I've been lucky enough to own the Ducati and a the Guzzi LeMans... the original 850 with no Mk number..both so called super bikes of their day. A memory of my youth....
I was living in Rome when these motorbikes were produced ..... Needless to say I loved those days. Classic Italian cars everywhere and astonishing bikes. Laverda, Benelli, Moto-Morini and Duatis had many more clever and smaller bikes though. These may be the better known high end ones that everybody has heard about, but there were so many more.
Greetings from Italy.Im an old Italian enthusiast of British and Italian bikes.Im a former owner of a lot of nice bikes such as Ducati sport,Laverda SF.Today I still use a gorgeous tridente.
My dad had a 76 850 Le Mans. I could hear him coming up the canyon when he was coming home from work. The bike almost sounded like a helicopter, womp womp womp womp. Very unique sound.😊
Wow! For me the original Ducati 750SS Desmo is one of the most beautiful bikes ever. Paul Smart and Cook Neilson showed how fast they were too. The early 900 Desmo and 750 Sport are up there as well. I have always been smitten by the Mk1 Guzzi LeMans, lovely lean thing with poise and aggressive stance. I had two Mk2 Guzzi LeMans over the years, a Ducati 250 Desmo back in 1979, a Ducati 860GT and latterly a Ducati 748. Always fancied a Benelli 750 six. I’m not big enough for a Jota, but I was friends with the Laverda Owners Club and got to ride out with a great formation of the things a couple of times…forty or so of those with the taps open is quite an experience!
Nice bit, thanks! I score 3 out of the 5, owning a Moto Guzzi LeMans and riding both MVAgusta and Ducati 750SS a time or three. Lusted after a Laverda but never rode one while the Benelli never got my pulse-rate up.
What a great list - saved the best 'til last! Went from learning on an early air cooled RD250 - to a Le Mans MkII. Was very fortunate to also have had a couple of Monzas, a Lario and later a V7, but you can't beat the note from the 850 with a set of Lafranconis - absolutely sublime.
Owned a Guzzi Le Mans mkl and a Ducati 900SS. Both great bikes but so different. The Guzzi more usable and fun to ride. The Ducati a hard edged 70s sports bike and you felt you was on something special.
I own a Le Mans II. But I miss the Cagiva Elefant 750 or 900. Both have Ducati engines. Anf the Ducati 916. (from the time Cagiva owned Ducati and saved the company by launcing the 916 and Monster) And 916 was a bike that changed the design of the whole MC-industry.
All the 'superbikes' of my youth........ have had a few Guzzi's and Ducati's and the odd Morini over the years..........but the 'later' models............ still have a 900SSie and California 75th Anniversary model..........
The firt two, the MV and the 900 Duke are nice but my favourite bike from those manufacturers were the MV Agusta 750 S with that gorgeous red seat and tank paintjob and the orange painted round case 750 Sport Ducati that came out in about 1973.
Yes I owned a Ducati 900 Darmah, modified with twin spot fairing, it was as fast as my friends 900SS at lest touring very fast across Europe. Rode my friends Laverda Jota, magnificent Beast, very high centre of gravity, the guys that won races on these were heros. Prefer the Ducati. Rode another friends Gussi Le mans, Nice but felt soft. My real favorite Gussi was the V7 750, in black with diagonal red stripe, so beutiful. The MV, I never rode one but in the 80s I was looking for a bike, and there was one second hand in the local shop. Stunningly beutiful, all the mystique. I should have bought it BUT £3000 (if my memory is good) I was Mr Sensible', for the same money I bought the first of the VF1000 Hondas (another Story, no regrets). Now the Benelli, beutiful, saw the pictures, but so rare, I don't think I ever saw one in real life.
I agree with you that Moto Morini 3 1/2 is missing, but I made a video about classic Italian "superbikes" and that's the reason why Morini is not mentioned. Cheers!
Thanks for the video. I agree with the MV Agusta, the Ducati 900SS and the MG 850 Le Mans I, but would replace the JOTA for the Ducati 750 (round engine) and the Sei 750 for anything other than a copy of a Honda engine, probably for one MG 750 V7, S, or S3 with MG combined braking system.
A friend had a 900ss away back in 1978 and let me take it out for a test ride - lovely bike lovely sound lovely looks. Totally impractical but who cares?
Because Count Agusta did not want his customers to go racing. So he insisted on a bulky and heavy shaft drive to be fitted to the bike in order to deter any would be racers.
Nothing of interest for me....after I bought my new 3CE from Roger Slater himself. Stayed faithful for 30 years. Best motorcycle ever made for very many reasons.
I am also still faithful to my 1982 Laverda 1200 Mirage that I bought new in Italy. But of course I admit my love for other great bikes as those in the video...
Not my opinion, sorry The laverda 750 sfc is much better than the yota. An the ducati 750 ss is the best bike ever biult. The 900 is a very good copy, but Not more. Augusta and motoguzzi are very okay, i drive thince 35 years a le mans 3 over 150.000 km But What a fuck is a benelli sei. Show us a cool aermachi or a california, but Not this😉
Hard to disagree but it's missing the bike that saved Ducati and put them on the map. 851/888 and from this frame morphed the Monster. They then dominated WSB.
I had two Moto Morini 3-1/2 motorcycles that were excellent.

Italian bikes are the absolute pinnacle . Back then bikes were real, not like the plastic point and squirt toys today.
Point and squirt toys? Have you ever experienced the power and handling of a modern Superbike, boomer?
I love the old British bikes, but man these Italians can do beauty
Greetings from Italy.Im an old Italian enthusiast of British and Italian bikes.Im a former owner of a lot of nice bikes such as Ducati sport,Laverda SF.Today I still use a gorgeous tridente.
Had a Jota. Had a Le Mans. Still time yet . . .. (Jota was the best bike I ever owned - and I've had a few)
Bella Italia, was für schöne Motorräder!!! 😍👍💪🙋
Ein Traum 👍❤
As an owner of two Moto Guzzi's , i can only thank you for this wonderful video!❤
Long ago, but i still hear the sound ........
Thank you very much!!!

Grazie a te Claudio! Da come parli probabilmente siamo entrambi della stessa epoca e nei tuoi commenti hai detto tutto quello che penso anch'io.

@@tinymonster9762 benelli 750/6 was apparently very delicate and a nightmare to find someone who could service it

Love the sound of my motoguzzi!
91 Mille GT.
Great list. I might have put the SFC in place of the Jota, but it ain't my channel!
What a great list - saved the best 'til last!

Thank you very much indeed for appreciating the list I have made.
Beautiful! I have a few classic Italian bikes. All lovely.
Maybe a Falcone 500, in it's time was the "must have" icon for roaring around Italy, external flywheel and pineapple had a distinctive look.
That is one of my most favourite bikes of all time, but also the little Micucci Guzzinos.
Very Nice Italian motorcykle. 😊👍
Owned a Ducati Darmah and lusted after the 900SS. Moto Guzzi now. There's just something about those Italians.
"something" is: sun, blue skyies, sea, food, kindness, history.
👋🇮🇹
Las más bellas motos del mundo!
Viva Italua!
Thanks for this video. You just listed all the bikes I dreamed of owning when I was riding a Yamaha RD 250 !
it ha been a pleasure to look and hear, thanks
Thank you!
Owned a Guzzi Le Mans mkl and a Ducati 900SS. Both great bikes but so different. The Guzzi more usable and fun to ride. The Ducati a hard edged 70s sports bike and you felt you was on something special.
Knew a guy who owned a 900SS, Jota, and Le Mans - said the Lemon was the best of the 3 ...........
@@soaruk3697 what lemans? 850 or 1000 cc? The 1000 are pure beast and better handling than 900ss/mhr
A finalizar, além da ducatti existe alguma dessas motas?
The Jota was a brutal race-tuned 3C
Ohhh yess...all my dream bikes!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
nice video, thanks for uploading, i go for the Guzzi 850 LeMans, not for the bike itself, but, just because brings me back some memories...
Great to see the LeMans on here. I have one. A much modified Mark 2.
Szuper motorcycle 👍🇮🇹🏍️👍
Conti silencers! What a sound!

I like Guzzi 850 le mans and ducati 900ss. I think there are probably a lot of fans who love these bikes.
J ai eu une moto guzzi 850 Le Mans 2 une très belle machine bonne tenue de route que mon grand frère avait acheté neuve 5:30

The most iconic Italian motorcycle ever made is the Vespa. Is it a real motorcycle, no. Is it a superbike, no. Is it a legend, si.
I only wish they produced the small capacity bikes today
Actually the most iconic 5 Italian bikes.
No the guzzi v7 sport is missing! Much much better than the lemans 1
I could not agree more. If there was space for one more bike it would be the Moto Morine 31/2
I agree with you that Moto Morini 3 1/2 is missing, but I made a video about classic Italian "superbikes" and that's the reason why Morini is not mentioned. Cheers!
The MV Agusta America was super expensive and it had a suede saddle
Love to find a 900SS Ducati

@@jeromef2001 Why not?

The MV Augusta did remind me of Ducati's 860GTS - not a 'pretty' bike, but unique.
Benelli 750 sei.
More is more.
Love that exhaust,- coolest thing I ever saw,- like the exhaust system of your own small spaceship.
just bought a vesopa gts 300. can i get a membership?
A friend had a 900ss away back in 1978 and let me take it out for a test ride - lovely bike lovely sound lovely looks. Totally impractical but who cares?
I owned 2 Moto Guizzi LeMans, 1 Benelli Tornado SS (not an S2), 5 Moto Morinis.
Logo no primeiro exemplo percebemos que as marcas japonesas já estavam muito à frente!
A estética também não se resolve pintando tudo de vermelho!!!!!
You've missed out the Morini 3 1/2. Size isn't everything! It was as quick on a twisty road as many 750s back in the day.
i lost the count for asking myself why MV put shaft drive..
Because Count Agusta did not want his customers to go racing. So he insisted on a bulky and heavy shaft drive to be fitted to the bike in order to deter any would be racers.
If God could ride I swear he would ride an italian bike
benelli sei - neostvareni dječački snovi
Well you missed two, Gilera 500 GP and Moto Guzzi v 8
Japanese vs Italian superbike who is better?🤔
The one who breaks down the least….
These bikes can make much better music than that added to soundtrack, had to mute some of it.
Nothing of interest for me....after I bought my new 3CE from Roger Slater himself. Stayed faithful for 30 years. Best motorcycle ever made for very many reasons.

No Bimota!, damm.
Love these bikes but that watermark in the middle of the screen ruins my enjoyment of the video.
Only Guzzi!
Ahhh! The music, please make it stop..
Get rid of the music.
Not my opinion, sorry
The laverda 750 sfc is much better than the yota.

Way to much lameass music and way to little MC NOISE........
Hillbillylariousimo
Everyone a beauty

851/888 and from this frame morphed the Monster.

The Gilera 500 four cilinder won 2 championship... but the selector neglect him because is ignorant evidently.
Moto Guzzi V7 Sport ?????
Now I choose MOTOGUZZI coz of its practicality, durability & reliable. I'm a former beemer. MOTOGUZZI the BEST.❤
