    Progress to an advanced level of guitar playing - bulletproofguit... Decided to make another video about Mateus Asato since there's just so many cool things that go into this guys playing that make it sound incredible. Today I'm specifically looking at the way in which Mateus will incorporate 3rd's and 6th's to harmonise his lead lines, resulting in some very melodic phrasing.

    That intro was beautiful man. If you could teach the whole note for note that would be amazing. Otherwise if you could send me the tabs I would happily pay you for them.

    You keep nailing all these Mateus Asato style playing man holy shit thanks for this. He's one of my new favorite guitarist to listen to and learning his style from you is so helpful

    Wow mind blown started playing around with this and then realized that how slow dancing in a burning room intro starts. Just sliding between 1 and 3 and 1and 6 and and back and mixing with pentatonic and chord. Realizing that now just opened my mind to so much! I finally understand where that movement came from.

    My favourite solo he does is on the video with tim pierce and pete thorn, at the very start of the video he does 2 parts the first part then the guys play again then he just kills it in the last solo, you should defs check it out

    just as a perfect 5th interval inverted becomes a perfect 4th interval ( and vice-a-versa ).
    a 3rd interval inverted becomes it's counter part, a 6th interval ( also vice-a-versa ).

    If you made a whole course on Mateus Asato, I would but it. Learning the lick from the last lesson improved my connectivity to no end. I can suddenly play hard/fast licks smoothly.

      Derek is very high up on my list of favourite players, but I'm not even remotely skilled enough to pull off a lesson on his slide playing. He's just otherworldly.

      Yeah D. Trucks! leaving aside his soloing, as you watch him during verses he does heaps of tasty simple licks and selective strumming. His timing is also magic..be good to watch Ross get under the bonnet

    Thanks Ross! Ive harmonized those 3rd and 6ths before by accident but never knew the magic formula for why that worked. Thanks for making the theory clear, now I should be able to move it around the neck. Its a beautiful sound!

    Great teacher, great player! I thought I recognized those pickups as non-Fender, and then realized they were Dimarzios. They sound great in that Strat. Speaking of great tone, I believe Andy Timmons uses those Dimarzio Cruisers in his Ibanez strat-style guitar. Years ago, I had a white 60's Strat with a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge position. It was so hot! Still kicking myself for foolishly letting that guitar slip through my fingers.

    DUDE!!! I had no idea you did a Mateas follow up. Can't wait to dig in man...the last one was so helpful... I started using the last lesson in minor keys as well as altering little bits to include different "shades" of major flavors ... those two licks went so far for me... can't wait to see where this takes me. GREATLY APPRECIATED MAN! Please let me know if you are ever touring in NYC . would love to support.

    I'd like to see you do a series of videos focusing solely on rhythm playing. Perhaps this could be a 'in the styles of' series. Maybe address some important concepts such as leaving space, single note rhythm styles, 'what to do with yourself' inbetween Ross Campbell inspired blazing solos etc.

    • @RossCampbellGuitarist
      @RossCampbellGuitarist  5 лет назад

      That's a good idea Graham, thanks for the suggestion! I'll be sure to think of some more rhythm-based content in the future.

      @@RossCampbellGuitarist Can I suggest the late great Danny Gatton as someone to feature in a video one day? I always told myself 'I hate country music'.... until I realised how much fun it is to play. I only discovered Danny via guitar mags etc. What an amazing guitarist and a very sad story how he passed away so far too young. Maybe a tribute is fitting?

    My ears tell me when I harmonize using 3th, 4th and 6th intervals that the important note is the higher in pitch . In other terms if I want to harmonize the D note in the key of D I would pair it with a A note below rather than F# above. Make any sense?

    • @Sandarpan
