Gaunter O'Dimm is the best version of this imo. You randomly talk to him in the opening quest, and then he does actually appear as a random NPC throughout the game. Then in the DLC he's revealed to be this wildly powerful demon that traps people into curses
One for me was Wesker in the original Resident Evil. I think people forget that he was one of the STARS members with you to start with but obviously ends up being one of the main bad guys throughout the series
While Wesker went on to becoming the big bad of the Resident Evil series, I'll always remember him for getting offended when Chris laughed at the Tryant and whined at him to "Stop it!"
Actually, you can put both Airy AND her sister, Anne! Because the fairy that appears in the opening of the first game asking you to "stay til the very end" and also appears after the end credits saying "Oh, good job, you stopped my sister's evil plan!" is actually Anne. She basically makes you think that she is rooting for you to save the world from Airy and the dark god Ouroboros, and she is... but not for noble reasons! Turns out in Bravely Second, Anne was also in the service of a dark god, this time named named Providence. She wanted Airy's plans out of the way as they posed a threat to Providence which is why she approached the player for help. She also uses the villains for her own ends and had actually succeeded until the heroes go back in time to prevent Kaiser from abducting Agnes like he did in the beginning. Both fairies are master manipulators but Anne is the better one because she was able to manipulate even YOU, the player.
It needs to be saved from the ps3. It released way too early in the ps3 life cycle when no one owned a ps3. It's at the top of my Blue Point wish list.
@@dutch_asocialite It's a hack & slash game similar to "God of War" which, at the time, probably had some of the best acting in a video game, at least from the lead. The cab driver being Kaïn in Bloodlines is pretty much confirmed when you play a Malkavian. The unique dialogue option they get (working from memory here) in a specific conversation with the guy being an answer going something like "So... That mean you are...!" followed by mad laughter. And reading between the lines is enough to understand since basically only the father of vampire-kind causes that kind of obsession and awe in vampiric society.
The game files who contain the driver models is aptly named Cain. But also, back in the days, the owner of the franchise disallowed the developers to use Cain himself, so officially he's not the one.

The big thing I feel is that he was not the mastermind of this Coffin Farse, it was Jack. He really hated all sides of the typical faction fighting, and found a way to take them all down a peg or three, especially LaCroix. In some of the endings you get screwed over (Jack and the dynamite laden coffin for you and LaCroix, the Kuejin dumping you in said coffin off the coast of California). But this being VTM, that is part for the course of how some games can end in the tabletop game.

Master Miller from Metal Gear Solid turning out to be Liquid Snake was definitely a twist and shocker for me back in the day. Whole time he was assisting me only to trick me in the end.
The elemental dragon's betrayal in Chrono Cross blew me away. I just spent all of disk one helping them screw me over and had to spend disk two fixing it 😂
That what my choice for this list as well. What made is more shocking is that some of them you made friends with, (Fire Dragon God) some gave you important items that helped you on your journey (Water Dragon God giving you Ice elemental to free the lava in Mount Pyre) others got you out of jam (Sky Dragon God rescuing you when the Dead sea world started collapsing after you defeated Miguel) and ALL gave you Summons and Dragon Tears. So when the big reveal happened in Disc 2 that they was playing you the whole time, and used you as a pawn so that they can merge and become the Time Devourer, I was flabbergasted! 😱 Great game, btw.
I mean, FATE had to die anyway. The Dragons' enemy was FATE, who was also our enemy too. We were used, yes, but betraying us wasn't their main intention.
@@sadie9728 Yeah, that hurt me as well. She was one of the best black innate color characters in the game. (Next to Serge in Lynx's body) Hell, she was one of the best team members that joined your party.
Vampire The Masquerade is interesting, Vampires look for older vampires for sucking their blood, it's called diablerie, the older the vampire, more power you get when you drink. It is said, that Cain did this to see where to put his trust to go against the rise of the werewolves.
Not sure that's 100% correct. I think you got the process name correct but I was under the impression it would require you to drink ALL of the blood of the elder vampire gaining all of their power. In the roleplaying books this also results in yourself getting a unique aura that certain vampires can see which makes it also incredibly dangerous and its supposedly illegal in the vampire world, just as illegal as breaking the Masquerade. Drinking another vampires blood normally however without killing the "victim" would turn you into a ghoul I believe but I don't remember if it was only for humans, but I do remember that the vampire that does the drinking can also become enthralled to the one offering their blood as well, almost like mind control. I don't remember if vampire who do this will get an immense amount of power or not but I know humans who do see a drastic increase in their abilities, while still being mortal, almost like a super serum.
Jack is the one who tricked everybody and the sarcophagus did have an ancient vampire in it. If you play as a Malkavian and ask the right questions you find out the Cab driver is Caine
@@raventhorX 2 months late, but who cares? Yes, if you drink ALL of the blood of a vampire which is of a "lower" (older) generation, you´ll become a vampire of that generation and *might* get some of their powers if they´re from a different clan/ blood line than yours. also true is that you get a "tainted aura" from diablery, and vamps with a certain Auspex level can see that. But usually those marks go away after a while and very old and powerful vampires can potentially disguise their aura. The ghoul thing is basically correct, but that´s purely for humans. You can "bind" a vampire to you and make them submissive to you in a similar way (frequently letting them taste your blood). Contrary to ghouls, vampires could potentially withstand or even break that bond though. Damn, I kinda miss the WoD pen&paper times...Especially my books like the Book Nod and Encyclopedia Vampirica (had a signed one that the author gave us on a small convention... someone stole it -.-)
Persona 4, Good Ending & True Ending plot twist was quite shocking imo.. Adachi is sus, but u wouldn't suspect him unless u comnect all of the stuff, not to mention namatame suddenly pop ups at the end, this one mess with players.. While the attendant, that first headache was sus.. but first time playing, didn't think much of it.. There are hints, but still tho..
@@writer_man5318 Fair enough. Having played P4 first, I was suspicious because of the voice change and not surprised he turned out to be what he is. Same with Akechi, it was painfully obvious right away because of Adachi. They pretty much made the same two twists in P5, lol.
Hmmm... actually i'd say The Watchers who opened the Portal in Drakengard 3 were the real villains. Or at least Nier who doomed Humanity in a seemingly selfish act. Devola and Popola were basically just following their programming and trying to protect what's left of humanity. If Nier hadn't defeated the Shadowlord, Gestalts and Replicants would've been fused back together (with humanity probably still being doomed because Replicants can't reproduce). Personally i don't think that there is a "true" villain in Nier: Replicants became self-aware, they got a consciousness of their own. At least to a certain extend. Now who has the bigger claim? The Gestalts over their Replicant bodies or the Replicants who just want to live (that question still divides players ^^) Devola and Popola were just inbetween all of that but i wouldn't say that they were the villains of the game.
Kreia in Knights of the Old Republic 2 definitely fits this list - although I remember being quite happy I could fight her as I found her annoying from the start xD
Solas from dragon age inquistion and Lucy from AC broke my heart I did not see it comming, I remember just googling why it happened because I was so confused and sad

Imagine a game that actually had dynamic story elements that affected the entire game and could play out differently every time you play through it. Like starting a game with several assistants, but one of them is randomly picked to become the main villain by the end of the game, or one of the big bad's key lieutenants defects to help you but it's random which one will do it. It would be like random events in game, but they actually have MAJOR implications and changes to the overall story. With just a few of things like this you could have over 10 different endings easily.
Unfortunately in the modern gaming mark developers wouldn't be allowed to make such an awesome game because we'd all buy it and wouldn't need another game for like a decade.
Norah from Child Of Light was a big one. Especially since you could waste a lot of time training her, only for her to betray your team and seeing all that effort go to waste.
Yesss, it was so heartbreaking, not only for the story reasons (c'mon, she's our sister!), but for gameplay reasons as well. She's, like, the best control unit in the game!
Airy being evil and the villain all along is very similar to a fairy called Lee from Yugioh’s World Chalice cards. She convinces the hero party to search out items to destroy invading machines robots which are in fact the good guys. Then steals the main heroines body for her own.
If anyone is looking for a game where this plays out, it is one of the solo mission chains in "Master Duel," that lets you play with cards you probably do not have yet.
But did he really trick you? He did warn about it not ending well for Wander if he went through with killing the collossis in the beginning of the game
Great picks, and I would probably add Wesker from Resident Evil and Adachi from Persona 4, even though they aren't regular NPCs. Wesker is a no brainer, and Adachi actually kind of blew my mind when it was revealed he was the main villain. I know a lot of people say they already knew it was him, but I didn't 🙃
Same.. until i searched up for the different endings, i always picked namatame as the culprit.. back then, i thought he was just that one goofy side character.. After learning that he is the main culprit.. I'm still not fully convinced.. like, huh.. I thought the one who handled mayumi was dojima.. and i did6 know that saki was being interviewed..

Adachi having a connection to the first two being a detective, the letter sent to the house, and his over the top quirky behavior & facial expression (kinda sus).. but unless u really pay attention & connect the dot, u wouldn't find out, especially when namatame show up acting like a suspect.. Izanami on the other hand, has one huge hint, the first day MC arrived, after the handshake, he got a weird headache.. that is a big sus.. but because she only appeared once in the story, first time player would forget that character.. unless adachi is caught.. why? Because after he is caught, they characters have 1 weird question, how did they got their power in the first place..
Wesker caught me by surprise when he turned out to be evil. I was thinking, "Wait, who even is this guy? Hunk was more important to the plot than him."
I fully expected atlas from bioshock to be #1 on this list, a huge plot twist at the time that I certainly didn’t see coming. Definitely surprised it didn’t get a spot in this list for sure
Thats so true about Lucy Stillman in AC. It was such a cliffhanger thing in AC:B, but hardly anything comes of it. I had to google it to understand she was a double DOUBLE agent. She was so nice and trustworthy, i think the writers just wanted a cliffhanger.
One twist that blew me away as a kid that still sticks with me is Syphon Filter 2, an OLDDDDDDDDD PS1 game. It's also the very major model of this list. CBDC Lieutenant Jason Chance is just some barely there NPC that pops up in a mission or two and just seems like a rather green field agent, prone to getting himself captured and kind of a nice guy. But completely inconsequential as a character. Until he's not and turns out he is one of the big bads in on the conspiracy the whole time.
Binary Domain and Alpha Protocol are such slept on diamonds in the rough 🤣. I appericate when they randomly pop up on list vids. I wish they both get proper remakes and sequels.
I like the Prince of Persia Warrior Within reveal for the TWO twist villains. The Whole game you think it's the creature of time that is the villian. And then the random man who follows you. And you're led to believe that the princess is good as well. Then you discover that the sand creature is actually you from a different time line, and the princess is a bad guy with the exact same motivation that you have. Underrated game.
One of my faves, is in the Lord of the Rings Online game: Sarah Oakheart. She's this old women you come across in multiple areas. Each time, she is 'caught up in some trouble' and you need to safely escort her: lead her out out of some prison pen, undead barrows, goblin camp, whatever. And, like all escort quests, the brain-dead NPC rushes around, pulling more mobs on you, getting herself in trouble before you get yourself out of the previous troubles. Fast forward months later, you get called by her to escort her to an area in the heart of the enemies' territory. This time she boldly just strolls through, then announces herself as the new big bad. You've been advancing her goals for ages, and yes, that escort npc literally was trying to get you killed. It was a glorious trolling.
Favorite thing is the title screen change for Bravely Default. The secondary title is 'Where the fairy flies' after you find out, it highlights 'airy lies' in red.
Replaying tales of vesperia right now and many of the villains in the game are surprises because you spend so much time taking down cartoonishly villainous characters that the real puppet masters are quite the holy crap moments. (Also some characters you thought were going to be big bads or at least sub bosses turning out to be helpful)
Fun fact about Wild ARMs 3: The entire game is designed as an "alternate universe" of the first game (not to be confused with Alter Code F) but with locations and the like from 2. The point is that A LOT of the enemies in 3 were from the first game but re-imagined. Beatrice, the final boss of 3, was a story-important-throw-away dungeon boss from the first game most forgot about. If you had played the first game, you might have gone through 3 wondering where she was, only for her to be in literally every town and in a TON of cut-scenes - sometimes walking between you and the enemy!
I would also add Legacy of Kain series. Kain was always thought to be the bad guy but he is actually good and the thing you meet in after Razael was thrown into the water. the big thing in the spirit realm was the main evil dude. Great game
HEAVENLY SWORD was amazing... sadly I was never able to beat the final Boss... damn these forms got so brutal, it wasn't fun anymore. Playing through Dark Souls was easy in comparison ^^
The Elder God from Soul Reaver. Took until the 2nd SR before the truth emerged on that one. The Watcher from Darksiders 3, who it turns out is actually Envy, the first of the Seven Deadly Sins you thought you killed at the start of the game. Wesker, from Resident Evil. Need I say more? Atlas from Bioshock. Another offscreen guy in the chair type who turns out to be Fontaine, the main villain. Miller from Metal Gear Solid. Pretty sure nobody could call that one.
The entire ticket room in Bioshock: Infinite. You go from lazily walking Elizabeth through the arcade to a guns-blazing ambush with only one means of escape because EVERYONE is a hostile.
I'd say Metroid Prime 3 was a betrayal because it is NOT 100%-able anymore. Those damn green orbs. THAT is why you DO NOT make live serviced games, they inevitably all come crashing down in the end.
Biggest betrayal i think was the bioshock one...Not gonna spoil it for other people cuz it is one of those moments u absolutely MUST see for ur own. Like holy shit i had my jaw dropped for whole 2 minutes when i got to know the real shit thats going on. Also not having that moment in this video is a hate crime
Dude I have to say, the Batman telltale series is the best version of Batman in my opinion. The origin story and Bruce Wayne’s cool James Bond style is really amazing. Plus the bat suit looks really cool! What I really like the most, is how they handled the father/son relationship with Alfred in this game. You can choose to avoid the ridiculous line “you’re not my father blah blah”(i’m looking at you Batman 2022. Hate that line) lol 😂. I’ll admit, I almost tear up a bit when you can tell Alfred “you’re family”.
A character belonging on this list imo is Duran from Starcraft Broodwar. Starts out as a rebel fighting against the evil emperor Mengsk. Helps the United Earth Directorate to dethrone Mengsk. Plays the commanders of the UED and turns them against eachother while tricking them into almost destroying their best weapon against the Zerg. Turns out to be infested and under Kerrigans control. Helps Kerrigan brutally slaughter all Terran and Protoss opossition that is trying to defend the Galaxy from beeing destroyed by the Zerg. Disappears without any explanation UNLESS you unlock a secret mission which reveals he serves a dead god that wants to destroy the universe. Returns in Starcraft 2 disguised as Dr. Narud. Helps turning Kerrigan back into a human and rescue the galaxy from the Zerg. Turns out he only helped because 1st Kerrigan was the only one who could defeat to the dead god Amon. 2nd he used Kerrigan's psionic powers to revive Amon. Somewhere along the way he tortures one of the UED officers and turns him into a Zerg. And builts an alien hybrid army that can enslave Terran, Zerg and Protoss alike. Basically he always presents himself as an ally at first only to betray whoever falls for it in the most twisted and horrible ways.
1. On the list, Is my similar idea for paimon is genshins story. She looks too similar to the unknown god in the beginning and there’s no other beings like Paimon in the world.
A very obscure suggestion here BUT, what about jeweller gem from illusion of time? (or Gaia for the us version) He seems like a support character by giving you stuff when you hand him gems but after he gets them all he reveals himself as the actual bad guy of the game & you fight him in a side quest brawl. You don't really get anything for it & afterwards you get sent back to Egypt where you encounter him for the last time.
For Lucy, there were collectibles scattered throughout the animus, like the glyphs from 2, that formed a vid where subject 16 talks about how Lucy isn't what she seems
The great thing about airy is that she's never portrayed as very nice. She's certainly helpful at times, and certainly one to push you onwards to "help" the crystals and she acts like a proper companion to the party - but she's very insistent on haste, she acts irritated whenever you slow down or go out of your way to help others, she's can sound very cold-hearted at times, and while you think this is all because she just so desperate to fulfil the main mission to "save the world", in reality it's because she's been through this countless goddamn times and just wants this to be over with. I really like that you can see her frustration slowly bubbling beneath the surface of her demeanour throughout the game.
I was expecting the Mariachis from Sam & Max to be on this list. In the first acts they appear out of nowhere everytime someone mentions his birthday, do their crazy acts and disappear as suddenly as they appear, and at the end they are revealed to be the real bad guys there.
Your #1 is mine as well. That first time I booted the game up and saw the subtitle change blew me outta my mfn boooooots. Amazing twist in a game whose whole gameplay loop is an amazing twist on turn based RPGs. Bravely Default is wasted as a 3DS exclusive, I wish it would have at least gotten a PC or Switch port, if not PS4 and X1. I still think it should get ported to this day! Truly underrated.
Huh, I thought you said this was a list of characters where it wasn't a significant plot twist when they turn out to be evil. During the 'first' run Airy is supposedly guiding you towards saving your world, and preventing the disaster that destroyed the MC's hometown from happening again. The fact she's actually the main villain is supposed to be a rather significant plot twist, though I do agree that it was very well done.
My favorite twist villains were Darth Treya from KOTOR II and Darth Revan from KOTOR. I don't know if anyone would consider her a surprise twist or not but it was still a damn good twist even if you saw it coming. And yeah I know he wasn't an NPC but that was still damn surprising.
Revan is technically not a real Sith or an idealist as they are in modern Star Wars today, Revan was the case that "Fine call me evil if you must I will do as I must to save your arses from the real threat out there. Not Palpatine and his clone, not The Sith Empire and definitely not the other Empire either."
I love Wild Arms it's like every silly thing from JRPGs combined, so it's funny and almost feels like a parody. But it's still a good JRPG with a good story, compelling characters and good twists!
Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks that the Cab Driver might be Cain himself, like playing through the game I found he was a vampire, but yeah, after one of the endings I got it into my head that he might have been Cain as well.
I'm surprised that the Trails/Kiseki series isn't here. Random harmless-looking NPCs turning out to be the main villain is that series' bread and butter.
I genuinely never understood that Lucy was a bad guy, I just thought we killed her cos Juno (or Minerva, I forget which) was a bitch. I think I found the info saying she was a double agent and just dismissed it as the templars either saving face or just mistook it for saying she was an assassin double agent. Was so long ago I can't really remember tbh but I definitely never realised she was a bad guy and was always confused as to why everyone just kinda forgot about it and let it go
I kind of feel the same. stuck on AC 3 and havent really played through any up to that point but I don't remember it being said about her being a double agent.
The rumor circulating the internet at the time was that Kristen Bell asked AC creator Patrice Désilets for a pay raise in the next AC . Unable to reach an agreement, Bell left the series (or was fired by Désilets depending on the particular rumor) and her character was killed off (by Désilets without informing Bell). Ironically, Désilets would quit (get fired from) Ubisoft for creative differences (mishandling the MD story line) shortly thereafter. These were all rumors, of course. I never heard an official account.
Weirdly the Heavenly Sword example has a near-identical counterpart in Final Fantasy XIII. There was this random white owl following you throughout the game. Nobody comments on it, and then it fuses with the antagonist to become the final boss.
I have no idea why that Navi comparison made me think of the old flash video called The Return of Ganondorf. The short of it is that Gannondorf for whatever reason becomes good and Link doesn't believe it and it just waiting for him to do something evil, which he doesn't, which drive Link crazy. Navi slaps link back to his senses at the end and tell Navi lets go fishing and as Navi flys he whats he says your next bait and starts laughing like a the new bad guy.
Persona 4's main villain is a random npc employee that works at the gas station in the town. That came as a real shock in the end. It deserves to be on top ten list.
Not a single character, and debatable if they were actually evil, but you find out pretty late in Star Ocean 3 that the whole main plot of the game doesn't really matter and the literal lives of millions that are at stake in the galaxy don't really matter either. Why? Well, because the entire universe is just a simulation created by beings from a higher dimension and not actually real. The destruction of the Miky Way is more like server maintenance, and the higher beings do it without a single speck of guilt, just as humans would with an MMO server getting reseted. It's such a shock and made worse by the fact the only sane option for the party is basically to get their memories erased, forget about the simulation altogether, and return to the main scenario.
I really wish with lists like this, that more channels do like what outside Xbox does. They throw up a list in the video of which games the spoilers are for. More effective than just in the description below.

Great game, btw.
I mean, FATE had to die anyway. The Dragons' enemy was FATE, who was also our enemy too. We were used, yes, but betraying us wasn't their main intention.
BUT I LOST HARLE. 💔
@@sadie9728 Yeah, that hurt me as well. She was one of the best black innate color characters in the game. (Next to Serge in Lynx's body) Hell, she was one of the best team members that joined your party.
@@LeedleLee457 My memory must be fuzzy, I can understand that FATE was the dragon's enemy. But how was he the human's enemy?
To me, Bioshock's Andrew Ryan was the biggest plot twist for me with the "Would you kindly" phrase. Blew my mind when I was younger.
I was expecting it in the list
I was expecting you to comment Mr. Alex, ever since my 1st "Would you kindly..." said to you all those years back.
same
andrew ryan and revan are secret baddies i've reflected on a decade after i played those games
@@YojoDeezy I was 14 when I found out that I was Revan the whole time.
Few have done the same since.
Vampire The Masquerade is interesting, Vampires look for older vampires for sucking their blood, it's called diablerie, the older the vampire, more power you get when you drink. It is said, that Cain did this to see where to put his trust to go against the rise of the werewolves.
I thought it was Jack who tricked everybody. The cab driver is known to be Cain due to the filenames for his audio...
@@ArcaneSorceror They were just friends.
Damn, I kinda miss the WoD pen&paper times...Especially my books like the Book Nod and Encyclopedia Vampirica (had a signed one that the author gave us on a small convention... someone stole it -.-)
The gas station attendant in Persona 4 is Izanami, a crazed god and the mastermind of the entire game. Secret final boss for the true ending.
Igor in Persona 5 was a better twist in my opinion.
@@writer_man5318 Fair enough. Having played P4 first, I was suspicious because of the voice change and not surprised he turned out to be what he is. Same with Akechi, it was painfully obvious right away because of Adachi. They pretty much made the same two twists in P5, lol.
Devola and popola from nier got me. Doing missions for them throughout the game and turns out they're one of the main antagonist
Nier should be in this list.
Nier would've done what he did regardless of them though, thus dooming everyone so...
Hmmm... actually i'd say The Watchers who opened the Portal in Drakengard 3 were the real villains.
Personally i don't think that there is a "true" villain in Nier:
Replicants became self-aware, they got a consciousness of their own. At least to a certain extend.
Now who has the bigger claim? The Gestalts over their Replicant bodies or the Replicants who just want to live (that question still divides players ^^)
Devola and Popola were just inbetween all of that but i wouldn't say that they were the villains of the game.
Kreia in Knights of the Old Republic 2 definitely fits this list - although I remember being quite happy I could fight her as I found her annoying from the start xD
Kreia was pretty sus from the beginning, though. It would have been more of a twist if she DIDN'T end up being evil.
Solas from dragon age inquistion and Lucy from AC broke my heart
I did not see it comming, I remember just googling why it happened because I was so confused and sad
Lucy the perfect honey trap!!!
@@mikespike2099Lucy actually loved Desmond,She was actually made as a Major Character that could have Lived with Desmond but Its about the Ubisoft contract and moreover they gave a Very shit ending to Desmond. The original character got a Trash shitty end, even he Couldn't escape the Trash Storyline of Ubisoft.
Binary domain kinda did that a little, but I really like that idea being a fan of choose your own adventure style books.
Unfortunately in the modern gaming mark developers wouldn't be allowed to make such an awesome game because we'd all buy it and wouldn't need another game for like a decade.
@@NottherealLucifer nah, no one would do it because it's a very shitty concept in practice
Heavy Rain was kind of like that. Depending what you do as certain characters, the story changes drastically, and there are several different endings.
Al Muallim in assassin's Creed 1. Also Ubisoft. they are evil for turning the series to a weird RPG has nothing to do with templars story line.
I agree.
There are bad Assassin's Creed games but good Openworld rpgs
Good RPG*
Yeah
True
The very first person I thought of was Double from Megaman X4. As a kid, he truly had me fooled and his transformation terrified me
Norah from Child Of Light was a big one.
Great topic. Immediately thought of “Atlas” from Bioshock.
I've been scrolling looking for this comment, cause brother, if you didn't say it.....I was lol
I genuinely cried.
Slightly disappointed General Shepherd isn’t on this list. Ghost and Roach dying in by his hand the way they did in the first MW2 was depressing.
Officer Bullock is easily one of the most morally solid characters in Batman. Not the sharpest, but he knows his own heart.
Solas from Dragon Age Inquisition wouldve been a good one for this list
Yup. Although, as far as I remember, his evilness revealed only in the DLC.
What about Shadow of the Colossus? The demon literally tricks you into killing the colossi so it can possess you and take over.
Yeah but you kinda pick up on that pretty quickly and you spend the remainder of the game depressed
But did he really trick you? He did warn about it not ending well for Wander if he went through with killing the collossis in the beginning of the game
@@omdhdk eh
@@omdhdk and he did say "we have BORROWED the body of this warrior."
👍🏼
Same.. until i searched up for the different endings, i always picked namatame as the culprit.. back then, i thought he was just that one goofy side character..
After learning that he is the main culprit.. I'm still not fully convinced.. like, huh..
I thought the one who handled mayumi was dojima.. and i did6 know that saki was being interviewed..
Persona 4's True Ending villian is an even more unexpected NPC
@@megamanXtrigger i mean, each has a big hint..
I'm surprised Devola and Popola from NieR didn't make the list. Their betrayal really comes out of nowhere on the first play through!
Lmfao
I love Heavenly Sword! Underrated imo.
Favorite thing is the title screen change for Bravely Default. The secondary title is 'Where the fairy flies' after you find out, it highlights 'airy lies' in red.
i know he wasn't an npc but scott shelby from heavy rain was a huge twist
👍🏼
My first thoughts were Junko from Danganronpa and Adachi from P4
The Atlas/Fontaine one was pretty solid as well. The f*ing "would you kindly" in formal work emails still messes with my head.
Oh man I liked Hevanly Sword. I miss that game.
I would also add Legacy of Kain series. Kain was always thought to be the bad guy but he is actually good and the thing you meet in after Razael was thrown into the water. the big thing in the spirit realm was the main evil dude. Great game
I remember Lucy's Betrayal not cool in AC 2 and AC Brotherhood
I was thinking about Aribeth, from Neverwinter NIghts, but that game is like 20 years old, definately a shock when i played as a kid.
Im surprised we didnt get the one from Metroid Dread
I'd say Metroid Prime 3 was a betrayal because it is NOT 100%-able anymore. Those damn green orbs. THAT is why you DO NOT make live serviced games, they inevitably all come crashing down in the end.
"well, gang, let's see who this way too helpful AI I lost contact with first thing really is"
Biggest betrayal i think was the bioshock one...Not gonna spoil it for other people cuz it is one of those moments u absolutely MUST see for ur own.
👍🏼
Loved the darker take on the story - plus the muddy waters of the Wayne family … very true to life!
Kendra Daniels in Dead Space 1 was a really nice surprise. The idea got recycled a few times and didn't work out that well later though.
With regards to point number 1, give it like 3 more years and I'm expecting to say the same thing about Paimon from Genshin Impact 😆
Great list 👌🏻
I was expecting to see Kameo on this list
You forgot to mention that everytime you cleanse all the crystals, airy's wings count down
This brings up a pint where there should be more games where you play the villain
The Mayor in Pokémon Colliseum. Never felt so tricked in my life
I have never been as pissed at a character in any game as I was with Big Smoke.

1. On the list, Is my similar idea for paimon is genshins story. She looks too similar to the unknown god in the beginning and there’s no other beings like Paimon in the world.
The atlas betrayal from bioshock still haunts me to this day.
I'll never understand games with "seasons" that's where I started to get really old. Gimme a set of floppy disks and a full game upon release any day.
I was expecting the Mariachis from Sam & Max to be on this list. In the first acts they appear out of nowhere everytime someone mentions his birthday, do their crazy acts and disappear as suddenly as they appear, and at the end they are revealed to be the real bad guys there.
Am I the only one wondering where General shepherd is?
Like Captain Price says "to feel betrayed, first you needed to trust, I never did."
Dickson from Xenoblade Chronicles is another good one too.
Wait I just noticed, is the Siegfried in Wild Arms nightmare from Soul Caliber? There's away too many similarities to not be
I love Wild Arms it's like every silly thing from JRPGs combined, so it's funny and almost feels like a parody. But it's still a good JRPG with a good story, compelling characters and good twists!
Wild Arms was really fun as a kid. I now want to find it to play again.
That offhand idea of Harvey Bullock secretly controlling all the crime in Gotham would actually be awesome
I got something special for you hit me up to acknowledge it now 🎉🥳🥳❤️❤️❤
Finished Revelations when it first came out and the remaster. Had no idea Lucy was actually bad…
Wow Binary Domain...That's a story I've not thought about for a long time
Persona 4's main villain is a random npc employee that works at the gas station in the town. That came as a real shock in the end. It deserves to be on top ten list.
👍🏼 part 2
the fact you didn't include General Shepherd from MW2 2009
Oh my god, that "Hey, listen!" brought back some PTSD flashbacks right there.
georg weissmann in trails in the sky is easily the best vilain reveal I've seen in all my years of gaming

I can't believe I just made the connection between Sigfried from Wild Arms and Sigfried from Soul Calibur... He's Nightmare in Wild Arms but using his original name! 🤯 I feel embarrassed he's even holding Soul Edge😒
So are we just going to forget about Kreia from Knight of the Old Republic 2? Literally your teacher. Your guide. Then boom! Final boss.
you guys missed the best one. Baldur's Gate 2, Throne of Bhaal. Yoshimo is a valued member of your party until about halfway through the game, then betrays you to the main villain.
Secret of Mana, your mount turns out to be the ultimate baddy. That's like your mount in Skyrim turning out to be Alduin.
Three words, would. You. Kindly. Atlas was really basically just a tutorial device for a solid portion of BioShock 1, he was like the devil character on your shoulder telling you that you have an option to do bad shit. He didn't really even *force* you to be a jerk, he was just telling you you could.
Iris in Lufia 2, which was, especially in the remake on DS, a real kick in the gut.
Wow ,was really expecting to see the "Would you kindly" guy from original Bioshock
I would say Patches from the Dark Souls Series but he's more of a troll/trickster rather than a secretly evil character. I'll never forget how he tries to trick you in DS1 lol good times.
Atlas from Bioshock being left off this list is a crime.
LOL I laughed so hard at Pokémon Card in Thai language
The Cab driver in Vampire Masquerade isn't evil just because the C4, planted by Jack, is in the sarcophagus. The Prince wants the ancient vamp to drain of blood and become stronger, Jack is sitting with the ancient vamp in those lawn chairs chilling when Kaine joins them, because Jack and Kaine were good guys, the Prince isn't
