Water in most urban areas (cities and highly populated areas) is filtered and decontaminated in big facilities before they are distributed to buildings and houses. That's why we pay money for water.
It shows a guy in a normal house with what looks to be just a neighbourhood outdide, so I predicted the worm would be in mosts areas

There are many horrific tropical diseases that we almost never hear about. For example Chagas Disease, a parasite which is transmitted by the Kissing Bug (not joking!). The parasite will slowly eat away at your heart, esophagus and intestines, and will occasionally cause inflammation of the brain. Charming.

Maybe it's because this is among Kurzgesagt's earlier content, but this video is pretty embarrassing. To suggest that pharmaceutical companies donated drugs to eradicate these diseases "with no other motivation than to help" humanity is absolutely ludicrous. Such acts whitewash their reputation while having a minimal impact on their bottom line so that content creators can make videos like this lauding them when sponsored to do so by corporate-friendly charities, such that we might overlook all the harm they do.
My thoughts exactly. NTDs are still one of humanity's biggest problems. This video makes it seem like big pharma came and saved the day and solved NTDs when in in reality, the donations barely made a dent in the number of infections. They're called neglected tropical diseases specifically because big pharma tends not to give a shit about them. It's great that some kind effort is being made but it's a battle that is far from won.
Maybe the fact that kurtz is making big farma out to be the heroes in this scenario has something to do with the channels numerous corporate sponsors, but then again, what do I know?

If I had to describe the current status of mankind with three words, it would be hate, greed and ignorance. Really, I can only think of one really uplifting moment this year. I love the ending here. I know it's cheesy, but it's true. So many suffering is caused by a simple combination of greed and ego-centric living, both of which have basically been integral to our survival for tens of thousands of years... yet right now it's actually one of the things holding back our entire species. Other people suffering? Meh, it sucks, but I don't know them - it'll be fine. Global warming? Sure, sure... but you know.. me or my children won't be around to see the world end because of that so whatever. War over territory, religion, wealth? Sure! I mean there's more than enough for everybody on this world, we even throw out million of pounds of good food every day because it isn't 'fresh' anymore, but giving that to the poor would just result in less customers. Fossile fuel replacements? Sure but... that's less instant-money for us so... let's delay that as long as possible, shall we? Cancer medications costing 10s of thousands a year for the victims? Yeah that sucks, but... but... supply and demand and research costs, right? Etc etc.

RedTheRed owo cancer is different, uts your own body and its harder to kill then regular cells on many occasions.
With things like this you can limit its spread treat it easily, identify it, its different then us, and has weaknesses, we can engineer stuff to kill specifically it.
But each type of cancer is different, they occure at random every where, the cancer is us, if you rig something to kill it, it will probably kill us. We are juat now developing the technology that would allow us to treat cancer more effectively.
