Hi ComicCap! I wanted to thank you for your advice. After some practice and mistakes of my own. I decided to send off 10 books that I pressed to CGC. Guess what?!??! All 10 came back 9.8! I can't believe it. You helped me feel comfortable and confident enough to get started! THANK YOU!!!!!
@@Ak-zf5rb lol bc that’s what they own. If you’re going to press do your research before you make a decision. I would never use a clam bc they shift your book out of alignment. Thanks for checking out my vid. 👍👍
Great video. I do suggest dusting the book before pressing. Any speck of dirt will be pressed into the book preeminently if you don't. You don't have to do a full cleaning but at least do a light brushing off first.
Nicely done. I know this is a basic first video. but I would suggest prior to pressing that the covers should be lightly cleaned with a couple of cotton rounds to remove minor dirt and dust. The cost is minimal and if there are Women in your house, there are likely cotton rounds somewhere as well. Best to all.
Thank you. I started pressing tonight, i bought the Tusy clamshell they recommended, and THEN watched this video - lol. I was very careful and watched into the gap from the side as the top came down. It pressed evenly at all sides of my aluminum plate at the same moment. I think i know what you mean though, if a clamshell is closed without care, it's possible to hit one section of the plate / backer board first and shift things.
Hello , thanks for your video. I am one click of buying the machine , but I want to ask you. I had a flood on my collection. 200 books got damaged somehow , but lookin at them mostly are wrinkly covers, all the pages are good not water stains and the pages are not stock together. Most of my books are complete series and moderm books not too many keys . can i recover these books to a fine look, not looking grading just fine look with pressing ,Cause even most of my books are 2-5 dlls adding up the cost to replace them is 10 times more than buying the machine
You can definitely get them looking better. There are different techniques at fixing waviness in books. I’m on IG also so if you need any advice hit me up. 👍

I must have missed where you went over cleaning
LOL. I did in different video. Thanks for checking out.
thanks, this is giving me confidence!
You didn’t use any steam or a board in the middle of the book? Is that normal?
I didn’t steam in this video but always use as backer at centerfold. Thanks for watching. 👍👍
Do you put a backing board in the center of the book? Thanks.
Yes sir!
Awesome information!
Thanks Brian!
