@@unromanoarecareanaveragero8275 the original S&M version of this was emotionalllll. I’m fairly sure it was half step down and the orchestra fills the song so well
Vocals are very high in the song, so they play it in D. They also do this for other songs from KEA but I'm sure exactly which ones. I know they play Jump In The Fire in D.
I actually prefer this over the original. I also love how drums come at the second verse. It makes them more impactful. That gave me chills when I listened to it for the first time. Damn
Fixxxer, The Unforgiven Trilogy, To Live Is To Die, Until It Sleeps, Nothing Else Matters, and Fade To Black are the most emotional Metallica songs imo
THANK YOU! Being a baritone singer myself, this fits my vocal range perfectly while the original goes just a bit too high at times. I'm going to be singing to this a lot.
yeah but some songs just don't sound the same live as they do in the studio recordings. sure its the same riffs same vocals and all but some people prefer to hear the vocals of the studio recording compared to a live concert.
One main reason that I buy concert tickets is for the "live experience" (not the "record experience ' that i've heard hundreds of times already. Secondly, this song is 26 years old (Hetfield is now 54), and naturally as singers age, they either can't hit the high notes anymore or they have to really push to get there. Singing a half step lower sounds just as great as the original.
@Kastytis Jarutis I think what he means is it was edited from the studio version so that not only was it detuned to E-flat but also removed the drums from the first verse and chorus so that the drums don't start until the second verse, so this version is now the same way as they play it live
I think this song sounds a lot better in this tuning. For me, E minor (the original key of the song) should be used for serious songs, and Eb minor should be used for emotional songs such as this one. In fact, I think the whole Black Album should have been recorded in Eb.
@DeatrusTV I think he separated the audio tracks; for the drum track, he muted all that came before the second verse. I can still hear it faintly though, but that's probably because of the other audio tracks. Now that I've listened to it completely, judging by the ending this seems to the Guitar Hero version.
For all the people saying that thera are no drums in the first verse you are wrong, if you listen with a good headset carefully you should hear the drums very low like if they had been lowered.
ToniLivo that's because it's the actual vocal mic picking up the drums. if you've watched their official video you'd see they were recording the core of the song as a whole band. and the solo and all the layered vocals/guitars were added after the fact. which is really cool.
Damon Finegan Pretty sure that this is the only song that was recorded in parts, which might have something to do with Kirk Hammett not playing on the original recording.
This is awesome. Could you please make this one into a guitar backing track without vocals. I’m sure it will be used as a guitar backing track for gigs!!!
Yeah, I should've mentioned that James' voice wasn't like this sound. I didn't like it when James changed his voice. I personally loved his voice on records like The Black Album and before. I especially loved his voice and my favourite album "...And Justice for All.".
Kush- White Widow, Lemon Diesel, OG Kush, Green Crack, Lemon Skunk, and Blue Dream. Of course when I say "trip", I don't mean trip as in an Acid or a Shroom trip.
Much more emotional in half step, especially with the drums not coming in until the 2nd verse. Very powerful
I tune to Eb and use 10's (instead of 8's or 9's) so I can get huge string bends, plus it adds even more "beef" to the heavy LP tone. .
I agree it is more emotional in EB
Indeed.
That’s totally true. It almost made me cry, but it didn’t.
@@unromanoarecareanaveragero8275 the original S&M version of this was emotionalllll. I’m fairly sure it was half step down and the orchestra fills the song so well
Love the drums not being in at the start. Adds a new depths.
actually it can be heared, when you accidentally hear you cant stop hearing
Yep but it is very dim I could hear it but very very low
A majority of the songs live nowadays are in E-flat, but Seek and Destroy for some reason has been played in D since 2000.

But SEEK AND DESTROY returned to Eb since 2014...
I think Metallica will return it to standard E tuning soon....

they did it a couple times before live and i prefer that way more just cause there’s more emotion

Same man!
James Hetfield is himself quite a deep baritone. Just work on it and don't be afraid of the high notes
they're playing it in Eb in concerts
Yes, that's correct.
yeah but some songs just don't sound the same live as they do in the studio recordings. sure its the same riffs same vocals and all but some people prefer to hear the vocals of the studio recording compared to a live concert.
This can't happen because if James try to sing in every concert on E tunning this will fuck up his voice

Nick Kechris wrong bro, most of the live songs are in E flat, coming from a 15 year guitar player you can hear the tune difference believe me
so this is basically the live version

@Kastee They play songs a half step down nowadays. Unless it's from St. Anger
St. Anger is much better live
When your isolation comes too close to home. So rawly heartbreakingly beautiful and emotional,

He still lowered them a lot because he didn't want them to come in until second verse. So in principal it ain't there.
I reckon this is better than the original but this is like the live version. Wish it was released studio-wise
