Such a wonderful point to stress. Ty doc!!!
My drs found out last Nov 23 my vitamin D level was an 8. I’m still on the 50,000. Iu’s a week prescription D but should be able to take otc soon. I thought I had bone cancer and was dying. Too many health issues to list. Mental issues. Skin, bone and pain that was unbearable. Insomnia. I prayed each night not to wake up the next morning. I even had a benign breast tumor that shrunk after starting the D vitamin. Please take your vitamin D, magnesium, B complex with b-12, calcium . Make sure your family takes these too. I was gaining weight and losing my hair and I’ve lost 20 lbs or so since being on vitamin D and the others. I don’t want anyone to suffer from something so easily cured. ❤

My impression of most doctors is that they mainly deal in pharmaceutical offerings. That, if a vitamin can help you or be used as prevention, they either don’t know about it or are trained to think a medication is not simply the best tool, but the only tool. Although vitamins can have side effects, too, doctors aren’t aware or don’t care whether the side effects of medications are worse.
Although I found I was not B12 deficient, I became horrified to think that, after decades of being on Metformin, none of my doctors thought it would be a good idea to have that checked as, Metformin can prevent absorption of B12, which could lead to nerve problems - one of the very issues with being a diabetic.

I recently became ill with all manner of neurological symptoms (light headed, lethargic, muscle cramps, poor vision, difficulty walking). It was all due to vitamin D and to a lesser extent, vitamin B deficiency. Got injections and started oral supplements and was significantly better in a few days. Doctors rarely test for this, so request it or go to a lab and get it done independently if you have any of these symptoms!

Thanks Doc! I take 10,000 IUs and have since my doctor diagnosed me as severely deficient. I was diagnosed with immune dysfunction and I was sick a lot. I would get a sinus infection in January and it would last 3 or 4 months and I always had to have Zithromax to get rid of it. But after several months of taking Vit D, I didn't get sick anymore! And here's something REALLY important: My husband had Cancer and was in the hospital in 2020 for a period of almost 6 weeks. He was going through Chemo and we all know that Chemo destroys the immune system, so he was extremely vulnerable to any contagious disease. I too was still considered immune deficient at that time since I hadn't been taking it that long. My husband was in 2 separate hospitals. Both hospitals had large numbers of COVID patients. My husband was taking 2000 IUs per day of Vit D, the recommended amount.
While he was in the hospital, we only wore masks when we were in the hallways and the doctors and nurses often removed their masks when they came into the room.
Even with all that, NEITHER of us EVER got sick! They tested him every day and he tested negative. I was tested twice during that time and was also negative.
I knew how effective Vit D was for the immune system, but now I am convinced that a lot of COVID patients are Vit D deficient.

After a couple years I noticed kidney pain followed by passing a couple stones. I pinpointed D3/K2 after I paused taking it and the issues subsided. Most do well on 5,000 IU's but you have to take K2 with it too. I like MK7 form. AND I take Cod Liver Oil for D, A and Omega-3's. What is your #? If you are very deficient some take 10k IU's for a month. Testing is the best way to do it accurately. I would not take 10k for too long though.

taking vitamin D supplements in excess for a long period of time can develop specific hypervitaminosis and consequent intoxication.
To treat vitamin D intoxication, it is necessary to stop or reduce its intake with drugs and supplements
