And one last word in terms of overheating. Both phones did not overheat in 28°C during all the shooting there. In general the high heat warning does appear quicker on the Xperia 1 IV.
I think the 1 iv only appears to be better in some situations, because it got so many updates already. But it might be a die sign, that the hardware isn't that much better this year.
There will be updates for the camera to solve all the problems. This phone was launched weeks ago in some countries. It is too early to judge. Let's not forget that Samsung has solved s23 ultra camera problems After weeks or months, I do not remember, but this thing is normal
The important thing is that low light capture is very improved in 1v
It never happened before - Sony is not known for fixing or improving camera quality with updates.

I like to see if RAW is improved on the mark5 compared to mark4. Sony did a right decision to finally invest on AI photography, it is still not perfect but I believe they will improve further in time.
Based on other tests, the quality of the zoom camera has improved a lot, even though the sensor is the same, unfortunately it doesn't seem any better now either.
I think explanation is that Sony still has variances in production quality. Some units have better zoom cameras than others. I think they should switch to prime lenses instead since that small zoom range is not adding much but you do lose lens quality.
I wasn't even going to make comments, but I thought the result was absurd...
* in video mode, the old model is better in all lenses, whether in terms of details, colors, and even HDR... I think the new model for video lacks adjustments.
* in photos, the new model was superior at night and in ultrawide, but in the main one I was in doubt, and in telephoto what a disappointment.
The worst thing is that there is no way to know if the worst result is due to a defect in the telephoto lens of your model, or it is a rule for the entire series... I say this because my s23 Ultra came with a defect in the main camera and it was exchanged... so it's not something impossible.
Moreover, as in other times, congratulations, bringing content that we don't see other channels willing to show, also because it's a shame for Sony, to bring something bad to its entire series, or to bring a defective unit in such an expensive device .
Interesting I see the 1V superior in video esprcially stabilisation. Colours with S-Cinetone are also to my liking.
And yeah Sony is not giving me any test devices. I thought maybe at one point they can as my tests are a mix of subjective opinion with clear samples so you can have your own opinion.
Okay, there has to be quite significant variance between samples of the telephoto-module. Most other reviews I've seen have shown the 1 V to be better than the 1 IV, but here it's the complete opposite. I assumed it was the exact same telephoto module, but hoped that they had perfected the manufacturing process for the 1 V, but this does not seem to be the case.
Even with the 1 IV you saw variances in quality between review units. I think Sony still has manufacturing quality issues so you don't know what you'll get.
I think the 1 V is better but not much, but the 1IV has become the most updates until now. Maybe it will be get better by the 1 V with more updated.

Thanks a lot for the video! I bought my 1 IV one year ago and everything is fine with it so far. Your videos helped me to get one. So Sony give this man some % please. I found myself using the video functionalities very extensively. A possible suggestion would be to compare the audio and video stabilization of the main sensors as well.

I like you to compare the mark 4 and mark 5 camera using manual mode.
Both phone need to use same iso and shutter speed. This way i can see the improvement .
I have waited for this one. It seems that 1M4 can hold its own compared to the 1V. But theres more, like the battery, brighter screen. Great👍
Hopefully there will be an update to fix that telephoto. Hate to see the day when Sony follows LG in exiting the business.
I've read that Sony's Mobile division recently extended their contract with Qualcomm to use the Snapdragon SoCs, so it can be assumed that we will get at least a few more years of Xperia devices.

Very good analytics, I really enjoyed your sharp focus on the picture output and kept yourself unbiased from the thought of "new model should have better picture" . I actually have 1 Mark IV and zoom at 125mm becomes soft and still 1 Mark V shows an even worse output, I just don't see the point of spending heaps of money on a new model just because it has few tweaks. The other image differences from the main lens can be easily fixed at post processing especially if one takes them in RAW format.

A bit too warm amd contrasty on the first and more realistic but maybe a bit too white because of the white shirt on the second. Its easier to fix the latter than the first

Or please in the dark room take shots with manual settings and see if there are colored/burned dots in the image to check both if it's the drivers. Thank you so much!

Nope. Not all in Basic. Some in Auto, P and Shutter priority. RAW mode I did not compare yet.

Thanks for the video. I am getting really bad quality photos with the Tele lens on the 1 V. Randomly they turn out amazing. I think the 1 IV really had better software calibration on the Tele lens. Something is totally off. Wondering if Sony is already addressing it.

Sony Xperia 1v is worse than 1iv. The pictures are over processed and over sharpened. The colors and the exposure are wrong and the zoom pictures have less details.
The 1 iv seems better on most photos, obviously the new sensor of the 1 v needs much tuning

Great video. I think the 1iv's zoom really matured as it went on, but I honestly can't say I'm seeing the smearing you're seeing - generally the 1v seems sharper to me, but perhaps that's artificial. There's one shot of the BT tower here in London that I always take to check zoom sharpness, as it has a complex array of aerials at the summit. My 1iv still can't get that quite right, but my 1iv has managed it. It's not chalk and cheese, though, and I find I have to disable face/eye AF sometimes. Hopefully, as you say, with updates the 1v zoom will mature like the 1ivs. In the meantime, the main sensor and thermal improvements have made it a worthwhile upgrade for me.
Since you preferred the 5 IV, is that still an option instead of this new 1 V?
Yeah as still more compact and cheaper. But be aware of overheatibg issues that might occur depending on your region and average temperature

Honestly, with that brand new main sensor I waited for this Xperia to see a breakthrough in mobile photography in terms of quality output. Unfortunately it didn't happen :(. Basically Xperia 1 III is pretty much the same thing with older chipset. I'm disappointed.
That I would not say. I see a very good improvement in terms of the main camera. Dynamic range and low light capabilities are way improved. Zoom and Ultrawide are something different. Here the improvements are marginal at best.
@@lltechview Your last sentence summarize my thoughts - improvements are marginal at best. For me it means that there are no good enough reasons to spend over $1500 again rather than keep Xperia 1 III.
Weird. My 1V takes sharper telephoto pictures than 1IV's. It is similar to many youtubers conclusion of V sharper then IV.

Do you both have AI Zoom enabled or not?
@@lltechview I mostly use it between 3.5X and 5.2 to keep the optical zooming and avoid digital zoom with f higher range.
But yes I have AI enabled ..
Maybe I like the processing of the 1 V better...
@@lltechview yes turn on for both. Ai super resolution improved the zoom by only a little and it's only for digital zoom and not the optical zooms. The 1v's 85-125mm lens also improved the night quality exposure too !
I'm curious, is the Xperia 1V model you're using a pre-production unit (with pre-production software)? If so, that could explain the AI processing issues with the telephoto, etc, perhaps.
Either way, I'm sure software updates will improve the processing.

Both models are the European version since I am based in France .
So I was thinking it could be hardware related on your 1 V...or the other solution my 1 IV has a defect so the 1 V looks better for zoom..
I should alsoadd my 1 IV still has the 1V camera software with UI rotation since I was.not able to remove it.

The 1V zoom lens is very soft, underwhelming imo.

In Basic ist der Zoom des lVer derzeit noch besser abgestimmt. Da benötigt das Ver noch Updates. War beim lVer aber auch so.
Wenn Du beim V er aber im P Mode DR off und Einzelbild AF einstellst, wird der V er Zoom deutlich besser. Probiere mal aus. 😊

In meinen tests, wirds leider deutlich schlechter. Ohne den AI Kram und HDR hab ich mehr Rauschen und unschärfere Bilder.

I wonder how comparison would look like with photography pro? Unless this is already pro app. Also with creative look you could try 'neutral' to see if that looks closer to IV. Unfortunately though your model has not best lens alignment for the periscope lens. Seems Sony is still not able to consistently produce same lens quality for the zoom lenses (since in some reviews it looks better).
Also at 7:29 you can see the V suffers more from chromatic aberrations (CA). That's much tougher to fix with sharpening. I wonder if that is the ultra-wide?

Don't use cable use KDE onnect or any other wireless mrthod.MTP the protocol used via cable is straight from hell total unreliable and a waste of time.

Habe mir doch heute das 1 V bestellt, habe Grad das 1 IV. Hält das 1 V deutlich länger durch (bezogen auf Akkukapazität) weil bei meinem 1 IV mach mal kritisch 1 Tag durchzukommen.
Ja kann ich zumindest durch Tests eines Amerikaners sagen auch keine Hitzeprobleme mehr.
@@Spike626721 ja habe auch schon vieles darüber gesehen auf RUclips oder berichten, aber die meisten haben 120Hz aktiviert, mich würde es halt auch bei 60 Hz Interessieren wie sich da der Akku verhält aber irgendwie macht das keiner
@@HansMartin333 ja gut aber da bei beim 5 der Prozessor ausschlaggebend ist sollte es auch bei 60hz länger durchhalten als das 4. Wie viel länger schwer zu sagen aber sollte ungefähr so viel länger halten wie der Unterschied bei 120 Hz ist.

Mich würde ein test vom honor 90, zenfone 10 und oppo reno 10 pro plus interessieren. Gerade weil die preistrchnisch interessanter klingen.
Ja, leider alle 3 preistechnisch zu teuer für mich zum Kaufen. Honor hat aus irgendeinem Grund aufgehört mir samples zu schicken. Asus hab ich angefragt, aber noch keine Reaktion.

@@lltechviewdas Asus ist von den Features her fast die einzige Alternative zum Xperia. Gerade Formfaktor und Klinke. Von den Specs ein tolles Teil.

@@marcmoore470 Nein, ein deutliches downgrade beim Zenfone 10. Uwide hat kein AF und weniger Pixel kein 4k60fps mehr, Front cam kein AF mehr und kein 4k mehr.

I want natural lkoking photo and that is why I want to get Xperia 1 V to use as camera and iPhone as tool but if the text in photos wont be as good or better than 1 IV, is it still a good buy? Do Sony ever improve the camera after the phone release? Their Alpha camera don't get new features much compare to Fuji so I not sure how will be their phone especislly it is not their main busienss nowadays. Do you have any suggestion for MagSafe kike magnetic case for 1 V? Do you think Sony didnt update the ultrawide and tele because they want to hold off for the next model to have something to improve? It is a shame if only they aable to update these cameras to have macro at least and if can better image quality too!
