It's amazing how the tonality change can make sound this masterpiece like a new song to me... We are used to the E standard tuning and that's why when we here a different tuning we think is better...
Metallica was probably the most famous metal band that used standard E tuning, most thrash/glam/power metal bands especially in the mid to late 80s used E flat tuning
if you have a computer, check your volume settings and click enhancements. You should find a pitch shift option; use music theory on this one:the pitch is half a step down. I like this sound.
Wrong. The original recording is recorded in E standard but not at A=440 Hz but at A=444/5 The original is recorded at a slightly higher pitch than standard so when you tune the song down by a semitone you'll still have the same difference.
It's a little known fact that on the early records the songs where played slower than actual record tempo and sped up in post. Also it was played at something like 1/4 step down which is why it won't sound exactly like the record if you play along
ThepoweroftheWEED ! I’d love to play in Eb more, but my guitar doesn’t stay in tune when I have it in Eb for some reason. D standard is fine. E standard is fine. I’m not sure what the isaue
Yeah it's slightly sharp like the album is, I usually just use the intro and tune my g to the open g of the acoustic in the intro and go tune my guitar off that and it helps, alot
e flat is a thing of beauty
Facts
sometimes D Standard can be also.
Yes it sure is. Angel of Death is such a beautiful song 😀
Yes
Best key ever
idk about you guys but im just too lazy to tune back down to standard ._.
I'm too lazy to tune back UP to standard... That's how lazy I am
Nah bruh everyone knows that e standard is almost an entire octave below this
@@justinnelson9905 no it’s not

Crazy how a semi tone can make an already sad song sadder
Ah I love the sound of this. Glad they picked this up as the tuning for the live shows
They play in Standard D nowadays
@@mrtiesthatbind these days yeah, but for the longest time it was only a half step down
@@JackDiamond_FBOWI just watched a video it’s still in Eb live as of 2023. That said I did see them play Seek and Destroy in D standard back in 2009.
@@mrtiesthatbind no they dont... for some songs yeah... but they are def still in Eb for the songs that were originally recorded in E
@@2jsalomon all right then
this sounds soooo much better, fuller, more melodic and the harmony comes through...

I@75$@6$777t77.0.
I like the intro better in E but the distorted parts are better in Eb.
@@prometheustv6558 i like to play the introduction,in Eb ,it sounds better,to me 🙂
Honestly, I'm more used to hearing it in Eb cause they played it that way live for years.
Metallica was probably the most famous metal band that used standard E tuning, most thrash/glam/power metal bands especially in the mid to late 80s used E flat tuning
Metallica should've done what Slayer did after their first album and changed their tuning. Some songs sound really good half step down.
i prefer if they did the same as megadeth (e standard 1/4 step down)
@@DarkLabProductions they're the same bozo
Think about it,if it wasnt played in the first tuning they may have not came up with this at all..
Makes James voice deeper
And more metal
Yeah, since hetfields voice is deeper now they use this tuning in live shows
@@JackDiamond_FBOWthey actually use d standard
@@juanembzNo its Eb Standard
The guitar part behind the solo at the end(slidie thing) sounds killer

James Hetfield suits Eb perfectly
It was wonderful
i was plaything this earlier with chorus and delay, and it sounded beautiful
They play this song live in eb
no they don't.
+Mouaz Chikhani yes they do, they play all songs in Eb since 1995
+Eduardo Filacchione except sad but true
jake robert that one in Drop D right?
Eduardo - No just D, everything a whole step lower from E. (Sad but true)
I was looking for that, thank you !
Metallica's version of Turn the Page is already in Eb.
Do it in e for like the original of Bob Seger.
Musically masterful either way, but the I get the chills during the breakdown live every damn time.
This is real fucking music, Something that actually moves people deep in their heart, What a powerful song
So basically this is the live version?
Cyrekt Yep
I think yes, but with the studio version!
Kirk plays the outro solo differently but yeah
Without the whammy
Pretty much
This how I felt when my dog died
Sorry for your loss bro
Hope ur doing better now my man
God bless you and your dog.❤❤❤
This hits differently. I like it.
All songs in E standar tuning sound better in Eb. Now I know why metallica play in Eb tuning on live
Yeah, right, like many bands. But sounds incredible
Puedo sentir la agonía y la amargura del infierno en esta canción
= metal
Live version but it has no live vocals and it has Cliff in it
I would love to hear "Mama Said" in E Flat
But.... It already is
it already is
I'm pretty sure that was the joke
Matt200055 Or just D maybe
Hugo Ruiz it is d#
Better than the original.
can you do Seek and Destroy?
This song fits me at times
Can you do a version of Welcome Home (Sanitarium) in Fm?
@Holden Burke why you mean :(
Eventually this will be the song that I play while driving my car and it will be glorious
My depression in 7 minutes
U r so cool man
The solos sound like the live version
95 speed and it sounds like live show
Idk you can call this either Bb or Eb. This song is basically going back and forth with the 2
It’s Eb as in the guitar tuning. It’d be much lower at Bb
the intro is in Bbm and the verses are in G#m
Can u do ride the lightning next cos theres no eb versions
can you also do an eb of holier than thou
The intro sounds better half step down

Its sounds a lot more sader that the original one
My favourite guitar tuning

How they do it live
Peterpan Band - Fade To Black (2005 Musica Studio's)
the original is E standard at 446 hrtz
It's not e flat, it's a semitone down from the studio, which isn't e standard.
It’s close enough.
@@rowansvetlik9028 it's like saying jamming to the normal track in e standard is good enough. It's not, it's dissonant
This is the same tuning as sonata arcticas cover I think
Jason Newsted's final performance with Metallica till the HoF ceremony
I think this version is better than the original one.
-jizz-
The live version.
wish there was some way to edit out the "double voice"....(layered vocals)....
Well if you find the stems..
It sounds better with it idk why u want to take that out
Metallica in the 80s and 90s: E standard tuning
Metallica since the 2010s: Eb tuning.
Metallica has played Eb live since 1995

Turn the page in Eb ?
Turn the page is in eb

E Standard at 425Hz. Matches Perfectly. Not "half step down"
thats the version they play live
it rocks in my opine
This isn't e flat, just slowed down. Tune to e flat and try to play along...
bullshit
Wrong. The original recording is recorded in E standard but not at A=440 Hz but at A=444/5
The original is recorded at a slightly higher pitch than standard so when you tune the song down by a semitone you'll still have the same difference.
Sounds the exact fucking same to me man 😂.
this is the actually live version
Uuuuh, good but i preffer the original
E flat > standard
my intonation is good and this sounds out of tune still
It's a little known fact that on the early records the songs where played slower than actual record tempo and sped up in post. Also it was played at something like 1/4 step down which is why it won't sound exactly like the record if you play along
Its out of tune. Its like 11 cents off so if youre in e flat itll sound like shit to play with it. Youll have to tune to the song.
lmao i thought i was going crazy
FACTS
If you think that e-standard version is better, you're just a lazy guitarist who is too lazy to tune the guitar down
But also a great way of playing
