So I Re-Tuned it in A-440....ENJOY!!!!
From "Ride", the following songs are not in 440:
3- "Bellz"
4- "Fade to Black"
7- "Creeping Death"

For all of you wondering, the original is actually in E half sharp. This is because A usually equals 440 hz and Bb usually equals 466 hz. The original is in 453 hz which is halfway in between! Super cool!

Halfway between 440 and 466 is 452.813427362749480558 Hz

Hi ! Yeah the original is tuned to A=453 Hz (very sharp) And fun fact : it was made in order to match the tuning of the anvil "bell" that's hit at the beginning of the song :D
I personnally prefer the original over the 440 Hz version, but both have a different feel :D
Here's my question - wasn't it easier to tune down the bells in the first place?! Lars' logic xD
@@Staminist-MMF-80 Probably not, since they didn't use bells. The sound you hear is an anvil.
If my memory is right, the producers sped up basically everything up until Ride The Lightning(the song) to make it have a tighter sound.
@@ry7xsfa872 Your argument is still invalid. Whatever is used (sampled) can be adjusted, be it an anvil or a bell.There is speed and then there is pitch, you mixed up the two.

Thanks for this... I play bass and RTL is one of my favorite albums to play along with, and since I only have one instrument it was annoying to retune or to play out of tune in these songs.

Good to hear a version that has actually BALLS instead of the original that sounds like a damn movie soundtrack. I mean, that one almost is in F, for crying out loud!
But i have to admit, this feels a tad "slow", so I see why they did what they did with the tapes back then.

What software did you use to change the tuning?
+Arjun Saxena Hi!! I used Audacity on some (freeware) + Sonar Home Studio 7 on others.
Audacity is free...it has a built in time thingy.....takes a lot of time to get the right pitch>
it just woun't do it for you.....Time...privacy and your ears is all you should need.

I playing enter sandman for my marching band and the band played in the key of A sharp so I had to tune sandman down from E standard to A sharp standard on a 6 string and shit was brutal.

The original is tuned slightly sharper, not much, but if you play along your guitar or bass will sound out of tune. I think it's A-444? Maybe?
Playing along with the studio album used to drive me crazy😂 tuned my guitar over and over again until I found out
