double Wear Sheer. I cannot tolerate the smell of the Hydra Rescue.
You need eye color correction under your eye before concealer. It’ll help a lot.

Good Morning Erin! I will ALWAYS love my Double Wear. It's the absolute perfect shade for me-which makes it all the more awesome. Sometimes I add a few drops of oil to sheer it out and add moisture. I'm tempted to buy the Hydra but if the colors aren't the same as double wear, I would know what color to buy. P.S. I would love to see your sunglasses collection 😎

I’ve read some reviews that mentioned dry skin people might not like the light tint version, as they might not do well with the mattifying aspect….true?
Hhmmm hard to say from my experience as my skin isn't dry but I didn't find it to be that mattifying. It's so light, you can't really see it sitting on the skin. It's definitely worth trying a sample! xx

Hi Tiffany. I too have very dry and sensitive skin and because I wear their foundations mostly, I tried this and it is very nice on. I still get a nice glow and don’t feel dry at all. Hope that helps you.

I hope you like it. I’m always hesitant to recommend products. I usually wear EL Renutriv and I’ve tried many Chanel, Dior and other foundations and always come back to EL. I tried this since I wanted something light with spf to put on for quick errands. Since the Retuniv is so much more expensive, I don’t go through it as quickly. 😀

Is DW hydrating the DW light? That one is being discontinued sadly but I think the original double wear vs les beiges, DW definitely wins for lasting power! xx

I hate they replaced the double wear light with such a sheer no coverage foundation. Should be called tinted moisturizer.
I have yet to try the hydra. I’m a medium to full coverage type of girl. Been using double wear for years now. I use the wear the LIGHT when traveling to humid places cause it didn’t feel heavy on your skin but had nice coverage and stayed on all day.
