Glass-whatever its animal mascot-is glass, and glass shatters. Gorilla Glass is nowhere near as strong as refined sapphire. You could break a GG5 sheet with a piece of sapphire. Sapphire is in a different league entirely.

Not only that,it also makes people angry.Yes,their device might last long(not the battery though),but it easily get obsolete and old(defenitely not intended).
I've had this phone for going on 2 years, and still clean it under running water for kicks. I have dropped it plenty and never had any extra protection on it. No scratches noticable when the screen is on. One thing I'd say about it is that, while the exterior holds up phenomenally to abuse, I can tell the gyroscope and processor are feeling the abuse. Assuming however durable the phone is, the innards will still get knocked around. All in all, most durable phone I've ever seen!
I don't even want to imagine how much Apple would charge for a sapphire screen. Then again, they'd probably just lie about it being sapphire and still charge the outrageous price.
I'm pretty sure he did that on purpose to mock samsung for the non programmable button. He was talking about the 2nd programmable button at that moment

Yes it's more durable that gorilla glass.
I had the Duraforce Pro 1 (same sapphire crystal screen) and I literally threw it 15-20 feet down my driveway and it didn't break it. The battery cover came off but that was all, I popped it back on and the show went on lol..
My dad has this phone bc he breaks most of his phones from dropping them. Hes had it for about 10 months and has dropped it probably about 50 times from various heights. It hasnt scratched, cracked or shattered a bit. If that tells u anything
Glass-whatever its animal mascot-is glass, and glass shatters. Gorilla Glass is nowhere near as strong as refined sapphire. You could break a GG5 sheet with a piece of sapphire. Sapphire is in a different league entirely.

Yea sapphire is scratch resistant but its more brittle compared to glass.
But if it is more scratch resistant then cracks are less likely to form, the downsides of the brittle part would come into effect with punctures and bending right?
No no when a material is brittle it cracks faster when there is a sudden impact
@@bhume7535
You can smash a diamond like it's nothing. It's hard, but also very brittle. Same with sapphire. Plastic is very easy to scratch but doesn't really shatter all that easy. It's a balance.
ok, but is the difference between the brittleness of glass and sapphire significant enough to care about? The DuraForce Pro 2 is a rugged phone, I'd imagine people would care more about a screen in one piece then small scratches.
Kyocera makes a great cheap phone. I've had the original Dura Force for around 4 years or more. The only problem I've ever had was the finger print scanner stopped working after a few years. Not a scratch on the screen! It's been underwater filming, in my pocket while swimming...by mistake. Dropped 100s of times on concrete and rocks. It's not the most "Tech" phone....but it just works for rugged conditions! I'm going to get the Dura Force 2.....the original did not disappoint! And I killed alot of phones in the past!
This is good. Apple should learn alot from this video. 👍
Its very hard to mass produce saphire in the way Apple sells phones. Very, very hard. Sould they call the lens saphire, no thats BS and Apple knows it. They literally made the company that hired go bankrupt because they couldent keep up with demand.
Also saphnire shatters MUCH easier in a larger thing, but in a small thing like the camera bump it is still more shatter resistant than glass. Its not all about scratches.
No, consumer should learn from this video to not buy false advertised products
@@TheJupiteL actually small saphire with impurities is harder to crack and easier to scratch than glass. by about 5 percetn, mind you, but Apple ddid do something right and its not false advertising because it actually does something
thats right Apple's not completly BS, wow how bout that. Mind blowing ik. Should they call it saphire? no They should call it shatter resistant saphire with an asterisk leadint to a statement saying it scratches like glass but shatters less
was hoping you would hammer that tablet back into shape using the kyocera phone.
And then say "Not a single scratch on the Kyocera phone, Apple however... "
Wrong! It is made from a rare Nokianium substance, the same used to make the Nokia 3310.
The reason why you could scratch it is because it is not fully made out of Nokianium. Then again, it won’t be necessary, because Nokia 3310 is already made out of full and pure Nokianium. And it is the most durable phone of any year.
I am an only apple user. In my opinion the glass on the camera really matters but if you think about it, yes you need a descent quality glass panel on the front but most people use screen protectors so the actual screen never gets damaged. Just something to think about.
